Went here on our trip to Palm Springs. As we walked in I noticed how clean the restaurant was. They have a full bar so drinks was never and Issue. The service was great and older gentleman took our order. We had a a margarita to drink and a Molcajete for dinner. The margarita was very tasty and the Molcajete was an excellent dish with lots of yummy spices and flavors. If you've never had one you should definitely try it. It's a dish with chicken, steak, shrimp , sausage and veggies. Oh yeah and the burritos are yummy too. read more

My barber turned me onto this spot today and I am glad she did. Grabbed lunch to go and was very pleased. I got a carne asada burrito and my wife got the breakfast burrito with beans, cheese and papas. Both were delicious. The people who took our order were very friendly and the food came out fast. The restaurant and bar area are welcoming and very clean. They had a decent crowd for lunch. The prices are excellent, especially for Palm Springs. Will definitely be back. read more

This is the Crunchy Taco Spot!!! Love this place! We always place our order for 'Taco Night' here at El Taco Asada. They have the best crunchy Tacos. The carne asada, chicken and ground beef are all seasoned well. Usually the ground beef crunchy tacos are the hit of the party. We also love thier fresh made salsa and chips. Still remains or go-to for basic Mexican food in the area. The prices have increased a bit and the portions, while still good, are not as generous as I remember. Staff is attentive though they continually forget to bring limon verde with my Carnitas. Happens everytime, but they quickly bring it when I remind the waiter. Basic margaritas are fine. read more

El Taco Asado is our "go-to" neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Located in a small strip mall closer to the Palm Springs airport than downtown, El Taco Asado offers a wide selection of standard fare Mexican food at relatively reasonable prices for Palm Springs. Their online menu states "At el Taco Asado you can find delicious, traditional & affordable Mexican Cuisine. From Menudo, Enchiladas, Tortas, Tacos, Shrimp Cocktail and many more traditional Plates" - and that pretty much sums it up. Everything we have ordered here - mostly for take-out - has been good, which is why we've retuned multiple times - we know we will be okay with whatever we order. My favorite is the Carne Asada ($18.95) which comes served with rice and beans, onions and a small salad. In the attached photos, you will see photos of two of our Carne Asada orders - both generous portions guaranteed not to leave you hungry - and both very good. At other times, one of us has ordered the Bistec Ranchero ($18.95) and the Carnitas ($16.95), among other entrees at various times. We've never been disappointed. Again, this is a neighborhood Mexican restaurant - it is not gourmet dining - but we find their offerings to be more authentic and fresher than the Mexican chain eateries we have tried in the area. One of us is Latin and as he says, he knows his rice and beans ;-) The restaurant has indoor dining and a small outdoor patio area adjoining the parking lot, as well as a full bar. What the heck is going on with this place. We have eaten here for years and has always been fresh and good, but today, yikes, everything was horrible. Tasted old and stale. It pains me to say this ... but my Huevos Rancheros was just not good.... So bland :-(((( What happened to the seasoning ? I tried salt and pepper ... it didn't enhance or change the flavor. Oh My ! I love the food and people at this restaurant. The fajitas and burritos are my favorite. And everyone is very nice.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. And even when they raised their prices and made their portion sizes smaller, I stayed. Even when their al pastor began to be more onion than meat, I stayed. However now feeding ICE agents while they are actively hurting the community is where I cross the line. Cons: Their waiters and waitress must all be on part-time. I gotten several waiters and waitresses within each visit. Four times now. My last visit on Nov. 1st was the worst by one waitress. She was immediately rude. Why? My friend felt targeted bc she is Black. Then to question her order bc it was a la carte. But it was just her. I requested the Green salsa along with the Red which comes with the chips. They gave me both on my first visit. She replied, "I'll bring you the green Chile when your food comes with a demanding tone. When our food was delivered by a different waiter, there was no green Chile included. I also ordered a la cart of two tacos. One was filled with lettuce and cheese, while the other one did not. We waited but had to flag another waiter and ask for it again. I have tried to give Taco Asado a chance, their enchiladas are delicious btw, but this review is solely for the chile relleno. I have ordered it twice, and the two times it has had a broken toothpick! I called both times to let them know but it seems like it is an issue. I do understand that there might be a rush when cooking, but they have to be careful and make sure no toothpicks are left behind for the safety of their customers. And I really am not the type to write anything negative on a small business, but it's happened twice. Hopefully it doesn't happen to anyone else :( read more

Ordered "steak" taco combo... The meat was gristle and fat so gross couldn't chew it. The other items were just OK-- run of the mill rice and beans. Tomatoes were not ripe. It was really busy so people seem to like it. Outdoor seating and dog friendly. Good service. read more

I order a beef burrito and a been and cheese burrito for $22 bucks. I got home and notice that the bean and cheese burritio was mostly tortilla and dab of beans and cheese. I called them and told them I was returning so they can fix the issue . Like most business they would remake the order to keep a customer happy. I was not willing to dine at any of the Palm Springs touristy Mexican restaurants. We've done that. This time, we found El Taco Asado, a restaurant that is further away from the downtown hustle, and they have been around a long time. You immediately sense that the food is going to be authentic. Yes, there were plenty of people inside, and they appeared to enjoy the food. Lots of pick-up and delivery business. The lovely missus decides to order a la cart. Chili Relleno and a side of rice. She says the rice was outstanding and only a stem of the chili relleno was left on the plate. My Chili Verde plate was stellar. 5 corn tortillas to use with the rice and beans and spoonfuls of the pork. The Horchata is a perfect ice-cold sweet drink. The service was friendly and prompt. I also ordered a frijole con queso burrito to take for later. The place was quaint, and a bar on one side made huge margaritas. The layout and decor were simple, and it worked. The food is delicious and is not greasy like you would usually find at a Mexican restaurant. Everything is fresh and extremely addictive! We love going to this restaurant because of great food and service. The only thing I am not a big fan is to much lighting . I feel like I am on the stage. We sat against the wall that separates this restaurant from Ruben and Ozzy's. Three hanging baskets on the wall contained three dead plants. Very unappealing. First they've done over the place and have at least 14 brand new booths and a bar with seating. It looks great and each booth comfortably seats four adults. We opened up with a couple of margaritas, always good. Chips and salsa provided which was tasty. For meals we got the combo fajitas which came with steak, chicken and shrimp ($20). Shrimp was good, hicken ok but steak was tough and could have been tenderized. Portions were large though. Next time I will select a burrito The waiter was very responsive and accommodating. Awesome food for the price. We arrived at Felipe's on the other side of the parking lot only to find a huge amount of people waiting for a table so we decided to hit El Taco Asado instead. We were seated as soon as we walked in, our orders were taken in a timely manner and delicious food was served quick and hot. The chile rellenos are delicious.
