It was a disappointment to come here. Me and my wife ordered 2 different burgers, but the server brought us the same, and that supposed to have bacon, but we didn't find any. For $15, it was a waste of money, it wasn't tasty at all. Everything was dirty, tables, restrooms. I don't recommend to go there. read more

I have been here a couple of time is the past. I was shocked to see the ratings of the place and though I would give it a try anyways. The restaurant is in the tourist area of Key West and easily accessed. When we arrived we were promptly greeted and shown to our seat. The menu selection is not as extensive as the bar menu. They have a kids menu, but I thought the items were a little pricy. There was no live music on the day we visited, but it was still a nice atmosphere. Overall the prices are on the higher side, but what do you expect for Key West on Duval Street. I ordered the Fish and Chips and it came complete with fries and slaw. The food came out hot and fresh. The fish is cod and is beer battered and comes with jalapeño tartar sauce. The food was very good I cannot say one negative thing about it. read more

I came here the other night and we had chat as our server I liked the fact that he was from New Orleans so we had a lot to talk about He was very friendly and we ordered a few things I have been to about 10 different Margaritaville's in the United States and the islands and I couldn't believe how small this location was what I didn't like and why I took a star off was because the mashed potatoes looked pretty gross and the bathrooms were very far away upstairs and then you had to walk through a big hall The live music wasn't that great we spent most of the time wondering if the singer with the black hair was a man or a woman so it was good people watching With what they charge for each meal you would think that you would get a bigger portion or that they would do some updating but I guess they want to keep it intact Chad was good. read more

I was expecting this place to be a completely cheesy touristy restaurant. This place lived up to my expectations fully ;-) I had to order a Cheeseburger in Paradise. I mean come on it's Margaritaville for god's sake. It was dressed exactly as the song indicates and I must say that this is a pretty damn good combination. I wish the burger would have been a bit more memorable though. i had conch fritters which I have never had before and they were pretty tasty too. I had a Landshark lager which is a local brew and it was very "Corona-ish" and very refreshing. We sat up in the balcony so we were able to see the big projection screen showing various concert clips of Jimmy which made for a decent atmosphere. I mean it is his place right? Service was marginal. Now that I said that I have been there, I probably won't be back If I am ever in the area again. read more

Who walks in a popular restaurant on a Friday Night at 1130pm with Party of 20 and half of the party is hungry Coral Springs Charter High School Football players that just BEAT Key West High. ME. I made reservations at Half Shell earlier in the week, but when I called at 1030p to tell them the game just ended they said they had closed the kitchen already...so here we came. We ordered a shitload of food and drinks. Everything was fantastic, but the high light of the evening was the service. The manager and our server were excellent. Really they didn't miss a beat slinging food and drinks out to our table with ease. Just a great job, thank you. Stopped in here for a quick drink on our visit down to KW. Great atmosphere, great music playing, great crowd and the food looked really good. Margarita was made very sweet but strong...just like I love it. Full bar including beers. Bartenders, despite being busy, were very attentive. Open floor seating. If there is a Jimmy Buffett's anywhere, I am there. Mainly for the huge volcano nachos & cocktails. So I was really excited to see there is one in Key West. My husband and I went in last night to sample the infamous nachos. There was a great atmosphere, live music and people dancing. It attracts an older crowd, than somewhere we would typically go, but it was good for people watching! The nachos did not disappoint, although they were extra cheesy and I would have liked more of the other toppings as well. We didn't even finish them between the 2 of us! Cocktails were good, but no happy hour. Service was good. Music was good. A great spot to drop by when out in Key West. read more

The drinks are very good and you have to have a Margarita here, but I like mine on the rocks, not frozen. I really enjoyed the Lava Lava Shrimp - Breaded and fried then tossed with Asian aioli sauce. this definitely has a nice kick to it. I also liked the Corn & Crab Chowder - Blue crab and corn simmered in a crab broth with a hint of cayenne and a touch of cream. The Cheeseburgers are good, but nothing special, but we all love the song Cheeseburgers in paradise, right? The ever-so-popular ORIGINAL Margaritaville was neat to venture into. There was a lot of memorabilia to look at and music-a-blarin' I have to admit I wasn't horribly impressed with the place being that it was THEE Margaritaville; as it was dark and dim without any windows other than the front doors. It was small inside but there wasn't a lot to the space. The food was okay - but we'd had the food before in Orlando at another location. I've had better conch fritters myself. The service was not that great either. We had coupons for free drinks that were tough to get honored and the waitress took forever to come back fo requests. If you stop in here, it'll just be to say you were here, but don't expect a whole lot - there are plenty of other awesome places in Key west to stop in for a margarita! read more

