Good food, solid service enjoyed coming here. Never been here before. Would recommend price is about normal towards other places.

The food is usually good, but one more experience like this and we are done with Margarita's for good! My husband and I usually go for taco Tuesday every week....without fail. We have started to bring my father and mother in law with us and sometimes co-workers. It is usually busy, but the wait is not too bad. This past Tuesday it was packed like usual. We had my father and brothers in law with us for a party of 5. There was 2 parties in front of us on the list when we arrived and two parties behind us. The hostess was trying to seat one party in front of us so she could not take our name down. When she returned a lady from the back of the line (2 parties behind and not on the list either) yelled "I'll take the table outside." and the hostess proceeded to seat the line-jumping lady's party at the only available table instead of telling the customer there was a line and then taking the names of the people in the line. A man in the party behind us complained to the hostess that we were all in line first and she needed to get our names before serving line jumpers. Her response was "oh". At least she started taking names for the list. The service was terrible. Quite possibly the worst service I have received from any restaurant ever. The waiter took our order. Another waitress brought it out. We ordered Margarita dip which never came out. Our entire party finished their water before the food came out, but no one came by the entire meal to re-fill our drinks. I wanted to ask about our dip, but the waiter did not come back until he slid by and slipped the check on the table. 10 mins later I was able to attract his attention to ask for more water for everyone and for him to remove the charge of the dip since we did not receive it. He took the check back and disappeared. 15 mins later he came back with the fixed check and a pitcher of water and then disappeared again. We sat with our card and check at the end of the table and everyone at the table on look-out for the waiter for another 15 mins. One of my brother-in-laws spotted him and actually walked the card and check over to him because he did not notice 5 people yelling and waiving their arms to catch his attention. My bro in law handed him the card and came back to the table. 10 mins passed (I was keeping the time) and he brought back the card and receipt to sign. Over 45 mins of our lunch was spent trying to get our missing food, some water, and our check paid for! We all wanted to complain to a manager, but that was also missing much like our waiter. read more

Pretty much meh....something has to be completely inedible before I give less than 3 stars. Margaritas is all advertising and very little actual delivery. One of the blandest menus even in whitebread JoCo and just as bland on the delivery. It took getting their b*tts kicked by newcomers like Jose Pepper etc to even update their menu to include shredded beef or black beans. And what is their standard queso dip....microwaved Velveeta? The espinaca dip is nice, but the norm is perilously close to 2-star land. Lots of food for the dollar but far from memorable. Far better options abound. read more

I was sad when they closed their Martin City location, but was happy when they opened this location at 79th & Quivira. It's much closer to my house. I love their tacos, and what better time to enjoy them than when they're buy one, get one free. Every Tuesday is taco Tuesday, so while my wife is enjoying her chimichanga, quesadilla, burrito, or whatever, I'm stuffing my face with delicious Margaritas tacos. read more

Worst customer service ever. We were visiting from Texas and read the reviews and decided to give it a try. When we were walking in the place it looked so dirty we doubted if it would be healthy to eat here. We stood at the entrance for a while and no one greeted us. We walked to the bar and someone from the kitchen said we would have to wait 30 min, i asked wait for what? Then a waitress just screamed, there were 2 servers that called in and it was going to take a long time with a very bad mood. We just walked out, when we decide to eat out we want to have a pleasant time in a nice clean place, this is definitely not it. read more

Bland is the word that I would use for the food that I was served in this restaurant. The portion size of the burrito was huge. The thing is that I would rather pay the same amount of money for something that was smaller, if it was prepared well with ingredients that were seasoned properly. The only thing I tasted in the blob of food on my plate was salt. The meat did not have any flavor, the beans were bland and the taste of the cheese was lost in that salty blob. The salsa tasted like it came from a plastic jug...with lots of salt. I would not waste my time dining in this restaurant. There are much better mexican restaurants in Kansas City. read more

Like the puffy tacos. They use a lot of cheese on the enchiladas. Salsa is smooth, not chunky.

