I always enjoy Club M / Mariano's bar. Having the ability to drive down the street, eat great food and have a couple of drinks... #priceless

Went to this Mariano's on July 4th...my expectations for Mariano's is very high! I frequently go to the one in Evergreen Park, on 111th and Cicero Ave, Clyborn at New City AND Clark St. ... I absolutely LOVE these locations! However after visiting the King Drive location I was SO disappointed ! It doesn't compare to the prior mentioned locations. Wasn't clean, staff uniforms were obviously worn out.. it just didn't have that professional feel like he others...DEFINITELY IN NEED OF A RE-VAMP AND OR NEW GENERAL MANAGER TO ENSURE HIGH STANDARDS LIKE THE OTHERS! read more

Other locations that I've been to don't have the same difficulties with the food prep cooking. For me t h e vest of the M experience is the short wait at the bar while ny families meal is cooked. Lately the estimated wait time has been an hour; i never stay & leave my choice of meat because this is why I patronize the stoe. read more

I will not shop at this Mariano's. The customer service desk employee Andrea is rude and unprofessional. Manager Reginald is condescending. Just because this Mariano's is location black community, we desire better customer service. read more

I recently bought a sheet cake for my grandson's birthday from the bakery at Mariano's in Brownsville. I remember not too long ago Mariano's was the place to go for prepared cakes. This was the worst cake I have ever had in my life. The cake was dry and tasteless and the "Chicago Buttercream Frosting' had the consistency of shortening and had a nasty taste. The kids did not eat the cat and I ended up throwing most of it away. I don't know how Kroger let Mariano's go from best party cakes to worst. I will never buy another item from the bakery and warn you to do the same. Believe it or not Jewel's nondescript cakes are better than Mariano's. read more

since Kroger owns the stores prices have been raised, service cut ,evident by the long, long checkout lines and the number of out of stock is high. No Arizona ice tea. little Debbie snacks or Roundy's orange juice for 3 weeks. Ice cream will be melted by the time you get home after waiting to be checked out. Service has gone down as prices have gone up. Sad as it was the best store on the south side when opened. read more

Bakery !!!! Don't know where to start except to say that my son didn't have a birthday cake or Spider-Man cupcakes because of the incompetence of the staff. I called three times prior to picking my cake up and each time confirming something different. So, to my surprise I arrive to pick up the cakes and they are NOT READY. After being told "I can just give you your money back and you won't get no cake" and "what do you want me to" and my favorite "give me 30 minutes." Lucky for them I was in a hurry and reluctantly took some blue cupcakes which cost LESS than what I paid for my cupcakes and cake. I haven't made my way back up there to see Mr Azmi. So, my advice - go to BrownSugar or my favorite Sweet Mandy B's....or wherever - just not here. read more

Same as everyone else. Lazy employees who dont give a crap. One day I went there and there was a huge puddle of water near the express cooler. And instead of mopping it up there were papertowels strewn all over the puddles of water, which is a huge fire hazard since it was plugged in. Then another time I went to buy some Parmeggiano Reggiano the original, best, and expensive cheese from Italy. The cheese wheel was riddled with mould they couldn't even be stuffed cutting the mould away or checking the shelved products for mould. Not only is this a huge waist of money but I am sure it is also a health violation. Absolutely disgusting. The attitude here is who gives a flying f#$k!!! Initially when it first opened everyone in there including the employees were excited and happy to no longer having Bronzeville be a food desert. And although it is extremely imperative that Bronzeville raises itself upward and into the future the people who work here do not see their attitudes as a viable investment into the neighborhood and even though they know Bronzeville desperately needs this who cares right? Give it another year and I predict it will be one of the worst Marianos in Chicago. read more

I love this Mariano's. I moved to Bronzeville from the South Loop late last year and this Mariano's is just down the street from me. Everyone who works there is very professional and helpful. On Fridays, they have great live music and the bar area is usually pretty happening especially for a Friday night. The produce is the same quality as the Mariano's in the South Loop. My only complaint is the hot bar food is not very good unless it's fried foods. Everything else is just not got to me. read more

