First time here visiting Key West so I was expecting some good Lobster and shrimp. It was probably the worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant. Shrimp and lobster were both way overcooked and hard as rubber. Couldn't eat any of it. Fish dish we also got was pretty sad for the price. I got nauseous afterwards which has never happened to me. Then, there is Nick The Bartender (NTB). NTB is great on the drinks, great on service and conversation and great on recommendations. NTB makes a good place great. Ask for NTB if you get a chance. Honestly thought Margaritaville was a place just for margaritas, but I was pleasantly shocked to see that it was a restaurant. It's definitely eclectic with the decor pieces and the gift shop is right next door. As a party of 6, we got seated right away and our server was helpful and delightful. We ordered the volcano nachos and the appetizer sampler to start out. When they say it's a volcano, it truly is a pile of nachos. Holy moly! But absolutely delicious. I don't know how they keep it up like that. For my entree, I got the fish and chips. My goodness! The fish pieces were huge. Definitely plenty to go around. My favorite had to be the fries though! Seasoned great and it was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. All in all, I would visit this place again if I were in town. read more

Ok, so I go on about tourist traps being, meh, but I sure love this one! Give me a town with a Margaritaville and I am there! This being the true Margaritaville is something special. The first time I ever visiting this place was with my mom and I saw her get drunk (my first time seeing this) and sing on the stage. Best ever! The next few times was with hubs, and we've always had a great time. We were even there once when JB himself came in! Sitting at the bar is fun, you can hang with locals and tourists, and dining is also good, though I have never sat at a table, always dined at the bar. That just seems like the best place to be. Their veggie burger is AH-MAZING!!!!! Do yourself a favor and go by the gift shop on the way out to score some Buffett attire! read more

Food was fine but totally a weird experience from the start. Early in the afternoon, we made reservations on the Margaritaville website for 730 and later got a confirmation text and then about an hour before another text, reminding us of the reservation. When we arrived, the hostess told us that they do not take reservations. When we showed her that we made it directly on their site, she said we were the second group to do that today and her boss told her no reservations until the following week. When we asked to speak to someone she said " oh, I can seat you right now, but I'm just saying the reservation is no good". So then why even mention this? We were then seated at one of the smallest possible tables for our group of four. When we asked if we could sit somewhere with a little bit more space, she just left the table closer to the aisle, which meant white staff could not get by easily. Clinton, our server came over pretty quickly and took our drink and appetizer order. He never wrote anything down, but repeated it back to us. The drinks took quite a while over 10 minutes and then he took our food order. About 10 minutes later, we got the entrées, but still no nacho appetizer. When we asked about the nachos, he seemed to have no idea what we were talking about. I've been to several Margaritaville locations in different states and the nachos were some of the best I've ever had so I was really looking forward to this. We knew how huge they were so all ordered slightly smaller entrées thinking we would before. Suffice it to stay we were all still a bit hungry since we never had this appetizer. In the meantime, a woman was walking around and took pictures of us that she then tried to sell for $20. Very Tacky And did not make for an enjoyable meal. Then when the bill came, we had to run the credit card several times for it to be excepted. Both charges are still pending on the credit card so hoping I am only charged once for this mediocre meal. read more

Great casual restaurant!! Specially for drinking lol. Loved the food, it was really good. We ate lava lava shrimps for appetizer (totally recommended). I was down here for a short weekend getaway with my boyfriends family and we stopped in here for some quick and classic margaritas. the restaurant is just how you would expect it, very beachy with music playing and smiling servers everywhere. we sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by our awesome bartender (i don't remember his name but he wore a belt with a big peace sign on it) he told us about all of the different margaritas that they had and found us all something that we would like. we didn't try any of the food but everything looked good coming out of the kitchen. The reason for the 2 stars was cleanliness. the dining room is clean but entering the bathroom was one of the most courageous things i have done ina while. Toilet paper and trash was everywhere, soap scum all over the sink and the toilets were grimey as well. there was mold on the sprinkles on the ceilings and the bottoms of the walls were coated with dirt. i opted out of using their bathroom and walked across the street to a different restaurant. if this is what their bathroom looks like, i can't imagine the kitchen. based on the cleanliness, i don't think i would return here on my next trip to the island. read more

