Our server was great and made sure she was on top of things. It was a little later so the place wasn't full and not too loud. Our food came out fairly quickly and looked and tasted great. I stopped in with a friend and left pleasantly surprised! As soon as I sat down, chips and salsa hit the table immediately (and the chips were warm and clearly fresh, which is always a good sign). I ordered tacos and they were delicious, flavorful, well-seasoned, and not greasy (no leftovers). My friend enjoyed her meal too. The margarita was good too, they have a lot of different flavors to choose from. The menu has plenty of options, so I'm already thinking about what to try next time. Short answer everything needs to be improved. I did takeout. Loaded nachos no jalapeño. Sounds easy right. The host only spoke Spanish. I told him I would be at the bar. I went to the bar and ordered club soda with a splash of cranberry there was clearly something wrong with the club it tasted like quinine. The bartender did offer to replace it with something else. At some point I look at the area and there was a bag on the seat. I walked to it and it was mine. I looked at the receipt and it didn't say anything about no jalapeños. I asked the new host who spoke English and he told me that it should have said no jalapeños. I went to the bar and opened my bag and it was loaded with jalapeño. I asked for the manager who insisted the kid spoke English. He then defended the kid. In the meantime another patron brought to my attention the bag was leaking. At least the order was wrong so I didn't have that mess in my car. They replaced it and when I brought it home it was all nachos with a layer on top and nothing else. We spent about two minutes poking at our food and tossed it. If anyone has a dog you know you're in trouble when the dog runs from it. Ours is a beggar. Normally I do not write reviews but because everything was wrong I had no choice. Also as I left there was and elderly man with a walker coming in and I held the door for them. The two hosts had perfect views of this and continued talking to one another. I also would give an establishment another chance but not this one. Corporate needs to retrain the entire staff and pray for improvement but I doubt it. Corporate may also wish to review their dress code policy as the first kid had shorts on and facial piercings in places that make him look unprofessional at the very least. Let's just start out with the fact that the music is way too loud... We didn't know what the music was. Sitting at the bar I couldn't even talk to the people I brought here after raving about your restaurant. Felt like I was in Club 54. Food was okay, beer is overpriced. Had a Corona Light you charged $8 are you kidding me. I ordered the chicken fajita'sI got two tortillas to eat 1/2 a pound of chicken, i was not asked if I wanted corn or flour. I love sitting at a bar I will usually enjoy the environment but this time was very disappointing. Bartender was spending way too much time making drinks for the tables. Overall not what I expected. Couldn't even talk to anybody at the bar if you wanted to make friends for socialize people. People eating next to us couldn't eat fast enough to get out of of thr restaurant. We've been here a few times and it hasn't disappointed. In my opinion, the steak fajitas are better here than On The Border. The bartenders are nice and work fast. The margaritas are perfect, though I don't think they have a blender so it's on the rocks margs. I've even come here for lunch. $9.99 lunch options. Honestly my only complaint and it's not even really a complaint just a meh: the music can get very loud and it can be run by jukebox so you might have to sit through some awful noise. read more

Your typical Mexican American fare, but done well. The drink menu was also amazing. They had a margarita flight which I absolutely loved. Only thing I'm knocking a star down is wait time. I'm not sure about the reviews, but I've been here twice and it's been a good overall experience both times. The first time, we came after going to the Raceway Arcade in the area. I ordered the burrito the first time that I was here, as well as some margarita flights. The flights are decent, flavor-wise they're alright but have a good amount of liquor. The second time, I ordered more flights and got a burger. The burger was very hot and seasoned perfectly. It tasted great, especially with all of the ingredients. It was also very juicy! I was very surprised at the quality and enjoyed it. The manager, Rich, came out and asked us how it was and I let him know it was worth the trip (It's about 90 mins of a drive from me). My BF and I ordered the fajitas with chicken, shrimp, and beef. The meats were all cooked really well. The only complaint about the fajitas is they only give you 4 tortillas, which isn't enough for the amount of food. There is just a lot of fillings. She was so friendly and attentive. We ordered the jalapeño baby chimis again and the Juan's wings - spicy coconut flavor. The wings were not spicy at all but the flavor was delicious!!!!!!!!!! The service is horrible. Sat today for lunch.. ignored by wait staff for 20 minutes. Table sat 10 minutes after us had service. We stopped a waiter the next table over who was completely clueless about who had our table or what he could do about it. Couldn't tell you how the food was.. never got that far and