The Boathouse is so much fun for live music (every weekend all year long) with great beer selection on tap. They book quality bands. Super crowded in summer though from Bar A's spillover. All of the bartenders are cool. There's a pool table. For food--very mid. Bar staples that do the job, but won't change your life. French fries are pretty dang good though--very coated and crispy. Came in the other day and was seated quickly. Not much of a crowd. About 40 minutes in we asked what was going on as the food never came. The server told us they were having issues in the kitchen and it would be a while. Wish he told us sooner.. we wouldn't have stayed if we knew the food would take over an hour. We were their first customers for lunch on a Sunday and the staff were so welcoming. There are several different areas to the restaurant including bar spaces, dining booths, and outdoor areas. I've been to Boathouse many years ago and it was nice to stop by again. Food is really great and reasonably priced. My blackened salmon BLT was tasty and a large portion. I tried my dining mates' fries and loved them! We had a small hiccup with one of the entrees but it was fixed immediately. After a 5-year hiatus, my husband and I went back to The Boathouse in Belmar tonight. New owners, management, and menu. The ladies bathroom has been renovated and the kitchen redone. Food was great (wait was a little long, but food was fresh and not frozen so worth the wait), prices are very reasonable (and no credit card processing fee), and our waitress and GM Patrick were personable and awesome! This place was a surprising hit for us. We were a bit skeptical walking up as we were expecting it to be on the water. It has a dive bar type atmosphere when you walk in but has booths in the back and tons of outdoor seating. The drinks were basic but well made and strong. The food was delicious! We had the steak bite appetizer and the steak was cooked perfectly. The horseradish sauce tasted house made, not bought. First time eating here, and although it probably wasn't the best choice to come here during memorial weekend, I'm glad I did! The wait was very decent, about 45 minutes for a party of 3, especially during a Saturday night and on a holiday! The food: the menu was very comprehensive. Lots of choices to choose from (which I don't really like just because I believe if there's a lot of choices, you might not end up being happy with what you choose) The mussel appetizer was delicious. I ended up getting the swordfish special and that was just as delicious too. 5 stars because the wait for the waitress to take our order was pretty long but other than that- highly recommend trying this place out! What can I say, what can I say. Hm. Well, I came here on a Tuesday night after Bar A was extremely packed. We got to Boathouse and it was still pretty packed but the line seemed to be moving a lot so we ended up just spending our Tuesday night/ early Wednesday morning partying here. The bouncers/ security were extremely nice, professional and just all around good people. While waiting in line we were just joking around with them and talking. It was nothing extreme but it was just a nice gesture and good for business. Now, the actual bar? Well, it's a $5 cover charge which is very reasonable although I really think if you're paying for drinks there should never be a cover. You walk in and you have to pay the $5 immediately which again is reasonable. Walk in and you can already smell the beer and a good time. This place gets packed and I mean like people stepping on your feet, beer being poured on your hair (accidentally of course), and definitely drunk people but all in good spirits and having a good time. The drinks were great and I say that only because I've been to bars and the drinks barely have any alcohol but these drinks were actually pretty strong and decent. I had an amaretto sour as well as a long island ice tea. And boy, did that long island realllllllly hit. I mean reallllllly. I didn't try the food because i honestly didn't think they were serving any that late at night but I did have the burrito truck outside of the establishment which was HORRIBLE but that's for another time, and another review. The only thing I might have to complain about is the music. I mean let's have a little variety but then again what much can you expect based on the demographics, etc. Also, the place was a little crowded well, not a little a lot and it was a bit uncomfortable at times. It reminded me of my college days standing shoulder to shoulder with the next person in the bar on a Thursday night. First time visit to the Boathouse. Got there at 7:15 on a Friday in November and got seated right away, actually had the whole room to ourselves. Started with the special rum drink, it was okay but not great. The coke was a bit watery. Three of us ordered appetizers as dinner. The sliders were excellent! Teriyaki chicken wings were good, Irish nachos were huge. Interesting though the nachos were made with rigged chips. Liked it but didn't love it. Would have been better with tortilla chips. Came here on Friday for a quick bite