Not sure how this place is getting three stars. Stellar wings, reasonable prices, great booze, solid atmosphere and excellent service. You have to put in the rotation. Food ok. Fries mostly soggy and cold. Service is dismal. Order several drinks because it will be after meal by the time your offered another. The only reason to even come in would be the notoriety. I really wanted to enjoy it and get my "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and a great Marg. But it left me short, and the 3 times I've been there. Dont get me wrong, the food is decent, but not worth the price. And the same with the margs. Nice set up and decor and all, but you're paying for the name in the location I'm afraid. The gift shop is also tight and cramped and always busy.. hey its Margaritaville... so dont ya what to say you actually been to the real McCoy. Okay, yes, it was sort of 'hack' to come here on my first night back in Key West but one of my life's guilty pleasures is the damn blackened chili cheese dog that they have here. If you go at lunch you get two regular sized dogs and for dinner, it's one longer hotdog (it was almost a footlong) I can't explain the flavor, but it's a hotdog blackened with chili powder and then chili and tons of cheese. You get their regular fries and I love to use the Heinz 57 sauce as a dippin' sauce for the fries. Pure heaven. It's probably the 3rd or 4th time I've eaten at a Margaritaville (including the one in New Orleans) and I'm just thankful that they haven't opened one in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, otherwise, I'd turn into one of those dogs. Bartender pours heavy with a smile. Did not have the food this go around, but the margaritas are great. Smooth. Well rounded, and on the rocks. The place has been around for several years and grown. Key West and Margaritaville, just a land mark. It was during a slow time of year for Key West, not a lot going on. Would love to see more live music here, and the place needs a real clean up. The store area was par on, clean and together. Not sure what was going on in the food area. I did go there twice because I enjoy the drinks, tv and social time at the bar. I may live in FL, but I am not a Parrothead. I actually detest most Buffet tunes, unless I'm singing them with dirty words replacing the real ones. I have some obnoxious relatives that live in the Keys, they are Parrotheads. They love this place despite the fact that it's a tourist trap and they are local. No accounting for taste. Key West is a river of booze and there are plenty of other places to get a great margarita but if you just looove Jimmy you will probably love it here. read more

I've had 2 servers pass me up several times over the last 10 minutes. Have a menu , but, no interest in putting in an order. Wife went to the store next door and just returned and we both just sat and watched the servers walk in and around us. I have stopped into this place a few times this week and have found that many of the basics are lacking. If this chain is under new management they have lost the spark that made Margaritaville the fun place it was. read more

I've been wanting to go here for quite some time. After Fantasy Fest, my friends and I were looking for a place to (pee) finish off the night. Walking through the crowds was difficult, and every shop and restaurant turned us away. Finally, we entered Margaritaville. The servers practically invited to use their bathrooms. Sorry to be graphic, but I'm describing their hospitality compared to the rest of Key West on the even of Fantasy Fest. We decided to spend a good portion of our evening here sharing drinks and food. I put one star because it's the lowest. It was supposed to be a happy day, but it was a sad day at margaritaville. Ordered watermelon margaritas which tasted like straight up mix-horrible. They were kind enough to exchange drinks which we would have expected. Bad margarita at margarita ville? Calamari tasted Like little circles of oil- no flavor- clearly frozen. They make such a big deal over their "hand battered" thing, everything on the menu is most likely frozen and then fried. Coconut shrimp had coconut on it, but that was about it, no additional flavor. Dipping sauce tasted like it came straight out of a jar of orange marmalade. Prices are high, which is to be expected on duval st, but that doesn't justify serving such low qual food and drank. Server was nice, apologetic and tried her best, but we would never eat there again. Ever. Oh. The key lime pie was satisfactory but guessing that's not made in house. We were drawn to this Margaritaville because being in Key West, how could you not do anything related to Jimmy Buffet? That said, the experience here was just ordinary. The conch fritters weren't anything to boast about -- a big disappointment since we were looking forward to tasting fresher conch. The "original" margarita was pretty good, though. My sister and I had our b-day dinner here. We had a couple mixed fruity drinks which were very tasty and I got the BBQ Ribs, which were delicious. My sister got the burger, which she seemed to enjoy as well. The fries were okay, not great. Server was very friendly and pretty swift for how packed it was. Yummy Margaritas!!!!!! This place has a great atmosphere, the service was ideal, and the food was really good. I had the Coconut Shrimp with mash potatoes and veggies, for my kids I ordered only one meal after the server suggested so, because they serve big portions, and it worked out great. Had to go to Jimmy B's while visiting Key West. It's a very cool place and the atmosphere makes you feel like the man is there. We each ordered conch fritters. They were very good although a little too heavy breading. We washed them down with a couple of Blue Moon beers and felt like we were in heaven. This is a must stop when you visit Duval Street. read more

One of those MUST GO places when your are in Key west. It's the original location so it's not as grand as the other I've been to (Orlando) but they make a pretty mean drink and always have good music. I always stick with a hurricane and one will get you nice and tight. The food is nothing special- typical touristy stuff so I usually refrain from eating there. read more

