If you want the quintessential island theme restaurant this is it. Come inside Jimmy Buffets world for good sandwiches and better ambiance. It's loud, but not crowded and the service was stellar. The Monterey chicken sandwich was a nice portion for a light dinner. Don't forget to visit the gift shop!! read more

My dad is a bigtime parrothead, so I couldn't be in Key West without making a stop to honor him. Sooo that's why I ended up at the tourist-baiting chain drinking a subpar margarita. This was apparently the original Margaritaville which may be pretty cool to those who like Jimmy Buffet, but these days, I feel like you can't go anywhere tropical without stumbling on one of these outposts. I'm a big fan of margaritas, though and here I am, in the haven of those delicious, frozen, fruity concoctions (you know, the ones that help you hang on-- as Jimmy would say). I don't have high hopes for a chain margarita, but when you have it in your name, you'd better deliver, and Margaritaville just didn't. The margaritas were your standard Island Oasis and cheap tequila mixed in a blender. They tasted stale and sour and did not make me want to waste my day away in the 'ville. It was super disappointing. You're in the heart of Key West, if you want a frozen, fruity drink, I don't blame you--- I do too! But there's lots of other places that do it better. Save your cash, don't get suckered in here. There's tons of tourist traps around...find one where the drinks are a little better. read more

I'm a Buffett fan, lifelong sailor so back in the early 90's after a rough sail up from Panama I pulled into Key West. Well , I had to get a burger at Margaritaville... Wearing clean shorts and T shirt I was told at the door that a button up shirt was required ... Boy was I pissed, everything against what Jimmy songs about... This bar was a fun experience and had decent food. I tried the fried pickles (I usually don't like pickles) and it was surprisingly good. They also give you a coconut lime ranch to go with it too which was good as well. I had their Bama Breeze drink which was really tasty (mango, coconut and rum). The hostess checks your temperature when you enter the bar, but I don't think the reading is very accurate. It said my temp was 94 degrees Fahrenheit which is impossible. Not too sure if someone were to have a fever how accurate the temp would be. Overall, it was a fun great experience to my first Margaritaville. read more

I was kinda disappointed with my plate. I ordered the shrimp combo which was a whopping $24 and when I received the plate looked like a bunch of freezered items thrown in the fryer then tossed on my plate. I couldn't even eat the fried fish it just didn't taste right. My French fries were over fried as well. My partner had the mahi sandwich but it was too fishy indicating it was an old mahi piece. I can't really believe the food we received it really did not leave me pleased at all. The food was completely overpriced for the quality that came out of the kitchen. Moreover, after I attempted to continue to eat I completely got nauseous and could not continue my meal. Unfortunately, won't be coming back. read more

