Seafood or shrimp cocktails on the way to go! They have a nice variety of margaritas. I went with the combo platter which was delicious and my lady had kind of an odd salad and had an Asian theme to it. Although with carne asada which is really delicious. Anyways, they worked out and I tasted good. They have some really spicy sauces. If you want them, just ask for the extra jars. We will be back! read more

The service is so slow and they are so understaffed. I have been waiting for over an hour for a bean and cheese burrito to go. I will not be coming back. I feel bad for the workers here who obviously do not have enough help. Update - after taking about 10 minutes to charge my card and still not having my food ready. I had to leave. An hour and 20 minutes for two bean and cheese burritos and two cheese quesadillas! They did not even need to be cooked. I should've been in and out of there within 30 minutes tops. Had to leave without my food that I paid for to tend to my children because my sitter could not stay. Absolutely ridiculous amount of time. You definitely get a great amount of food. It tastes amazing. It's definitely an authentic Mexican restaurant. The one thing I didn't know is that they have a lunch menu. They don't give it to you. I only know because last time I was there I heard a lady ask for it. That would have been nice to know because I usually can't eat it all & can't take it with me as I'm not going straight home. This is our second time there. Last year the first time all the food was delicious. This time I ordered two chille Rellenos à la carte and my wife ordered the two chicken enchilada combination. We asked ahead of time if the chicken was all white meat (mean breast meat) and the waitress said yes it was. When it was delivered my wife cut into it for the first bite and it was anything but chicken breast. There's all different parts of the chicken, some unrecognizable. She couldn't even eat it. The beans and the rice were also very bland in flavor. Both of my chilies were smothered, in what tasted like enchilada sauce. The cheese used inside didn't have much flavor to it. Not sure what went wrong this time but maybe because Stagecoach was this weekend and it was on a Saturday when we went. Not sure if we'll come back a third time. Very disappointing, after waiting around 40 minutes to get our food, we got very disappointed with it. I had the lengua and my husband had menudo. The service was equally disappointing because she never came to us to explain why it was taking forever to bring the food, there was literally 6 people including us. And if you are Mexican you expect more Mexican tortillas not the ones like at the American market. The ambience is okay they had good Mexican music and is not loud that's good! After spending a few days eating at the downtown Palm Springs restaurants, I decided to take the recommendation of my friends who actually live in the area and try one of their favorite local joints, Mariachi Mexican Cuisine. It's about a 20-25 min drive from downtown and located in a non-descript strip mall, but IMHO, the food is worth the trip. Walking in, you can definitely tell this is a mom and pop joint frequented by the locals of the Palm Springs area. The dining room is an odd almost "L-Shaped" configuration, with booths and a few tables scattered about. I'd suggest getting one of the booths if possible since they're more comfortable. As other reviews have referenced, this place has a good happy hour, and that's when my party of chose to dine. Mariachi has a good deal on their house margaritas (I don't remember exactly, but I think they were around the $7-$8 range) and you could definitely taste the Tequila in the ginormous glass the drink was served in. Was it top-shelf tequila like a Don Julio or Patron? Probably not, but the beverage was still refreshing on a typical hot Palm Springs evening. The food also had that hometown cooked from scratch flavor. This starts with the awesome complimentary chips and salsa. Can tell for sure that the chips are flash fried and made in-house which is a perfect vehicle for the chunky and semi-spicy salsa. My carne asada was prepared well. A large piece of marinated flank steak was seared over a hot grill to seal in the juices, and yet was still tender enough to slice with a butter knife. I also love that this place serves nopales (cactus leaves), which one typically doesn't see on menus outside of the Texas or California. If you haven't tried them, if prepared well nopales should have the flavor profile of bell peppers with slightly more texture. I had a great time slicing up my steak and making mini-tacos at the table with the accompaniment of rice, beans, veggies with the flour tortillas my dish was served with. The place is small and can get VERY busy with both dine-in and take-out service, so be prepared for slower service during peak hours. But as is usually the case with me, I always want to support local businesses. read more

Mariachis is a new favorite of mine when I am craving Mexican food. I only wish I had found this spot sooner. Great food and stellar service, if you haven't been yet you definitely need to add this spot to your list! Found this restaurant by accident as we had bad service elsewhere and made our way over to mariachis after seeing good reviews. We came for dinner and they were super busy, a good sign but a bummer as we had to wait. However, they allowed us to sit at the bar and were really nice in ensuring they kept the drinks flowing for us and worked hard to keep us in the loop about when a table would be available. We were hungry and a little grumpy from our less then stellar previous restaurant experience yet they did everything they could to seat us and get us going. After about 45 mins a table finally opened up for us and they had us seated and orders taken right away. Food was out in under 20 and for a big group you couldn't beat that kind of service. I just really appreciated how nice everyone was and quick to get our food out. The service alone had us impressed that I hoped the food would be as good. And it was! The food here is authentic, flavorful, and just super delicious. They have a huge menu here and I opted for something that I normally don't get, the bacon wrapped shrimp. Wow let me tell you this dish was fantastic! Others in my party also ordered this dish and raved about it. Even for simple rice and beans and everything was so flavorful and really delicious, just good down-home cooking with plenty of spice and attention to detail. this is my new favorite dish it'll be hard for me to try anything else when I come here because it was just that good. Also they have the best classic lime margaritas here, they are some of the best I have ever had anywhere! I don't know what it is but it is perfectly sweet and refreshing to drink that I downed two of them no problem. I didn't think a classic margarita could be so memorable but they make really good drinks here and have a big cocktail menu if you sit at the bar area so I'd say this place is great for happy hour drinks or a meal with family.
