If you are looking to become an LVN, this is the right school. Marian College will guide you and will support you starting from day one up to the time you have to to take your NCLEX. Teachers and faculty members are very approachable and easy to talk to. I learned a lot from this school and will take it with me on my nursing career. Thank you so much Marian College.

The school has all the knowledge required to become successful in the field, and the staff does an amazing job instilling that knowledge into students. The best part about the school is Simone, the program director. She is the absolute hardest worker I know, while also being the one who cares the most for the students. As a student, even if you do not have many interactions with her, she still knows who you are and she works hard for you, especially in the background where all the work that she does is even more thankless. I do not understand how she can accomplish everything that she does, but my only explanation is that she must have more than the 24 hours in a day that the rest of us have.

I wish there was negative stars to give My experience with the X-ray program at Casa Loma College…read moreNashville was disappointing and, at times, unprofessional. The environment often felt more like a high school than a professional healthcare education program. Favoritism appeared to play a significant role in how students were treated. Behavior that was overlooked for some students resulted in disciplinary action for others. I observed instructors and staff engaging in conduct that I felt was inappropriate for an educational setting, including discussing students, allowing nicknames that could be viewed as unprofessional, and tolerating behavior that created a negative learning environment. When concerns about misconduct were raised, I did not see meaningful action taken. Academically, I felt the instruction was lacking. Much of the teaching consisted of reading directly from textbooks or slideshows with limited explanation or hands-on guidance. Given the relatively small teacher-to-student ratio, it was concerning to see such a low percentage of students successfully pass certain courses. I also witnessed accommodations and grading adjustments that appeared inconsistent among students. The learning environment was frequently disrupted by unrelated conversations during labs and quizzes. Lab sessions often lacked structure, and equipment or procedures did not always function as expected. Rather than fostering student success, the atmosphere often felt discouraging and unsupportive. For a program that requires a significant financial investment, I expected a higher level of professionalism, accountability, and educational quality. Unfortunately, my experience did not provide the preparation or support I believe students deserve when pursuing a career in radiologic technology.

For the longest time, nursing school lived in the same category as "I'll get to it eventually."…read moreEventually turned into 6-7 years of postponing, doubting myself, and wondering if I was really cut out for it. Ironically, what finally pushed me to take the leap was watching a coworker graduate from West Coast University. Did she vent about the program being stressful? Absolutely. Did she ever have a bad thing to say about the professors or staff? Not once. That spoke volumes. Nursing school isn't supposed to be easy. Caring for people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives isn't easy, so why should the preparation be? Hearing about the challenges didn't discourage me, it reassured me that the program was doing exactly what it was meant to do. So, after attending an information session for the second time in two years, I finally decided to stop flirting with the idea of nursing school and commit. What stood out to me immediately was the transparency! From day one, everything was laid out clearly: what was required for admission, what resources were available, and what steps needed to be taken to succeed. There were no surprises, no sugarcoating, just straightforward guidance and support. Then began the adventure of getting all my "stuff" together. I would be remiss if I didn't give a special shout-out to David Gallardo, who is low-key one of the biggest reasons my application was completed at all. During the application process, I was navigating some personal challenges while helping care for my mother. Throughout it all, David remained patient, encouraging, and consistently supportive. More importantly, he always started our conversations by asking how I was doing, not just where I was in the application process. That may seem like a small thing, but it meant a lot. His kindness and reassurance gave me confidence when mine was running low. If first impressions truly matter, David was the perfect first impression of West Coast University. Now, as I prepare to begin this journey, I won't pretend I'm not nervous. I have moments where I wonder whether I have what it takes. But I also know that West Coast University has already shown me that support, resources, and dedicated advisors are available every step of the way. At that point, the responsibility shifts to me to use those resources and keep moving forward. So here I am, equal parts anxious and determined, looking forward to the long study sessions, sleepless nights, and study-group marathons. Two years from now, I plan to walk across that stage knowing that earning my degree wasn't easy, but it was worth it. And when that day comes, I'll happily become an unofficial ambassador for West Coast University, completely pro bono lol. If I can help encourage even one person who has been sitting on the fence the way I did for 6-7 years, wondering whether they're capable or whether the timing is ever going to be right, then I'll gladly share my experience. Sometimes all it takes is seeing someone else take the leap to realize you can do it too. For now, though, it's time to get to work. See y'all in two years! GM.

She consistently pointed me in the right direction and made sure I had the information I needed to make informed decisions. In all honesty she is one of the main reasons I chose West Coast University. The positive experience I had working with her left a lasting impression and I am incredibly grateful for everything she did to help me begin this journey.