to eat while on a weekend getaway from NYC. BF knows the area and likes this bar, definitely a local spot. BF was really excited because they had Southern Tier Pumking on tap, which is hard to find. BF recommended that we get wings to start, he likes them grilled and we decided to split ones with a Peanut Sauce and Ooey Gooey (Honey Mustard) and we both were impressed with the peanut sauce ones. Just enough peanut to spice ratio. We ended up getting another order of the peanut wings they were so good. We also shared lobster tacos, which I enjoyed. They did not skimp on the lobster meat. The service was good, we sat at a booth in the back. There was some sort of game on, so the place was loud, but to be expected, it is a sports bar. Helloooo Wednesday nights! This is merely a review of a mid summer Thursday eve... We came in around 9 ish, to a decently packed bar, pretty young crowd in their early twenties. The chalkboard indicates what types of specials they have each day and Wed is 50 cent wings and $1 beers, which balanced out all the gas I burned to get to the this place. Needless to say we ordered some of their scrumptious, extra crispy wings and we were hooked! The sauce they have is phenomenal, a mix of hot sauce and bbq, and just finger-lickin' good! A perfect pairing with some cheap drafts, just make sure to get here early, because we did witness the keg tap out and then BOOM - the special was over. Throughout the night they had a DJ playing a wide array of music from top 40's to top 40's in 2002 - which actually made me super happy. They also had random shot specials like a jolly rancher shot for $2 and tequila for $3. Try to get here a little early, they have a small lot adjacent to the place. And don't worry if you do end up getting here late, they have a hot dog stand to feed you as you wait, which is pretty darn genius. In conclusion, you should head over to the boathouse, load up on some cheap food and drinks, but more importantly relive your youth for a few hours. read more

We've been here before but I've never actually reviewed it. This is a shore bar with a nautical theme, decent tap selection, and pretty good pub type food. For me I'd much rather come in the off season to avoid the loud crowds, so chances are I won't be back until September. Late Sunday afternoon we were able to score two seats at the bar where we prefer to be. The bar area is dark and although not a dismal vibe, I'd prefer some more light. The darkness was offset by two very friendly and helpful bartenders who were more than glad to give us as many beer tastings we asked for. Appreciated guys! Clientele at either side of us were friendly and not adverse to some innocuous bar chat. Regards to Ace (apparently a regular here I was mistaken for). The food here is pretty good. I had the steak tacos. They were marinated steak in a garlic/teriyaki sauce served with lettuce and tomato and two cheeses; accompanied by salsa and sour cream. They asked me how I wanted the steak. I said medium rare and was pleasantly surprised that it came out exactly that. There were three large tacos with plenty of steak. I definitely recommend them. My wife had a lobster taco that she wasn't enthralled with because of lack of flavor. I've had other sandwiches on the menu and although don't recall what they were right now I'd give them 3 or 4 stars. I do remember an ahi tuna appy that is real good. The beer prices are at par with any bar selling premium beer (35 taps here I think), so they can get expensive,but what is inexpensive is the food. You can get a decent sandwich for $9 - $10. We only came for a few drinks so we can't review the food. It's 5 stars because I like their happy hour specials and I enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the bar area. I'm a firm believer that happy hour should be happy, and good drinks specials makes that happen for me. It was pretty empty when we came mid-day during the week so we'd like to come back another time and see how it is with more people around. There's a pool table and a pretty large bar area. We enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and the bartender was friendly enough. We enjoyed the Happy Hour specials and couldn't believe how cheap the beer was. HH is M-F 11am-6pm. $1.75 domestic pints, $2.50 domestic bottles & $3.50 premium bottles & pints. Domestic here means Miller Lite, Bud, and Bud Light. Yuengling and other domestics are "premium" price. We enjoyed a few Miller Lites and would like to come back again to try the food. I will update my review once we visit again. read more

