We arrived between 6-630p and the main parking lot was full, but there was another lot close by that had some spots open. Lots of people were swimming and hanging out on the beach. There were lots of boats and jet skis too. It was a really great night/sunset with the canyons surrounding the lake. Kind of a cloudy sky, but the stars eventually came out! A very relaxing time! Once here there are several routes you can take varying from easy to challenging. Most importantly, please wear appropriate footwear!! I saw an older guy wearing Crocs without the back supports going up the path and he nearly toppled backwards several times. I was very worried for his well-being - this path really requires socks and shoes. Of note, depending on when you go and which direction you choose to go in, one side of the mountain has no relief from the sun - it is hot! The other side is shaded and pleasant. Whichever route you take, make sure to bring liquids to hydrate and know your limit. You can always get to a lower elevation and walk around the mountain if it gets too steep.

And how do you know when you're at the bridal path? When you get to the horseshoe and dirt path. Yep. I'm serious. And, it's in the middle of Phoenix. I love the bridle path. It's my favorite place to get a good jog in and do a good bit of people watching at the same time. And stay in the city. When I'm not on a hike, this is usually where my run takes me. It is a little bit of the olden days right here in the city. The path is pretty frequented on weekend mornings, especially Saturdays, but it's not too crowded that there won't be room for you. Trust me. You should try it out. You'll get a good workout, some beautiful scenery, and it's a lot better than running on the pavement :)

Check water levels ahead of time as some times during the year it may be low. The water often looks like glass. It's not only beautiful, but an amazing spot for fishing and camping. If you're an angler looking for a quiet spot this is it. It's been said it's one of the best fishing areas in Arizona with the filling of the reservoir. Nearby is the dam where you may catch the spillway releasing water. SRP shows release dates to see the waterfall. Vault toilets are in the area, but few and did not look like the trash or paper had been emptied/filled in some time. The road is about 10 miles unpaved to this location, high clearance recommended.

Right near a number of the restaurants, shops, and parking is The Park at PV. It's a grassy area that is great for special events, relaxing with gelato, just taking it easy and people watching, or even walking dogs. I've enjoyed visiting The Park at PV on several occasions in the last so many months. The first time I enjoyed sitting around the park is right after Frost opened with its tasty gelato. My wife and I each got a scoop of gelato and sat down in the large chairs and people watched at the edge of the Park at PV. Also, around that time, Federal Pizza held its "Pizza Party" (though not much pizza there) where they had free samples of their pizza and other booths set up along The Park at PV. The Park at PV hosts activities and events that are family friendly. Nowadays they are hosting Sunset Sweat, a summer evening outdoor class sponsored by Visit Phoenix, You bring your own yoga mat, towel, water bottle, sunscreen, and friends, and the class is taken care of as is the nearby complimentary covered parking in the structure just steps from the park. The Park at PV also hosts the Fall Family Movie Nights, which are Visit Phoenix-sponsored movie nights with a big screen. Simply bring blankets, chairs, and grab dinner and snacks nearby, and you can enjoy a night under the starts each month. Later this month, they are hosting the new Lilo & Stitch. I have this feeling that as the PV continues to grow, so will the offerings at The Park at PV.