The Lava Lava Shrimp appetizer is great and the cheeseburgers in paradise are good. It took an inordinate length of time for the food to be delivered, the appetizer and burgers. When they arrived my wife's burger was undercooked. The next burger was perfect. The manager did stop by to check on things and she was nice. We were in key west for a few days being touristy so we decided to try the original margaritaville. We have been to the one in Vegas. The food here is good. Service is good. Waitress was nice and on top of it all with service. The volcano nachos are so good. The whole atmosphere is just different than other locations. I would definitely go back. It was a good experience. I wasn't initially excited to go to Margaritaville, mainly because I was unimpressed with the location in Myrtle Beach. Yet this was where everyone else wanted to go so we tagged along. It proved to be better than I expected, but it was still an alright meal. Located on Duval St., this Margaritaville location is apparently "the original", so I guess it's a mecca for Jimmy Buffet fanboys. Unlike the one in Myrtle, this one is smaller, quieter and not as flashy, all of which are great things, though the music was still a bit too loud for my taste (especially since we were seated directly below the speakers on the second floor. We went with a very large group and had a fixed menu to choose from, so I can't comment on the menu as a whole. We all started with a cocktail and I had the Sweet Tea Rita which used margarita mix, unsweet tea and Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka. I got the small ($8.75) and that was more than enough for me, but most others got the huge blender cups that were about $15. I ordered the catch of the day, which was a blackened grouper. The blackening spice was very nice, and fish was a decent quality. It also came with a mango chutney that went really went well with the fish, and there was a decent amount of it. The dish also came with some rice that was ok and some bland roasted veggies. The service was fast enough given the size of the group, the food was decent and the restaurant employees didn't walk about on stilts singing "Margaritaville", which are all perks to going here. read more

This is the original Margaritaville location and it's on Duval Street so its much much smaller than the location in Orlando but its got great character and theming which captures the Jimmy Buffet fan/island vacation feel all in one. Pros: *If you are a Jimmy Buffet and Kenny Chesney fan then sit back and enjoy the music (live or not) *The buffalo wing appetizer is actually much better than i expected but have a glass of water ready because they have a kick to them! *Drinks are yummy Cons: *Service left much to be desired. The downside of this being a tourist destination and landmark is that the service seems to take their business for granted. Our waiter was with us within minutes of being seated but our drinks took a good 15 minutes to arrive, which, for a place named after a Margarita, should at least be speedy behind the bar. *Price. There are so many great local places on Duval street to eat and drink that offer much better deals so overall I'd say visit this place once just to experience it but just make it a drink and appetizer place to save your meal money for a better bargain. read more

Very very Busy. Being THE Margaritaville of course it is going to be packed. Tables are very small and barely seat 4 people comfortably. It is very nicely decorated and has a wild theme to it. The menu is a bit overpriced for some pretty music basic american food with 'island' names. The gift-shop is not too much better. Visited post quarantine from COVID-19. All the food was good, service was fine. Masks were required when you walked in but could be taken off when you sat down. We enjoyed the drinks and happy hour sales! The cheeseburgers were delicious along with the conch fritters and lava shrimp. The drinks are phenomenal here. They do things with frozen beverages that should be illegal they are so enchantingly tasty. The Mojitos were like drinking a Spanish Inquisition into the reasons behind why I hadn't had a Mojito that good before. Since we came mainly for the Jimmy Buffet Margarita experience, this place met and exceeded our expectations on the drink front. We got wasted away in Margaritaville, baby. The food was good. We had Surf & Turf, and the Chicken-broccoli pasta. Simple, to the point, and complemented by drinks suggested to us by our very considerate and friendly server. I like mine with lettuce and tomato ... a big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer - which is NOT available here! Hard to believe that any Jimmy Buffet's cafe would NOT serve cold draft beer, since, like the line above, it's part of the song, "Cheeseburger in Paradise." I will say this: when I tried to order a draft, and was told it was not available, I couldn't help but ask the waiter (with a smirk on my face), "Whatever happened to a big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer?" Without batting an eyelash, he came back with "Whatever happened to not particular, not too precise?" Touché! He looked very pleased with himself. (For those non-Buffet fans who are totally lost at this point, try Googling "Cheeseburger in Paradise lyrics.") As for the rest of the food... We went there twice in three nights, and both times I ordered (you guessed it) the Cheeseburger in Paradise. Yeah, I liked it. And at least there was Heinz 57 for the French fried potatoes. Over the course of two visits, I must say the food was pretty good - but not fantastic. Even the burger, while enjoyable, was NOT as good as the one I'd had earlier at the Parrotdise Waterfront Bar and Grill at Big Pine Key, on our drive from Key Largo to Key West. Neither was the key lime pie (although I don't think I've ever had BAD key lime pie anywhere). Landshark (JB's signature beer) was good; so was the Margarita. (They BETTER have good Margaritas if the restaurant includes it in its name!) Next door, there is a great souvenir shop at the Margaritaville Store - including a cookbook and book of drink recipes, so you can go home and do the cooks at the restaurant (or two) better. read more

I love some of Jimmy Buffet's songs and think he is a pretty interesting guy with all of the music, tours, books and restaurants. He's a mega-money industry all by himself, as the Aussies would say (Good for ya Jimmy). So if you squak Buffetism's and know all of the tunes, then go here. But to me and this is just my opinion guys, this place is a touristy magnet for the off-loading cruise ship patrons who just look for the familiar and safe. Nothing imaginative to eat here really, just your standard fare. You can do so much better in Key West than this, just take a chance or ask a local.
