I can't believe this place has 4 stars! Maybe for the view or the cocktails? I have eaten better Mexican food from a can! My $36 seafood enchiladas were cold and nondescript without a hint of flavor. Atmosphere was beautiful but our server had the worst attitude and was not pleased to have us, we are in our twenty's and I guess we're not the age group she wanted. She would ignore our table and we had to ask another waitress for help. We stopped in here for its convenience down by the water in Capitola. I wanted to have a drink on the water and that's what we got with Margaritaville! We appreciated getting to sit right at the end of the river, not far from where the waves were hitting the beach. We went pretty early, so they had just opened which meant that they weren't that busy, which was nice. However, despite it not being busy, our waiter was fairly... absent in our short time there. While there we got margaritas (of course) which we got to choose from the huge selection. We also go the chips & salsa & guac and we were super happy with all of them. The guac wasn't a very large serving at all which was somewhat disappointing, but they were all delicious which was definitely nice. Took a quick girls trip to Capitola our first stop was for drinks and lunch. I do not remember the daytime bartenders name however he made the most amazing pomegranate margaritas we have ever had. Staff was lovely and very attentive. We ordered guacamole and ceviche to start. Homemade salsa was on point and we were so full from the generous portions. My boyfriend and I went here over the weekend for a belated Valentine's celebration/anniversary date! This was both of ours first time trying Margaritaville and we were overall impressed! We made the mistake of not making a reservation beforehand, so when we got there around 5:40pm on Sat, we had to wait about an hour to get a table. The time passed pretty quickly so we weren't too upset about the wait. We ordered the bottomless chips and salsa! The chips were soooo good! And there were two choices for salsa. We both ordered Strawberry margaritas and thought they were perfect! Not only were they just the right size, but they had good flavor with a hint of sweetness. My boyfriend ordered the Chile Verde Enchiladas and I had the Chicken Mole Enchiladas. We both enjoyed our meals a lot! Overall, our first experience at Margaritaville was great! Our server was nice and efficient. Our food/drinks came out in a timely manner. My only complaint is that inside gets a bit noisy so it was hard to hear at times. Although it is on the more expensive side, I felt as though the location/atmosphere/food justified the price! My boyfriend and I came here on a Tuesday afternoon! We wanted to go here for their Taco Tuesday special but when we came here our server told us that they don't do the Taco Tuesday special anymore. This restaurant has a lot of seating inside and they also have an outdoor patio seating where you can overlook Capitola beach. We sat at the outdoor patio and luckily it was a nice day when we went. We first ordered the crab tostada which came with 3 when we recieved it we noticed they are not stingy on the crab and make sure to put a lot of crab on each tostada! The crab was fresh and the gucamole on it was amazing. We then ordered the Al Pastor tacos which came with 3 tacos. Inside of it they added pinapple chunks which made the taco flavorful. We then decided to order chicken nachos and I am telling you when my boyfriend and I saw the plate of nachos it was a big plate that could feed and share among 6 people! The portion size of the nachos was huge! We were unable to finish it and took it to go! The service was amazing but the food was not worth the price LOL! Our water jugs and cups were super cute and our waiter was super sweet. On the other hand, the food looked and tasted like it would have came from a food truck or maybe a local Mexican restaurant. For like $20 a plate, the food was not worth it! Seating was fast. Food was delicious. Service was great until we got our food, and our waitress decided we no longer needed her attention. We waited what felt like 30 minutes for boxes and a check. We had to ask another server to help us. The table next to us experienced same as we watched their patience run out as well. The waitress kept walking by both of our tables. Went to margaritaville yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised! Hadn't been for a while and thought for sure it couldn't be as good as it used to. I wasn't sure if this was part of a chain of restaurants, but after a bit of perusing their website, I read that previous owners of this establishment "sold the business to Sunset Hospitality Group, a Santa Cruz family owned and operated company" in 2015. Don't know if I would call this a "local" spot as it is definitely a tourist location, with prime real estate along the beach and a view of the Capitola Village. We stopped by for the convenience of the location, but also a craving for margaritas. There seemed to be a long line of people waiting for a table, but we were seated in a matter of minutes. It seemed like most people were waiting to be seated outside, a 40-60 minute wait. I figured, we're at the beach already, I'll be outside most the day anyway, I don't mind sitting at an indoor table! We ended up being seated by the window with a perfect ocean view. We ordered a side of fried calamari, which comes with fried jalapenos and has a bit of a spicy kick to it. The dipping sauces that come with the calamari are delicious. We also, of course, ordered frozen strawberry margaritas, and then we each ordered fish tacos. I got the mango salsa ones which comes with grilled fish, and my husband ordered the baja style which comes with fried fish. (We traded one of each so we could have a taste of everything!) I like fried fish tacos better than grilled, but the mango salsa was really refreshing on a hot day. At the end of our meal, we finished with an order of churros con chocolate - freshly fried churros with chocolate dipping sauce and freshly made whipped cream. Fantastic service. Our server refilled waters on a regular basis, asked us how we liked the food and if our margaritas were made well, and was super friendly.
