El Taco Asado is our "go-to" neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Located in a small strip mall closer to the Palm Springs airport than downtown, El Taco Asado offers a wide selection of standard fare Mexican food at relatively reasonable prices for Palm Springs. Their online menu states "At el Taco Asado you can find delicious, traditional & affordable Mexican Cuisine. From Menudo, Enchiladas, Tortas, Tacos, Shrimp Cocktail and many more traditional Plates" - and that pretty much sums it up. Everything we have ordered here - mostly for take-out - has been good, which is why we've retuned multiple times - we know we will be okay with whatever we order. My favorite is the Carne Asada ($18.95) which comes served with rice and beans, onions and a small salad. In the attached photos, you will see photos of two of our Carne Asada orders - both generous portions guaranteed not to leave you hungry - and both very good. At other times, one of us has ordered the Bistec Ranchero ($18.95) and the Carnitas ($16.95), among other entrees at various times. We've never been disappointed. Again, this is a neighborhood Mexican restaurant - it is not gourmet dining - but we find their offerings to be more authentic and fresher than the Mexican chain eateries we have tried in the area. One of us is Latin and as he says, he knows his rice and beans ;-) The restaurant has indoor dining and a small outdoor patio area adjoining the parking lot, as well as a full bar. They are open Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 9 pm - closed Mondays. Five stars for the food, the prices, the portion size and the service.

LooooooooK ! At this beautiful renovation !! !

It pains me to say this ... but my Huevos Rancheros was just not good.... So bland :-(((( What happened to the seasoning ? I tried salt and pepper ... it didn't enhance or change the flavor. Oh My ! Well.., maybe everything on the menu is not seasoned ? Maybe this restaurant is good for those who can't eat overly seasoned food ? I'd like to try it again but a different dish. The remodel and new decor is SO nice it would be a shame to never go back again

I have tried to give Taco Asado a chance, their enchiladas are delicious btw, but this review is solely for the chile relleno. I have ordered it twice, and the two times it has had a broken toothpick! I called both times to let them know but it seems like it is an issue. I do understand that there might be a rush when cooking, but they have to be careful and make sure no toothpicks are left behind for the safety of their customers. And I really am not the type to write anything negative on a small business, but it's happened twice. Hopefully it doesn't happen to anyone else :(

The service was friendly throughout--even the cooks said goodbye as we left, which was such a sweet touch. We ordered the Young Herb Salad, Butterflied Branzino, Ribeye Aguachile, and finished with the chocolate-espresso Panna Cotta. I especially appreciated that the branzino didn't have a single bone, making it so easy to enjoy. The ribeye was generously portioned and beautifully presented. After a quick Yelp search, we found this spot. Once we arrived, finding street parking was tricky but not impossible! We had a reservation and were seated almost immediately. Definitely get a reservation if you are planning to go here. They have indoor and outdoor patio seating. We decided to sit inside. Being a vegetarian, I'm always on the lookout for interesting innovative food items. They had a vegan tamale and a veggie enchilada, stuffed with interesting list of vegetables. I decided to give those a shot. The tamales came out relatively quickly. The presentation was 10/10. The flavor profile was amazing. It was interesting to see the choice of vegetables. Overall, I loved the dish. The enchiladas came out quickly too. Again, the presentation was 10/10. It also came with a side of rice. The rice was surprisingly flavorful and tasty. The enchiladas were stuffed with delicious vegetables. I did request the cheese on side. Overall, we loved both the dishes. To celebrate our anniversary, they brought out a coconut cream ice cream. It was delicious and topped with fresh berries ! I highly recommend checking out this restaurant , you won't be disappointed!

We honestly felt like we paid full size prices for kid size meals and left still hungry. We had another appointment immediately afterward, so we didn't have time to order anything else, which made it even more disappointing. We've been to the Azusa location, and the difference in portion sizes is surprising! The servings there are easily 2-3 times the amount. For what we paid in Palm Springs, we definitely expected more. The food itself was enjoyable, but the value and portion sizes really missed the mark for us.

It's part of a little strip mall with a few other business. The parking situation was a little confusing as we didn't know if you were allowed to park at any of the spots. Some were reserved while some didn't have anything assigned to them. Afterwards we did find out that you were allowed to park there. Street parking is also available if needed. The place is quite nice and literally down the street from the main downtown strip. Also around the corner for the casino. There's a massive patio seating but with the summer heat, no one was outside .Right when you walk in, there's a cute seating area before heading straight to the bar. Main bar as you walk in as well as second bar towards the back area. It's a full bar so whatever you like, it could be made. As we were here for an event, a meet and greet with everyone was perfect for this place. Drinks were rolling and people enjoying getting to know each other. A nice concept to make new friends in the area. Besides wine and cocktails, there's beer as well as food. I didn't get a chance to check the menu but food was supplied at the event. Flatbread were brought out as well as hummus and crudités. Let me say, the selections of flatbread that was served was great. So many different selections and flavors to go around. They were quite nice. The indoor area is an open concept with loads of tables and comfy couches places throughout like seating areas. We also found out that certain nights they offer karaoke. Plus happy hours happens nightly. The crowd for the event was great but being able to check out new places that Palm Springs has to offer was great. It's a place thats perfect for mingling with friends, popping in for a drink or just lounging with a nice glass of wine. Grab some food if you want as they have a good selection on the menu. When the weather allows it, it's perfect for an evening on the patio. This place is now a must for us as it was great. A fun place for a nice glass of wine or cocktails. Glad we finally tried it out. Also, the staff were all amazing and the sweetest. Highly recommend.