Just stopped in for a mixed drink to get the foul taste of cheap booze out of our mouth from the street liquor stand. The bartender was a hoot and gave my brother who is funny sarcastic a run for his money. I love when bartenders can hold their own and put men in their place (in a fun spirited way: my brother is funny not a jerk). Came here 10/10/21 quick service. Ordered coconut shrimp and a lime in the coconut. Both good. The shrimp comes with a coconut ranch which as an interesting flavor, different it good. Looks just like every other Margaritaville minus the volcano. Gift shop attached. Great first place to stop on Duval street. read more

I absolutely love Margaritaville in Key West. The food, atmosphere and staff at the restaurant are wonderful. I give the restaurant 5 stars. I do give the retail store attached to the restaurant 5 stars because they have the best Jimmy Buffet attire. However, I will never again deal with a manager named Avery. Avery gets a negative 10 rating!! I had a situation that needed to be addressed regarding a purchase I made. The 2 women behind the counter were wonderful assisting me. This gentleman (Avery) comes out of nowhere to get involved. He was very indignant and rude. He would not listen to me and the two retail clerks at all. My husband, friend and I were shocked at the belligerent and insolent behavior displayed by this man. Three words to Avery....LEARN TO LISTEN!!!!! I will continue to visit this restaurant and store every time I visit Key West, however I will completely avoid this unpalatable man. My first time at the original Margaritaville. It lives up to my expectations and love for Jimmy. The restaurant is spaced nice for wheelchair access and when at my table I did but feel in the way. The bathroom is a little tight but manageable if assistance isn't required. The margaritas were of course on point and the bartender hit us with a shot of Jimmys favorite rum which was smooth and delicious. The volcano nachos are our staple appetizer and these were so delicious and large portioned. The Burger in paradise was cooked to perfection and helped to soak up some of our drinks so we could keep the party moving. Great staff, atmosphere, and music. Jimmy must be proud. This was our first stop here in Key West after driving 8 hours from Tampa. We were so excited to get out of the car, get a margarita and chow down on some good food! The margaritas were tasty but the food was HORRRRRRIBLE! My fiancé ordered a veggie burger which he said was bland, flavorless and dry. I ordered the Cuban which was FILLED with pickles. Now I LOVE pickles but I didn't order a pickle sandwich. My side order of broccoli was so limp and covered in oil (definitely not butter). Finally we felt pressured to order. We order an app and sandwich. All comes out together. Ask if we need anything else we order another beer. He drops the beer and the check. He is back again like 5 mins later asking if we want boxes, we just got our food!! Comes back a few minutes later questioning about boxes, again. We took the boxes. It was a Saturday between 3-4pm. It was not crowded. We were in and out in 40 mins. We asked for to go cups for the beers just to get out of there. I could barely enjoy my food because our server was pushing us out of there. On a solo trip to Key West, I passed Margaritaville during a tour. I really didn't know much about it except for Jimmy Buffet and the little dinners I see in my supermarket frozen aisle. The tour guide mentioned that this location was THE first, so I figured it would be great to try it out. Kind of bummed that I chose to dine here over one of the local spots. Firstly, Margaritaville was packed when I got there a little after 2pm. There was no one at the front booth to greet me so I opted to sit at the bar, which was a little cramped but I was able to grab a seat. The establishment looks like a casual dining restaurant adorned with Jimmy Buffet memorabilia and beach themed artwork on the walls. After being out in the sun taking endless pics all morning, I just wanted a tasty meal and a cool drink. Alcohol seems to be the specialty (hence the name lol), but I'm not much of a drinker, so I had cranberry juice. I peered at the menu and ordered the 'Landshark Lager Fish & Chips' entree. It features beer battered fish paired with french fries and jalapeño tartar sauce. Honestly, the food tasted bad. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't very tasty either. Even the aesthetics of the meal in my opinion was bad. It featured three large pieces of fried fish shaped liked thick fish sticks, surrounded by a portion of fries and a plastic cup of tartar sauce; lets just say Red Lobster does a wayyyy better job. I don't know what type of fish this was but it tasted like it was previously frozen and the texture was mealy. The beer used in the batter was overbearing so when paired with the jalapeño tartar sauce, it was a tangy taste which I did not like. The fries were standard but dry, nothing special. I did not finish my meal only because of time constraints, but overall, I wasn't pleased. Service was great, no issues, very attentive. Overall, 3 stars for good service but sub-par food. I'd probably return to another one of the Margaritaville Restaurants to try something else but i'm not eager. read more

