We came for my dad's birthday dinner. The location is great. Margie's is located on the first floor of the Rockaway hotel. He has a very nice large dining room space as well as bar area. You can enter from the main drive or through the hotel. We have reservations for 4:00 pm and we were seated shortly after the service was great. We had a really wonderful waiter. Frank, the bartender, made me feel extremely uncomfortable during my visit. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere did not feel welcoming. What stood out the most was that I was the only person at the bar who was asked to put a card on file. Even another customer noticed how unusual it was and offered to pay for my round because he felt the situation was unfair. That alone should tell you how uncomfortable the interaction was. Everyone should be treated fairly and consistently. Assumptions should never be made about customers because you do not know who is walking into your establishment. My review is solely for my half prime rib French dip sandwich that my fiancé bought back as leftovers for dinner. It was cold by the time it made it home but it was still so delicious. I already finished dinner but still manage to eat a good chunk of the sandwich. The French dip was definitely a perfect pairing, along with the perfectly caramelized onions and Gruyère cheese. We had breakfast there the morning of 5/30/26 (we were attending a wedding). There was an older gentleman with an Irish accent who was very sweet & funny. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac's disease, so the staff made sure I was able to get something without getting sick. It's hard to find a good pork chop cooked perfectly but we did! My blackberry spritz was DELIGHTFUL. Everything about Margie's is amazing, we are from Florida and come to stay at the Rockaway 2-3 times a year, we never miss a chance to eat at Margie's. This place is phenomenal! If you're within a few miles (JFK airport) and you have time, do visit this place. I sat at the bar so I only dealt with the bar staff. These folks were exceptional, very informative and put me in the right direction. I had the pork chop and have to say it was probably the best pork chop I've ever had. The restaurant is part of the Rockaway hotel so has the sophisticated beach to it. But regardless, the food is top notch and quite reasonable! Margie's is such a cute spot. I love the dressed up diner style vibes. It's connected to the Rockaway Hotel and there's lots of free street parking. I walked in for a late lunch and it was surprisingly empty. There's a full bar and a nice selection of soups, salad, sandwiches, and big plates, and appetizers on the menu. I went for a soup and grilled cheese since it was a little gloomy outside. My friends got the burger, poke bowl, and veggie burger. All were plated nicely and aimed to fill you up. The portions are big but I didn't have any leftovers. I'm here to discuss the soup. This is a chunky one with a big tomato flavor. It came out piping hot and I greatly appreciated it. The soup was made to dunk into and the crusty bread was the perfect invitation. I got into it! Each dunk and crunch was rotated with conversation. The caramelized onion in the sandwich was a nice touch. Go ahead and order this, I dare you. It came with a lovely side salad. It was bursting with colors and texture. Margie's, please don't change. Second time here and I'm always pleased with the wait staff and the hostess. It was packed. The rooftop stopped serving lite bites so I made my way down for a spread at Margie's. I didn't think I was hungry until I looked at the full menu again. The waitlist was full but it was only two of us so we scored when a reservation didn't make their time. Chris was our server and I feel like I left with a new friend. Great hire guys! He's a keeper. The drinks are my fav. There's a spicy margarita type of drink and a Smokey mezcal drink that will keep you coming back. Ordered the watermelon arugula salad, the burrata and the lobster pasta. All very delicious. I visited the Rockaway Hotel and stopped by their restaurant. As someone who grew up in the rockaways, it was nice to see a quaint sophisticated establishment along the rockaways. Starting with the bread it was the best table bread I have ever had at a restaurant. If they would've only served me bread, I would've been satisfied. It also came with this butter that melts in your mouth like you wouldn't believe. For my entrée I had the salmon dish and I did not enjoy it unfortunately. The salmon was Bland and it was on a bed of random vegetables that just did not seem to fit very well together and the vegetables were bland. We also ordered calamari for the table and they were OK. I ordered the truffle fries and they were pretty good as well. In all, I would definitely return and explore the rest of the menu. read more

I have been to Margie's twice and both times have been exceptional experiences. All parties involved raved about the variety of food and drinks as well as the great service received.