I am a huge parrot head and because of Buffett, I always wanted to go to KW. I was so excited to go eat at the original MV! It was a disappointment. We came in 45 minutes before closing time. It was about 1/2 full in the dining area and the bar about 3/4. There were servers running around and no one acknowledged us. After we were set by the hostess we waited 30 minutes. Finally we asked a server what was going on. She said our server has been in the back and that she'd be happy to take our drink and food order. I ordered the coconut shrimp and my husband the seafood Mac. It was just okay. Definitely subpar. They gave us each a free piece of key lime pie today for having to wait. I hate that we had a bad night during our vacation- but even more so that an experience I was so looking forward to was ruined. Couldn't visit the store since it closed early as well. I was looking forward to having a great night out at the original Margaritaville in Key West and the entire experience was a disappointment. The only positive was the live music, which is no credit to the restaurant and just means the musicians are talented. The food was awful. The service was mediocre and rushed to the point where we didn't get to enjoy our round of drinks or appetizers because our appetizers and food arrived at the same time and no one bothered to ask us for drink refills or even throw us some ketchup. When I say this was bad, it involved food that was bland (bordering on inedible for 4 different people) and not worth the experience. Overpriced. We walked in and the host wasn't at post, but multiple staff walked by us without so much as a hello. Friendliest staff was the guy selling souvenir photos of our table. The whole thing was a disaster with plenty of wasted food and a very rushed vibe on a night they were not even busy. Our waitress triple checked our orders and still got it wrong and then seemed to abandon us for the night. This is a chain. I get it, but wow, I would only go there again for drinks and live music. Like another reviewer, hubby and I are also "parrotheads" and what can I say? We love to come here on our Key West visits. Fun atmosphere, fun entertainment, but mostly I like the food and drink. The volcano nachos are a must, and my very favorite drink here is always the Bama Breeze. Bama as in "Alabama", not bama that rhymes with Bahama Mama! If you like a Creamsicle, remember those things you may have eaten as a kid in summertime? Then you'll love the Bama Breeze. It reminds me of a pina colada but with orange instead of pineapple. It's not too strong, which is what I need since I'm a wimp. If you like your drinks a bit stronger, try hubby's favorite, the Perfect Margarita. Be aware though, that you will be perfectly drunk if you have too many. Cute atmosphere, and a fun store attached to it where you can buy lots of fun things you don't need, that will remind you of your tropical vacation. This time we came out with pint glasses and a big, colorful towel. For us, a trip to Key West is not complete without a stop at Margaritaville! read more

I have this "concept" if you will of Margaritaville Key West. I'm a proud parrothead and have been for decades. My wife rolls her eyes as we step inside, I'm so in the zone right now. Any adult male who has a 30 year mortgage knows Margaritaville is a fantasy, wasted away in Margaritaville might sound good at 21. When your on vacation with your wife, that's the dog house for a loooong time. The first thing I hit up is the gift shop. I grab a bumper sticker for my Jeep and a Margaritaville shirt for myself. I show my wife a pink Margaritaville shirt, she nodded a polite no thanks. Lots of cool looking clothing and flip flops. I have the urge to grab a bucket of beer at this point when I try on my shirt. I pay for my items. Now I see the bar. Wifee says, can I buy you a drink in Margaritaville? Let's find those lost shakers of salt! I can't do it. They have Margaritaville in AC. I don't want to be disappointed so? I nod no thank you and walk away. A few more years left on my Mortgage, I'll be back Margaritaville. read more

After my order was taken the waitress disappeared. She never came back to check on the food or see if drinks needed refilled. She brought the drink I ordered after I had finished my salad and the entree and had the plates pushed off to the side. I said I didn't want the drink anymore and she took it off the bill and said I could still drink it if I wanted but at that point I was done eating and just wanted to leave. The food was good and I'd probably eat here or another Margaritaville again but the service on this particular visit just didn't cut it. read more

How lame am I for not eating here before!?! On my first trip to Key West we ran and got a couple of margaritas to go(they were great!). We always say that we should eat here but never did. Well, we finally did and it was great! I stopped in first and picked up a Havana Banana to go. Although, it is always 5 o'clock somewhere, my watch said it was 4:20! I walked and enjoyed my drink, met up with my group and we all went back for a Cheeseburger in Paradise, Nachos, Half pound hot dog, conch fritters (It went from 420 to 5 oclock before we knew it!), 2 more Havana Bananas, a bloody mary, and some other really pretty drink. Planning a wedding in Key West during COVID was a giant pain in the a**. We had two other restaurants bail on us, and Margaritaville jumped in and saved the day. The team made sure we had a dedicated waitress just for us, made sure we had live music, setup the cake and the upstairs to match our wedding theme. Let's start with the fact that Clinton treats you like you are a three year old who doesn't know how to read. The server presented us with an out of date menu, and when I went to order from it, Clinton didn't say "oh, sorry, that's out of date," he literally took his finger and pointed to where he showed the expiration date like I'm an idiot. Also, after that moment, he never showed up again. I had to go to the bar for refills because he was done with us.