Thought I would visit this location since it recently just opened. I can say it's big and thankfully still has a feeling of being new, but the staff was a real turn off. No one looked up from the floor as I walked by. No one offered help when I was aimlessly looking for something. The one person who did say hi over did it. I thought he was going to have a heart attack. If Mariano's wants to attract customers from nearby neighborhoods, they are going to have offer some better training to their staff. read more

A great new store and location with a big parking lot and plenty of street parking at the northeast corner of Pershing Rd (39th St) and MLK Drive. This place is huge and has a great prepared foods-bakery-deli area with a wine bar at one end and an oyster bar at the other. Great prices and sale items - esp. during grand opening week. Was a bit crowded in some sections even on a Tuesday afternoon - probably also due to grand opening week. But LOTS of checkout lanes so no wait at all there. I look forward to continued low prices and sale items and hope it continues to be a popular, well run location. read more

Why is this branch, the one directly servicing a primarily Black area, the worst I've seen in metropolitan Chicago? Bronzeville scores with this store. An upscale grocer was needed since shoppers were taking their money to Hyde Park and South Loop vendors. And, since the neighborhood demographics shifted over the last decade to a more affluent, health conscious and maybe even worldly cohort began buying the $1m King Drive restorations and tony condos. I've visited the store all of about 10 times and these are some of my observations: some stock is inconsistent with other Mariano stores; generally, store staff lack the same cheer and sense of imperative as is common at other locations; staff dress is typically disheveled, rumpled and unironed; young cashiers do not typically greet customers with a FRIENDLY "Hello" that includes making eye contact and making both the voice AND face smile. Overall, the Bronzeville Mariano's is another illustration of how standards can change based on assumptions of who lives where and their expectations when, in fact, everyone should get the same standards in EVERY location as they reflect the company's brand. If circumstance allow, I say skip this one and go a few blocks north to the Mariano's in the South Loop. Much more pleasant experience. read more

I use to work at this Mariano and my name is Michelle W. My experience working there was not pleasant and often times lead to a horrific day with my body aching all over. First thing is that it is a very high turnover over at this location because workers are overworked and underpaid with no benefits and a few hours to work per week. Because of this it has lead to exhaustion and poor service towards the customers. While working there myself I got along pretty much with everyone but witness firsthand how customers were treated and poor service being delivered. I'm glad I'm not there anymore and apologize to all the customers who experience poor service. These young people in the store needs to be removed and it need to be a more professional setting rather than playing and giggling all day while other workers are sweating working hard. It not fair. None the less God saw my heartache in dealing with rude workers and bless me with a better job. read more

I am pleased with the location and the management of service and services workers. Reggie, I believe management and Angela and more of the people who works in the soup department, can't remember all the names just yet, have been very friendly in service care. I like it when the service helpers and management even if they are there to just to have a meeting, speaking to the customers makes the customer feels wanted to be in the store. This Mariano's is big and roomy and serves as a social place to be I noticed lately. My mother is 85 years young who uses a wheel chair, loves shopping here. Although there is one on 16th street south loop area, and she lives on 12th street, I have to bring her here. There is something about seeing all the fresh vegetables up front brings an enjoyable smile on her face. It reminds her of harvest time I have to agree about this as well. For me the ready made cooked foods are delicious such as the soups. They have to at least probably refill all day. I go around 10:00am and find that people, I think, get their soup before going to work. I don't worry because like I say, you can always ask them to bring out more. You can't go wrong with any of their cooked foods if you don't feel like cooking. I particular like their fresh seafood, bakery goods, smoothies and more. Although I have not tried the grill while you wait, I am quite sure the grillers are doing an excellent job for there are so many people at times waiting for the service and it smells so good. read more

Outstanding. Very simple. Everyone and I mean everyone go out of their way to make sure your visit to Marianos is enjoyable. They are employees that really seem to like their jobs and will go out of their way to assist in any matter. Their store director Steven is top notch in management. It's a place that you enjoy spending your money. Also let me mention their pharmacy department. Very little waiting and again outstanding service. Love my Marianos on 39th and King Drive.
