    Strawberry multi-layer cake
    gale l.

As a surprise, someone got us a strawberry cake from this shop, we had never tried it before. The cake was very pretty with fresh strawberry and edible gold leaf accents. I would say I enjoyed the cake.. The cake was almost too wet on the inside, which I interpreted as being very fresh! But the cake was much more enjoyable the next day or so, when some moisture had evaporated. The sponge was very light. The strawberry flavor was very strong and seemed to be a combination of fresh starwberries and other flavors. I think the frosting was buttercream but I couldn't be sure what the filling was. Overall it was a light, nice cake.

Delicious!! Don't know what I got but the first one is like a tiramisu but without the coffee flavor and all the Carmel flavor.... The other one with a darker chocolate crust is sweetened almost like a honey glaze, reminded me somewhat of a tres leches cake where the sponge cake is drowned in liquid.

Great place! Especially if you are from Romania/Rep.of Moldova! A lot of traditional products! Friendly staff. Lots of Romanian cuisine. (Stuffed cabbage, traditional soups, cakes, etc) They have from Romanian dish to Deserts (Amandina, Savarina, Dobos, Alba ca Zapada, etc), snacks (ViVa, Olla Rolls, Natty, Ulker, etc), can food (pate, zacusca, etc) etc. I always stop by when I have the chance and buy a lot of stuff. Totally recommend them!

Maria's bakery has traditional Romanian pastries and recipies. They make everything from scratch with quality ingredients so everything they bake is tastefull. If you can't travel to Romania you can taste genuine romanian food and pastries here. The traditional Cozonac (walnut roll) is always fresh and is a favorite around Christmas.

Absolutely delicious! Everything tastes better when fresh with a boost of passionate service. Traditional Romanian desserts and beef-tripe soup (ciorbā de burtā).

    Garily, $3! Best $3 I ever spent.

Their bakery items are always mouthwatering and my favorite are the multiple layer of chocolate cake called "dobos" and custard cake called "cremes".

The food comes out and you're realizing you've made the right decision. Admittedly, a lot of the business is takeout and delivery (which I've also done, and is also delicious) but if you aren't afraid of a pared down dining room, you can often have it to yourself while enjoying some amazing food.

We were parked, but we went in to try it and we were not disappointed with the dishes. Here's my review of the dishes: I loved the lentil soup, and we got warm bread to go with it; the bread was delicious. The falafel appetizers were yummy. The chicken kebab was great. I took half home because it was a lot for me. My hubby had the shawarma sandwich, but I don't have a photo because he ate it right away. He said something about the onions that made it taste so good with that bread. We also bought more bread to bring home. We will go back soon. Our waitress was very polite. The only thing I didn't like was the Tabbouleh salad. It was too soggy with the vinegar they add, I think. I like it more dry. I will add a few photos of the food items.

In a world where most spots are jacking up prices while lowering quality, this place is sticking to the New York gold standard. The line is a total marathon. You're going to wait, and it's going to be a while--but that's the tax you pay for food that actually has a soul. Don't let the deli line distract you. It's white noise. Stay focused on the bagels, the bialys, and the accoutrements. The breakfast sandwich is, hands down, the best in town. Period. It's simple, inexpensive, and lacks any of that "cheap filler" logic you see at other breakfast joints. It's just a masterclass in doing the basics with real care.