So my wife and I enter and walk up to the hostess. I asked for an inside table for two and she acted like we were bothering the hell out of her. She gets the menu's and silverware and starts walking without a word. As we're walking to our table, both of us notice the strong odor that reminds me of sour or bad beer. As we entered the back room to our table, the odor was less noticeable, but the table she's seating us at is dirty from the last customers. She looks at us and asks if we want our table cleaned. (Who would ask that? Should've seated us at another table or said give me a minute to clean this up for you). That would be a great idea was my reply. She drops, not sets the menu's and silverware onto the table next to us and walks away. Again, doesn't say a word and is noticeably irritated at the request. We pick up the menu's and start looking them over when we realize that there's a floor fan on top of the table opposite to ours (maybe 8 ft away) which would be blowing directly on us and our food. Easy fix. I'll get someone to redirect it. Well the hostess returns. Sprays a couple small puddles on the table, takes a rag and wipes the center of the table, then puts our silverware thats wrapped in a napkin on the wet table and left. She didn't wipe the entire table, just the center so crumbs are still there along with water from previous beverage glasses and greasy food/ hand marks. I was going to ask for a manager, but my wife had enough and wanted to spend our money else where. We're here on vacation and have found the majority of area eateries appreciate the revenue from visitors to the Jersey shore. I can't say the same for this place. We all have bad days. Hope that's all it was for the hostess. She truly didn't want to be there that day. It's because of her shitty attitude and that horrible odor that I posted this review. As for the food? I've been here twice in the past month and really enjoy this place. They have a huge outside area which is great for the warm Months. The service both times has been great. The first time we brought my one year old nephew and they had a nice kids menu and high chair for him. They also didn't bat an eyelash when he was flinging food on the ground ( my sis in law cleaned it up ). This is a family friendly place for sure but The inside is more of a sports bar atmosphere. If you just want to come for drinks and an app you can sit inside. The menu is pretty varied and there is Something for everyone. You can have lobster tacos , chicken tenders, salads, pizza , pretty much anything. I had a quesadilla and it was stuffed with lots Of chicken and onions and peppers. It was huge and very filling. They have a decent beer list which had some seasonal favorites like pumpkin and Oktoberfest. It was reasonably priced too , sixty bucks for three of us for an app three dinners and three beers. The food at the Boathouse is always fantastic. Since the pandemic started, I've been getting take-out at least once a week. A few of my favorites are the Honey Garlic Glazed Salmon, Shrimp Mac and Cheese, and Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese. I'm very impressed that the food is just as good as what I've had in the past when dining in the restaurant. I stop in every week to enjoy a craft beer and delicious food. Garlic sliced steak sandwich and blackened steak bites are my favorite. The beef and buffalo chicken sliders are great too! There are great reasons to come here and one reason I struggle with it. First the good. Love the bartenders and hanging at the bar for their off the beach menu. Everyday from 3 to 6 they offer a sampling of several different bites that we really like (see menu) Love the fish taco (fried cod cooked perfectly) , sliders have a hard sear but are juicy and delicious, wings are always a winner, pizza is thin crust and I always add grated cheese, meat tacos also nice size and tasty. Also like several items off the regular menu, i.e. best french onion soup, not salty but rich. Make a terrific salad, huge selection of wings and run additional specials for them aside from the 3 to 6 menu. They also have a nice nightly specials menu we have eaten at the bar if you want. The bartenders and bar backs (some of them do both depending on which day they are working) Have to make a mention and shout out to Jimmy, Helene, Jordan, Frank and Danielle. Hi to Erin at the front desk too! Jimmy has been our most frequent bartender and he has been here for many years. Remembers you, and is a pleasure to hang with. The owners must keep them happy because they seem to have "long term" people who have stayed wth them. To me this is always a positive thing. I have one pet peeve that I cannot ignore that I struggle with. I have mentioned this is a prior review years ago and unfortunately the problem continues to remain. They need to fix up their bathrooms. There is no excuse for broken paper towel holders, toilet paper holders, soaking wet floors etc. I have come here on 6 separate days in the last three weeks with various friends and the problem existed each of these days. I understand the bathrooms can get messy on a Saturday night after the crazy kids may come but on a Tuesday afternoon? A solution is needed because I find myself not staying as long as we would because I do not want to use the facilities. Love your staff, enjoy the menu, fix the facilities please. read more

Every time we go down the shore or to Atlantic City, on the way back north we stop at the Boathouse, it's our hangover cure! The buffalo chicken nachos are an absolute must. And the steak tacos are amazing as well.... super large servings and always delicious! It's a jersey shore staple.