I completed the IV Therapy & Blood Withdrawal Certification course at Los Angeles Career College,…read moreand I have to say--this place runs smoother than most hospital floors I've worked on. The staff was organized, check-in was easy, and the hybrid format made the whole process painless (unlike some IV attempts I've witnessed in real life). What really impressed me was how efficient everything was. Once I passed my exam, they handed me my certificate the same day--no waiting, no chasing emails, no mysterious "processing time." Just boom. Certified. I wish everything in healthcare worked that fast. Now for the real highlight: Instructor Steele Erickson. Steele is the kind of nursing instructor you secretly hope for but never expect to get. He breaks down IV therapy and blood withdrawal with such clarity and patience that even tricky techniques suddenly feel manageable. He teaches with a calm, supportive energy that makes everyone relax. He's incredibly knowledgeable, genuinely invested in every student, and somehow keeps the class both educational and entertaining. As someone with 25+ years in healthcare, I can confidently say instructors like Steele do not grow on trees. If you're considering getting your IV Certification, go to Los Angeles Career College and hope you get Steele Erickson as your instructor. You'll walk away confident, competent, and wondering why every nursing class can't be this smooth. Highly recommended!

Life got in the way a couple of times during this portion of the class and I was able to talk to Mika and figure out a plan so that I wouldn't have to miss class. I also loved listening to her real life stories of working in nursing. The course I took was 5 weeks, 8 hours a day. The first two weeks were online. There is a lot of reading, a lot of quizzes, and several tests, but you get the hang of it quickly. The second week was practical where you learned the skills. I got pretty frustrated when I didn't get the skill right the first time, but the fact is that there are a lot of steps to the skills and these are brand new things that I'm learning. It all falls into place when you go into the clinical. You get to apply what you learned in class and in your practical learning. I especially loved my clinical rotations at the hospital. It gave me such a bigger perspective on the healthcare industry and patient care. I learned so much and discovered that I really liked working in ER. I look forward to applying everything I learned in my future career.

We barely got a syllabus for term two before she went out on medical leave. My clinical instructors Mr. Dexter, Mr. Nino, Ms. Val and Ms. Donna was wonderful always helping us and making sure we understood our skills. If you needed to speak with any one in the office Ms. Tameeka, Ms. Ethel, and Mr. Noel was always accommodating and will resolve your issues as soon as possible. When it comes to talking with Dr. Arvella , honey be prepared to have thick skin because she come off very abrasive, rude, condescending and didn't care what you are going through. Yes I didn't make it pass term two however speaking with her about trying to reapply back into the program she said that she will have to feel it's in her best interest for her to allow me back into the program and not wasting her time. How the curriculum is set up. I don't care how long you study when it comes to the HESI specially dosage calculations no one really taught us the formulas and which formulas to use for different dosage. On top of that they only gave us a week in between to study for the next HESI with 12 additional assignments that is due that same week. Yes this is an accelerated program but you not giving your students the proper information to succeed. Arvella doesn't care about issue that arise in the classroom or how we feel like we are not learning from our theory instructor. She will tell you that she has personal hand picked her instructors. She hand picked them alright the new clinical instructor Mr. Muhammad kept making sexual comments towards the class when we were doing injections on an hot dog. Saying and I quote "don't put it in your mouths" and laughing about it. Where you have other instructor Mr. Victor getting dropped off by a student. Mind you when you sign up for the program you sign a contract stating no fraternizing with instructors while in school. So I impale Dr. Arvella to ask Mr. Victor about the student who drive the pink Mercedes G wagon who he has been seen having a disagreement with during clinicals. I will not be reapplying to this school and I'm not going to allow someone to dictate when I can come back and be force to retake term one to prove that I'm worthy of her time. But it is okay for a student to be out on medical for 3 weeks and have to option to go back to the term she didn't complete before her medical leave or start the next term. Dr. Arvella plays favoritism with students. Please deeply think about signing up for this college and this location. This school needs to be audit by the board of education.

So I dressed accordingly. How wrong was I.... Tasha Smith (professional actor and teacher) conducted a Master Class Scene Study, and let the public (Yelp) in to sit in the back rows to watch her conduct coaching sessions. She was quite insightful as Tasha offered valuable feedback that could easily be applied to your (my) own acting work. The evening started with a motivational talk. Then, Tasha's close friend, Brandy (actress and singer) joined in on the conversation. There were plenty scenes to go through.... Still, during and/or after every scene, Tasha critiqued and coached performances into betterment. Tasha produced immediate results from her students. I found her to be lively with methods, experience and stories. When the night was coming to an end, her producer friend showed up with a Martial Arts Grandmaster to Bruce Lee (r.i.p). The Grandmaster gave the workshop a lesson in martial arts and meditation with his son. I smiled at everyone, and talked to Tasha. She was so down to earth and knowledgable about acting. It was totally inspiring.... I am sooo ready for the feature film arena. I love Acting!
