It was a gorgeous day, it wasn't too crowded, just a few families with their surf boards, kites, picnic packs, etc. Downside...there was a warning not to touch the water or wet sand that was under the little bridge because it was full of bacteria, etc. That was a big turn off!!! The beach consisted of mostly drift wood...which was kind of cool, and you could see where people had made a fort out of it. It wasn't a huge beach as far as sand, maybe when the ride goes out? It wasn't the greatest beach ever...wasn't the worst...DEFINITELY 100% better than Possession Beach that we tried. We were able to get out and sit in the sand for a bit. Would've been nice if there wasn't so much dog poop in the sand!!!

Sadly we didn't hit it on a day the lighthouse was open but it was interesting to walk around the grounds. The bathroom was large and clean. You use your phone to pay for parking but it's not expensive. Food options are just steps away, and train enthusiasts will appreciate the locomotives that rumble by periodically. There are several community fire pits available for family gatherings, as well as benches that encourage one to sit and contemplate life, or watch the sunset turn the sky shades of pink and coral.

The west entrance has a short downhill path beginning with the whale sighting bell (if you see an orca, you ring it!) and around the middle of the trail, there is a staircase that goes back up to 1st ave. If an orca sighting is found to be nearby, this is where you want to stop to try to have a look. There were several times people have sighted orcas just 25 feet from this park!
