The food is always delicious, and my go-to dishes are the Mar y Tierra and the Chiles Güeros both are full of flavor and never disappoint. The chavelas are also some of the best I've had. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which makes every visit even more enjoyable. If you're looking for great food, excellent service, and a wonderful dining experience, I highly recommend dining at El Campanario!

We came in for lunch after our meeting at work. We don't come out to Indio much so someone recommended this restaurant and we wanted to try them out. Wow! It was pretty empty but the service was amazing and the food was delicious! The restaurant has plenty of seating. The menu is overwhelming and they have everything you can think of. We all loved our food. They serve fresh chips and their salsa is absolutely delicious! I am sad that I live so far away, but I will definitely be stopping by here the next time I'm in Indio. If you're in the area, I highly recommend this place.

Super busy when we arrived in Father's Day 2025. We got sat right away thankfully a few crowds left right before us. Our party was only four so we got some booths before tables of 8+, they had a wait for the group tables to free up so makes sense to me. The food was good came out fast. I got to Mexico for Mexican food so definitely a noticeable difference yet hits all the same/similar notes. My only complaint was the plastic molcajete it was noticeable cold and odd to had I've never been severe a dish on one of those. Couldn't ask for it more got cause microplastics. I got the trio combo it was good for sure would order again. My family chose this spot and it worked out just fine especially with the huge groups of people waiting. Seems better for smaller groups but there is space for larger groups and the folks here were very helpful

My barber recommended El Campanario and I gave it a try as I am always looking for a good Mexican breakfast. I was impressed with the homemade corn tortillas which are very hard to find in the desert. My huevos Mexicana were very good and service was attentive.

My friend suggested we meet here for lunch, and I was greeted warmly and given a table near the door so I could be on lookout for my friend. I enjoyed chatting with the wait staff who checked on me to make sure I had chips, salsa and a drink before my friend arrived. The ambiance was comfortable with cozy, large booths and assorted Mexican decor, including some weird little surprises such as miniature Disney characters randomly placed up on a high shelf. My friend told me that he chose this restaurant because it is one of the top 2 best Mexican restaurants in Indio (and there are a LOT), and because they don't play music so loud that you have to shout to have a conversation. I ordered the crunchy shredded beef taco plate and it was just how I like them. I highly recommend El Campanario!

What a beautiful plate of birria!

On our cross country road trip we made it to Indio on day 1. We thought Mexican would be a safe bet for a late dinner since we're pretty close to the border! I was thrilled to see Birria on the menu, and it was authentic; no beef here, it was goat all the way! And it was super tasty! The consommé was a really nice touch! Even the tortillas maize were better than average. The girls ordered a fajita burrito, which was reported to be delicious; and tacos pescado, which I was told were really good! The service was great! The whole crew works together as a team to make sure everyone has what they need. And the place is super clean, nicely decorated, and well laid out. I won't hesitate to return next time I'm in town!

Once we got those though, things stayed flowing more quickly - We had a birthday in our group, and the team was so kind to bring out a birthday cheesecake and sparkler. Food and Drinks: - Enchiladas: served with either green or red sauce. FYI that the red sauce here is mole, and not regular red sauce. - Margarita: lots of flavors and can choose between frozen or on the rocks - Fish tacos: pretty big size and tasty - Soups: check out the last page of the menu for the soups. We picked a corner window table and were served immediately with cold water and the complimentary chips and salsas. The chips are fresh and dusted with a paprika/salt powder. The salsas are outstanding. One a bit spicier than the other but nearly impossible to choose a favorite. We ordered the chicken and steak fajita combination with black beans and rice with corn tortillas. The fajita arrives on a sizzling cast iron skillet with generous amounts of grilled onions and carmelized red peppers. We rounded our order out with their house guacamole. The guacamole, itself, could have used a bit more salt but the perfectly salted chips helped solve that. The margaritas are dangerously good. And the mix they use tastes fresh and house made. I loved that these were served with dehydrated lemon wheels and a sprig of thyme. Pablo took excellent care of us and we will 100% return.

I had the chicken enchiladas in a green sauce. Not a big portion and the sauce for me was very bitter. They do have a very spicy chili Macha that made it a little more flavorful. My husband had an enchilada and a shredded beef taco. Not a fan of the enchilada sauce, but the taco was very good. Would I come here again? Probably not but the service was excellent.

This location is part of a strip mall with plenty of parking out in the lot. There's a pretty massive patio and outside bar area with seating which wasn't utilize as it was majorly hot outside. They did have mister to believe. We of course sat inside. When we walked in, there was no one dining as the only other patron had just finished and walked out. That in-between lunch time. It was one of those things, do we stay or do we leave.... The waitress that was working that afternoon, Michelle was the sweetest. So welcoming and friendly which is alway a good sign. As it was our first time here, she gave us a thoughtful breakdown of everything. Good customer service if I do say so. Menu, if you want seafood, this is your place. They had specials that go on all day with a good list of about 8 or so items to choose from. Lunch specials were also offered and then you have the main menu. Alcohol was also on the list. There's also a big menu along the board if you were waiting in line to order. Everything is done at the counter and food will be brought out to you when ready. They also have a soda station for your helping and the condiments are set aside there too. Menu did have a good selections of items. But limited on their pastas, which probably a given as it's a seafood place. They only had linguine and clams. We went with an order of the 3 fish and chips from the all day menu. That came with thick cut seasoned fries which were delicious and Cole slaws. The all day specials come with two sides I believe. Also an order of the ceviche which was from the starter menu. Fish was quite tasty and lightly battered which was great. Tasty and flakey which the battered was great. Not overly covered where it basically defeated the purpose but this place was nice. Also tater sauce was also accompanied. The ceviche was decent and came with tortilla chips. Nice decent size cup with avocado chunks on top but it wasn't that juicy. Wasn't that much juice, maybe it was just scooped and drained when served. It was decent. Also an extra side of the fries which were great. Thick cut and seasoned. The service was great and our waitress Michelle working that afternoon was a major doll. The sweetest and friendliest and so welcoming. The restaurant is full service minus the ordering. You order at the counter but your food will be brought to your table. It did pick up during our meal but we also noticed that it was a major go to for takeout. Everything was fresh and didn't take long to come out. There's also the downtown location that we need to try out next.

She was polite and relatively quick with our order of nice cold beer in a frosted glass. A positive sign and the food arrived relatively quickly. Again we were the only patrons that we saw. The chili relleno was meh. Absolutely nothing special . Perfect match to the meh cheese enchilada. Beans were not our cup of tea. Much too blended. No texture or flavor at all. The taco salad with chili Colorado was equally as underwhelming. There was a decent amount of chili in my salad. Sadly it was horrible. Tasted old , dry and mushy.