The waitress was not friendly and didn't come to the table to ask if we needed anything else. Even when picking up the plate she didn't ask how it was. No "thank you for coming in." I'm a HUGE parrothead, and the last time I was in a Margaritaville was 1997 in New Orleans so I wanted to try the original since I'm spending a week in Key West. I am very biased against chain restaurants so this joint could only rate four stars from me... Lose one for being corporate. Lol. We were greeted quickly and the hostess let me choose the table under the framed "A1A" album which holds a special meaning to me since my cousin lent it to me when I was 10 ( she never got it back). Our server was a cool guy who was right at our table and super friendly. He fit the average tailgating parrothead stereotype. The food was good and solid, much like I remember in Nawlins ( there goes that star) . I had the Cheeseburger in Paradise (of course) and we shared the conch fritters which were delicious. Then we got sloppy pounding down multiple " perfect margaritas" they were so potent it was almost lethal lol. My one complaint, and it almost made them lose another star ( and they would have if it was anybody but Jimmy Buffet's place) my gf ordered a seltzer. THEY HAD THE BALLS TO CHARGE $3.25 for SELTZER. Is there a seltzer shortage looming on the horizon I don't know about? Seriously, I didn't feel like a tourist until I saw that on the bill. When they say the bathroom is 3 miles away they're not kidding... :) You go through the hall way, stiff stairs, more hallway to get to the restrooms. The server JP (I think) was friendly and ensured we were comfortable and got everything we needed. Our cups never stayed empty. We ordered chicken tenders from the appetizer menu and it was so delicious! Lots of meat and very little crispy outside cover. Rancho deluxe burger was delicious except that there was too much pickles on it and on the side. But we were able to take it off and enjoy our burgers. I wish Yelp allowed review titles -- this one would be "Wasted a meal again in Margaritaville". :) Despite the cliché, I went ahead and had the cheeseburger (Key West is pretty close to paradise, afterall). It was *lame*. First off, it was greasy in a not-good way (a greasy cheeseburger can be delicious, if it's the other kind of greasy from this one). The onion and tomato were nearly plastic. Worse yet, I did the $1 upgrade to onion rings. They were truly horrible. I ended up not finishing them. Had there been cool ambiance (more than a couple signs and a big screen) or something else redeeming, I'd have been willing to overlook the bad food. But the whole thing was a disappointment. Stop in the store, and buy a T-shirt or CD if you must, but skip the restaurant -- there are so many better places in Key West. read more

To be honest, I had expected a bit more from the "original" Margaritaville. I say this only because I've also recently traveled to several other locations (Grand Cayman, Grand Turk, and Las Vegas). Yes, the atmosphere was nice, so was the weather and the people. But nothing particularly "wowed" me. I did think the painted ceiling was a cute touch. The trek to the bathroom, however, was a bit confusing. Once out, though, there was a sizeable gift shop and window at the front of the place for people-watching. I did like that it was located close to everything in downtown Key West. Not a Parrot-Head myself, I still enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks, music, and company, but not 100% sure I'd go out of my way to go back. read more

Margaritaville has always been an average touristy place. This is the home of them all and it's got style. Great bar, Buffett music on the big screen. Both of our drinks were strong and satisfying and the volcano nachos were crazy large and good. They had just about everything you could ever want on nacho's and were stacked nearly a foot hight. my parents are big jimmy buffet fans so it was no surprise that this was where we chose to eat, the place is beautifully decorated with jimmy buffet references everywhere. our server was very polite and got our drinks and food out relatively quickly. however, all i ordered was the volcano nachos and i went home with really bad food poisoning. was vomiting every 30 minutes from 8pm - 11:30pm. super gross, don't know what in those nachos wasn't cooked right or contaminated, would definitely come back if it weren't for me getting so sick, but unfortunately now i'm scared of their food. everything else was wonderful though. read more

My husband and I went in late one Saturday evening tired and hungry. Jonathan was playing music and he did a fantastic job. What a treat listening to him. We ate at the bar and everything was served hot with little wait time. Even with a big bachelor party upstairs the kitchen did not delay our meals. We had a great time.