I never will. I have had the Yelp app for years to look up reviews on restaurants before going to places I am not familiar with. I have never left a review until now. This is the worst mexican restaurant I have ever been to. We ordered beef and carnitas tacos. The beef tasted like Taco Bell and that was the better taco. The carnitas was hands down the worst taco I've ever tasted. No seasoning, chunks of meat, bones in the taco. Horrible. The chips and salsa was also pretty terrible. Pretty sure the salsa was just a jar of Tostitos chunky salsa poured in a bowl. We went on a Monday at 530pm during "happy hour". But apparently happy hour only exists if you sit at their bar rather than a table. So instead of a $7 margarita we paid $11. Way overpriced. If 0 stars were possible that's what this place deserves, but I'll have to settle for 1 star. Ps - I was kind of upset rice and beans were not included in the taco order, but after eating here I'm sure that saved this place some slack. read more

We went to to Tio Juan's on the spare of the moment. I picked up my sweetie from school and we shot over. This place is the former site of Tiffany's. This chain I hear is soon to open its second site in NJ. Toni Ann, our server, was very sweet and accommodating. Salsa & chips were brought out immediately. I felt the salsa was very salty. I didn't mention it. We ordered the beef tacos(3) and the Carne Asada. They both were good, yet not on the "cutting edge" as far as Mexican restaurants go. Staff & Management were great. Tio Juan's!! We were greeted warmly and seated at a very comfy booth and our drink order was requested by our server. No alcohol this visit just iced tea (I know-I know- total slacker) but next time, I promise! While looking over the menu we munched on the yummy salsa and chips- I loved the salsa a nice kick to it and the chips were sturdy and didn't break when scoopin'- know what else I loved? I loved that when I asked for more salsa and chips I wasn't charged each time they brought me more- Yes there are some Mexican Restaurants that do- (whispers Hacienda in Paterson)- SMH. We ordered the little sizzle skillet of queso goodness - very good choice, for my entree I chose the Mexican flag platter, 3 enchiladas with rice and beans- they were beef, chicken and carnitas (pork) they had red, white and green sauce the rice was fluffy and tasty and the beans were good. I did add extra salsa all over, but just cuz I liked it so much HOWEVER- my Mr ordered the chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. He took a few bites and didn't like it, I think its cuz he burned his taste buds off his tongue with that that first bite of sizzlin' queso- but ya kno! anyway I did the big girl thing and swapped entrees. I liked the chicken chimichanga and thought it was seasoned fine, but honestly halfway through, I was full cuz I got filled up on the chips, queso and salsa- but then who doesn't right? LOL I did place and order to go for Mini-Me. They have two types of burritos wet with the sauce over it or hand held no sauce. I ordered a hand held carnitas burrito for Mini-Me with cheese, lettuce, tomato, rice and beans. We took two to-go boxes for our remaining entrees and the burrito for Mini-Me was wrapped up tightly in foil and placed in a container, it held up well in travel and she loved it! which is a good sign.Great service, really tasty and filling food. I looked over the drink menu and they have quite the variety of margaritas and even some interesting mojitos, the tequila selection had something for everyone but I stand firm and it's my personal opinion that Cabo Wabo is not tequila, but some love it, so there ya go. If an establishment doesn't carry Ballast I'll enjoy Modelo which they do offer here. The couple behind us ordered a couple of the Blood-Orange Margaritas and from their comments seemed to truly enjoy them, so definitely on my radar to try next visit. Went here for the first time last night with a group of 5 friends. It was a Friday night and the place was packed. They were extremely short-staffed (two servers was all I saw running the main dining area), but service was still great. Each of us enjoyed a margarita, and had meals including the spicy coconut chicken tenders, a cheeseburger, steak quesadilla, burrito, and sides of fries and rice and beans. Everyone's food came out hot and cooked well. Each drink was about $12, the meals ranged in prices from $13-$18. We came here for a late dinner after checking into our hotel. We waited almost 20 minutes until the hostess acknowledged that we had not been properly greeted while at our table. I don't think the servers were told that someone was in their section. Upon knowing this, our server Diane came over to the table. DIANE IS SO SWEET & SUCH AN ATTENTIVE SERVER! She treats you like you're one of her kids or grandkids. She was especially sweet to my 5 year old daughter. Now to the food, this is not authentic Mexican food but it's not bad. The guacamole had to be doctored up with lime, salt and pepper. The wings were bland naked as in no seasoning, the sauce was the only saving grace. The margaritas are watered down with too much ice as they measure their pours and don't free hand pour. The drinks aren't bad, don't mistake that but it's not a powerful drink if you know what I mean. My advice, just order an extra shot and you'll be happy! This review has 4 stars because of Diane!