Some friends and I went here for a Taco Tuesday to celebrate a friend who is leaving for Denver soon. We traditionally do our Mexican business elsewhere but we hadn't tried Margaritas yet so we stopped in. The salsa and chips (rather intact half corn tortilla in crispy fashion) were good and plentiful. The cheese dip was also pretty delicious, evidenced by the fact that we went through two orders while we waited on the rest of our party to arrive. As for food, we each ordered our own entrees even though we had eaten a bunch of chips beforehand. I ended up with two cheese and onion enchiladas which they topped with their red sauce rather than their enchilada sauce because they weren't sure the enchilada sauce was gluten free. I wasn't surprised given that most other places' enchilada sauce isn't gluten free, so actually the red sauce was perfect and a bit lighter than the enchilada sauce from what I saw on other's plates. I liked the enchiladas a lot as they were cheesy and delicious. Other people at the table got tacos and cleaned their plates. My friend's taco salad was only half eaten and the quesadillas on the table were destroyed in quick fashion. Last, but not least, the margaritas were tasty. There were so many flavors. Watermelon and raspberry were our favorites. All in all, a good meal and good drinks though the service could use some work but perhaps that was just because it was incredibly busy. read more

So I've waited a week to write this, and I'm still pissed I wasted $60. This place is NOT what it used to be. Growing up, I can remember frequenting the Martin City location, always tasty, always good service. I haven't been to Margarita's in a few years, went to this location tonight, and WOW, what happened??? Do you know how hard it is to mess up Mexican food? I didn't know "too much" cheese was possible, but tonight I discovered that. I imagine it was possibly an attempt to cover the insane amount of cumin (that distinct taco bell flavor) I'm no foodie or chef either. The white cheese dip was amazing, salsa was meh. The fried taco was pretty good, but the enchiladas wer over-cheesed on top, and dryyyy on the inside. Dry chicken and. Nothing else. Rice tasted dry and old. My bf couldn't eat any of his sampler. I would have liked to try a margarita, it looked like there was some kind of special going, but I couldn't find my server or a drink menu. We normally eat and pay in about 25 minutes, we each only ate a few bites and gave up, ordered sopapias, which when we finally got them, they were really good. We waited 20 minutes after that for our check, she never brought the check with the sopapias. Finally we caught her by the door, and were able to pay. I felt trapped. I have been coming to Margaritas for as long as I can remember; even before their current location, down in the dungeon of tacos! Everything Margaritas makes is great. The tacos are delicious, a bit greasy, but delicious. The salsa and chips should be considered an addictive substance and be regulated thusly - I have put down 4 baskets with a friend before, no kidding. I always ask for an extra bowl of salsa to dispose of at my discretion. Their fajitas are delicious and flavorful, searing on cast iron fajita pan as usual - a little pricy, as is usual with any fajita plate. But their burritos are my favorite; either the ground beef, pork, or chicken, you really can't go wrong. The chicken has a good flavor, clean, and very large. I would say that the running theme of Margaritas is a clean flavor, and large portions. The ground beef burrito with refried beens inside, and cheese on the top is my go to. Albeit, the cheese is very high quality, I go without and get a plain beef burrito with beans and red sauce on top. The plates the food comes on are always steaming hot, and the food is hotter than that. I honestly cannot finish an entire burrito, and take half to go - every time. The pork burrito is of a chunk variety, and very flavorful. I consider this to be a quality authentic Mexican American food, emphasis on the Mexican. It's everything you would want in Mexican food, without adding menudo and Pozole to the menu to make it truly authentic - but who knows, they might have that too. Their Sopa is clean and flavorful, and their beans are excellent. This is my regular joint when I don't want to spend $40 for "Mexican" but then, Mexican food isn't suppose to cost a lot by its very nature. If you're feeling like celebrating something, try their fried Ice Cream; It is quite possibly the perfect dessert! Their special for every day of the week is the best: Taco Tuesday's provide a packed house, and BOGO $2.89 tacos. Two is enough, but maybe if you're hungry, 4 would work: you're all in with a bowl of chips and salsa for under $6! Tip you server, because these guys work really fast, and really hard. The kitchen just pumps this stuff out, and do a great job at it. Thursdays brings Burritos for around $6 - it used to be around $5, but I think they changed it. Anyway, in considering Mexican food in KC, Margaritas is the top of the Bee's Knees! Manny's has a great salsa, but they got nothin' on the entree's here at Margaritas. Terrible customer service. My husband and I had a to-go order. Not only did they get the order completely wrong, but they tried to argue that it was our fault we didn't open each box and check before we left. The manager we talked to, Amber, was extremely rude and unapologetic. I highly doubt we will be back after such an experience. read more

