We did make a reservation, although the space was surprisingly empty at 7pm. We do know we came as the season is winding down, but for how good this food is, this place should always be packed. Our waitress was delightful - attentive, helped to explain every dish and the dishes all came out quickly but nothing felt rushed. The vibe is very jungle chic with open air seating, slightly covered by large leaf structures. Lots of candles and mood lighting. The menu offered quite the diverse selection of food options with a focus on traditional but elevated Mexican flavors. We started with some signature cocktails - my husband the mustachio whiskey drink and I had the wildfire. Both were perfectly mixed with great flavors. I will note the wildfire was more tart than spiced and did come with a fun flame element (sadly no pic). Also of note, the passionfruit that is used in this drink is a local fruit that is far more tart than other passionfruit you may have experienced. If you like a tart refreshing drink, this is your pick. We shared many dishes - the first was the pork rind with street corn dip. WOW. The pork rind seasoning was absolutely delicious and the serving size of street corn was epic. So rich, so delicious. We also shared the fried avocado - truly, the local avocados are heaven sent and the pumpkin seed purée was perfectly developed and spiced. Next up, larger dishes included the corn ravioli - this was so rich, and swimming in delicious truffle flavor. The raviolis were huge and there were 6 of them. The foam and nest elements while very pretty were also equally delicious. Not something that I often say when it comes to foam on plates. Finally, we had the shrimp main - I cannot put into words how amazing this dish was. The sauce was spicy, garlicky, and clearly developed over many hours. You could taste the time put into this. The shrimp were so tender the heads and tails just fell off. It comes with a side of bread and you will want to soak up every drop of this sauce with the toasted bread. If you are looking for elevated local flavors that have been carefully and meticulously curated then you must have a meal at WILD.

To make matters worse, the prices on the menu are quite high. The food quality doesn't match the prices at all. Even the drinks, including soft drinks, are overpriced. For example, when I ordered a mocktail, they brought me a glass that was half-filled with ice; and the drink cost 300 Mexican pesos (U.S. $16). Crazy! Another negative point is the extremely loud music on the main second floor. It's impossible to have a conversation if you sit in the middle of that level. However, if you go to the separate area across the little bridge, the music is a bit quieter, but still louder than it should be for a relaxing dinner. The first time I visited, I got a table on the uppermost level, and the noise level was much better up there. I definitely preferred that upper area. On a positive note, I want to mention the sweet staff - the hostess and waiters were always extremely nice to me. But both times I visited, the waiters didn't check on us much during the meal. Also, if the restaurant is busy, food preparation can be very slow; we waited more than 40 minutes for our order. To sum up: I do recommend visiting this place, but more as a visual and artistic experience, not for the food. Go for the atmosphere, enjoy a drink and a tasty appetizer like the fish and chips or crab croquette, but plan to have your main meal elsewhere if you're looking for truly delicious food.

Extremely disappointing experience with Catering Tulum…read more We booked and prepaid for a private dinner and breakfast during our trip to Tulum. Approximately one hour before our scheduled dinner, Luis cancelled due to a personal emergency. I was initially very understanding of the circumstances. He offered either a replacement chef/rescheduling or a full refund. When the alternative arrangements did not happen, I requested the refund. Luis told me in writing that he would process my refund on Monday. Monday came and went with no refund and no update. I contacted him Tuesday morning and received no response for the entire day, despite the business remaining active on social media. By Wednesday, I still had neither my money nor an update. After repeatedly trying to contact him, Luis finally responded and acknowledged again that he owed me the refund, but attempted to move the refund date to Sunday, explaining that he did not currently have the funds available. I did not agree to that extension. What concerns me most is not simply that the original service had to be cancelled. Emergencies happen. It is the way the situation was handled afterward. I should not have to repeatedly chase a business for money paid for services that the business itself cancelled and never provided. If a refund cannot be processed when promised, at minimum the customer deserves proactive communication rather than being ignored. I have retained the booking information, proof of payment, cancellation messages, refund promises and subsequent correspondence documenting this experience. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering prepaying this business to understand the refund process beforehand and keep complete documentation of all payments and communications.
