The neighborhood has definitely quieted down since my childhood days--a time when kids roamed the streets and claimed the ends of culdisacs in numbers on their bikes or rollerblades, both after school and on the weekends. Now however, you won't see much of that. Today the neighborhood is predominantly made up of an older crowd. In fact I don't think I've seen anyone younger than the high school age in the area for some time now, and my parents recently mentioned that they couldn't remember the last time they had a trick-or-treater. So if you're looking to start and/or raise a young family, this probably isn't the ideal neighborhood for you. If you're looking for a quieter more grown scene however, then look no further! As far as the West side of the greater metro Phoenix area goes, the Arrowhead Lakes Estates are by far the best place to call home and everyone knows it. The development offers both lake view properties as well as golf course properties with gorgeous views of the nearby mountains and of course, the lake itself. My experience living here has been on the water, and I wouldn't have it any other way! Who wants to pick up golf balls from your netted yard everyday anyway? The only a downfall to a golf course property. Almost every lake front property has a boat dock to fish off of and accompanying boats to boast which makes sunsets and sunrises all the more beautiful. At Christmas time there is even a light parade open to all who have a boat to participate in. Such a great way to kick off the holiday season! The lake winds around the development--essentially connecting all properties, and even has beautiful waterfalls aligning its path at various stops for your viewing pleasure. All in all, this is a gorgeous place to live, or in my case, get to come home to when I need a break from life.

With nicely maintained roads running out of Cave Creek to the lake it's always a pleasant ride. There is a cafe there if you want to have lunch, which overlooks the lake as well. Every time I am there it makes me want to get a houseboat and ditch city life. One of these days maybe.

Totally worth seeing both when in the area. The drive was beautiful. Water levels are a bit low, but still amazing. The flowers are already in bloom, but will be even better by end of February into March if you'd love to see them. I love poppies but there are so many more flowers also in bloom, to see the best area I'd recommend the area just before Rattlesnake Cove . There is a small trail with roadside parking if lucky. Or can park in the cove parking and small hike back up to area. You do need to pay for a rec pass if parking and spending the day. You can purchase at stores nearby or roadside spots you'll see along the way. Traffic wasn't too bad today but as it warms up and flowers more in bloom be prepared. There is also a restaurant near the boat dock as well.

The trails are clean, dogs welcome everywhere, horses in designated areas, camp sites also available to rent which come with bbq grills and pits along with space for tents. Check out their website for the info. This is a great park to take your kids to the playground, go fishing, get your steps in, take your dog food a walk or have a date. Many picture perfect spots which are popular for graduation, wedding, and birthday pics. I even saw a couple get married on the bridge at sunset a quick 5 minute ceremony to not hold up anyone. Parking in a few spots and adjacent to the library for extra parking. 2 bathrooms I've been to are clean and maintained. Water fountains also there.

In the last 10 months I have taken two trips with Cinda - one with my FIL and one with my wife…read more The first trip, with my Father-in-law, we were on a technical stream with skinny water and Cinda led us right to fish. Cinda recommended the right flies, retrieved flies from my trophy tree branch catches and tied on flies when I would crack my fly line like a whip and send the fly into the aspens. She provided lunch, laughter, education and insight. The second trip was a two day trip and was better than the first outing. Cinda worked closely with my wife on fly selection and casting on day one and on day two went to great lengths to explore many parts of the river with me. She worked with me on technique and despite the cold (ice in my guides) she was happy to endure my clumsiness. Cinda has the patience of Job and great skills, is personable and easy to talk to. I have worked with several guides in AZ, AK and UT and I can tell you that Cinda is the most professional, most knowledgeable fly fishing guide in AZ.

The park maintains a recreational path for running, walking, biking and rollerblading. It features a lake that spreads across an area of over ten acres, and I liked the walking route established around the lake a lot.