I will start by saying I am a HUGE Buffett fan been to 20 or so concerts. The restaurant was a huge letdown. Lighting was way to bright for a friday nite. Music was lame and didnt have the party energy atmosphere. We went back the next day anout 4 ish and The video screen was not on and I feel like it could have been showing video footage of some of his shows. I felt like we we're in an Airport bar and the menu looked like an IHOP menu. Very generic and sterile feel to this place. Food and staff were Ok though. Margaritaville has always been one of my favorite places to go, whenever or wherever I go on vacation.

Normally when on vacation I try to stick to places that I won't find anywhere else. In this case, it was Cinco de Mayo and all the authentic Mexican restaurants were jam packed so we found 2 seats at the bar here. It wasn't too crowded or too noisy and we just wanted to put something in our bellys before heading out for the night. We started with margaritas and they were just ok. I prefer fresh and these definitely tasted like a sour mix was used. We then decide we would order the volcano nachos and if still hungry maybe a salad after. The nachos were enough! They were piled high with chili, cheese, pico, sour cream and jalapeños. The 2 of us didn't even make it halfway though. For the price of the nachos and 1 margaritas it wasn't too bad. As far as the service, our bartender was fine (as a bartender myself, I think my standards are pretty average) but could have been more attentive. But it's fine, we're in KW!! The biggest disappointment of the night was the live show.... that never started. We got super excited to see the band perform but they literally "warmed up" and just hung out on stage for at least 30 minutes. What a tease. I'm a fan because of the nostalgia that follows Jimmy Buffet's Original Margaritaville. This is the first and original location on Duval St in Key West, Florida. A very lively bar and stage for live performances, we had a window seat to see the strollers down Duval St at lunchtime. The menu has burgers, sandwiches, salad and of course the infamous boiled shrimp. Large selection of beers, hard liquor and a large assortment of flavored margaritas. I ordered the fish tacos with more Mahi Mahi, it seems like that is the only fish I ate down in Florida. A little dry with the sauce and cabbage piled on. The taco shells were better with a side order of rice and beans. I didn't have a Margarita or a Land Shark lager, I had a bud light with lime. A fun experience that I will not forget, worth the visit when you visit Key West, Florida. read more

A tour boat docks here every day except Thursday, and the boatload of tourists all seem to head for this place. We stopped in this busy facility for one of their cool libations at the insistence of my DIL and son. I had a coupon for key lime pie, they refused to honor it. The waiter said that Management would have to see the coupon, when I pulled it up, she refused to come to my table. Being the epitome of Parrotheads, this was a destination spot for us - we actually came here twice over the weekend First visit found us at the bar getting the "Perfect Margarita" & it definitely lived up to its name - made from scratch, there was a ton of flavor & depth to this drinky. We loved it! In fact, this was the deciding factor to come back the 2nd day.......this time, the "perfection" was not there & was actually the opposite. Guess your bartender makes all the difference. This day was a different bartender & the drinks surely were evidence of this Bitter & watery, we were very disappointed. The nachos ( no chili ) however were tasty & there was a nice ratio of cheese to chips. but another disappointing point of note is that this was the ONLY vegetarian item on their menu - not counting the spinach-artichoke dip. Veggies like cheeseburgers in paradise too you know! So overall, have to say A-OK. You'll want to check on which bartender is mixing your drinks before committing to your margarita read more