Very poor service. Had to finally flag someone down to get water since our waiter was nowhere to be seen. Ordered fajitas and half of it was burnt and inedible. The waiter was aware of the issue but didn't offer to take it back to the kitchen. We were charged for the meal with no apologies. read more

I have been eating at Margarita's all over KC for years. It has been a year or so since I frequented the one closest to our house. I was disappointed. Service was slow. Our server mentioned that she had been quadruple sat. We told her no problem as long as we got our drinks. That was still slow. If they would have bused some tables they should could handle more business. We paid $27 for a pitcher or margarita's. They were barely tolerable. The two wife's would not drink since so tart. The food...the carnita's were excellent. The chimichanga and tacos were average. I went with the Margarita Special...have had many times in the past. Won't get their signature item again....the tortilla was definitely not fresh. Almost chewy. I would guess the beans came from the bottom of the pot. I did find three small pieces of pork. Was a bad meal. Lots of other Mexican places nearby....will check those out for the near future. read more

Wow, this place has changed! The house Margaritas are awful, marg dip cold, and although the server did her best , which is the only reason i gave any stars at all , she was not skilled at her job. I brought someone in to eat tonight, telling them how good it was. How embarassing. With fronteras, dos reales, jose peppers all in the area, i most likely won't be back. Sad...:( read more

My girlfriend and I went to Margaritas out in Lenexa today. We were really excited to try the happy hour as we saw the specials online. Dollar tacos/flautas and 3.50 combo dip sounded awesome. We decided to try Margaritas for the first time. We got there, were quickly seated and were greeted by our server. Everything was great, food was great. We specifically told our server that we were there for the happy hour and needed a few minutes to look at the menu on our phones because its not posted on the menu itself. We finished our meal and received our tab, which was 41.72. This total caught me completely off guard as we had assumed that with happy hour we would be WELL BELOW 20.00 dollars. Well the server proceeded to argue with me about my total and told me that I didn't say "mini" tacos I said chicken tacos, but I had said that we wanted "HAPPY HOUR" which unless I am mistaking, is the same thing as mini. I also said we wanted HAPPY HOUR Dip and Flautas. The server argued with me for a few minutes and said "I don't know what you want me to do." She also stated that "she could attempt to go get a manager and talk to them." I was told by the manager that the prices had changed 2 days ago and that the dip was now 5.50 and the tacos and flautas were 1.25. The problem that I have here is that the website said 1.00 and 3.49. The menus didn't have the happy hour menu listed and I was charged the NEW pricing. This isn't my fault that the prices have not been updated and I'm thoroughly upset that I still had to pay over 26 dollars for my tab because of a mistake that I DIDN'T make. I wanted to bring this to your attention. The food was great but I am extremely dissapointed with how the outcome went and am unsure if I will visit this location ever again. This outing should have been taken care of differently and I thought that my tab would be adjusted appropriately. Extremely upset about how this went. read more

All restaurants have their days but I like the fact that this Margarita's does breakfast on Sundays. I can get chorizo, potatoes and eggs scrambled (w/other stuff thrown in) it's the #9. I love it, can't find it anywhere else. Their pancakes are even good. We've always had good service at this location. 1st Sunday of every month is buy one get one free breakfast. read more

Where do I start? Maybe the dust bunnies in the lights? The "uniform" consisting of a old faded black shirt thrown over a tie die shirt? The spicy ketchup they call salsa? My 4 year old son refused to eat their chicken fingers and after tasting one I knew why. They were gross, greese soaked batter that reminded me more of chineese buffet sweet and sour chicken that's been sitting out too long than chicken fingers. Oh and usually french fries aren't cold in the middle. The Margarita special.....days old reheated pork thrown onto a tortilla, smothered in hamberger and cheese. I'm former military so I thought I could just tough it out and eat it because I was hungry but after 4 bites I asked it to be taken away. The bill comes and of course I ask for a manager so that I can give feedback and ask for some comopensation. She took half off of my dinner and full price for my son's but I still didn't feel that that was justified. We both left the place with full plates and grabbed a bite elsewhere.Big thumbs down. Our server was nice though. I feel sorry for her. Maybe next time a place is half empty at 6:30pm on a Saturday I'll just go elsewhere. read more
