Apple strudel, plum cake, and a fresh chocolate donut

I came her to catch up with an old friend over pastries and coffee. It is such a charming and clean bakery full of European goodies. I tried the apple strudel which was fresh and packed with apples. I also tried the plum cake which was also very tasty. Customer service was top notch! I am looking forward to coming back to try more of their baked goods.

Great bakery for donuts and coffee cake. The birthday cakes never disappoint!!! Incredible decorating and on this cake that I picked up for my wife's birthday!!

Love that this place opens early. Great for last minute birthday cakes. I came here early before work to grab a cake for my colleague's birthday since nothing else was opened that early. Other than cakes they also have donuts, cookies and pastries. As you walk in you can smell the sweetness. I got a chocolate cheesecake which tasted amazing. And if you want to have them write "happy birthday" tag on the cake it would cost $3. Overall I would come back again to try the pastries and cookies because it all looked so yummy!

I love this place. I first found out about it through a friend who brought me donuts from here and they were to absolutely die for. I loved loved love them so much- they weren't dry, they were moist and they had the most amazing taste. Dunkin' Donuts across the street from them is no match!! Be aware that quality comes with a price so of course they're a little more expensive than Dunkin but believe me, you'll think twice about have Dunkin' Donuts after eating these delicious donuts!! Let me tell you how much I love the quality and service of Schegls that I drive from Skokie to Lincolnwood just for their products even though Kaufman is down the street from me. To each their own but Kaufman is really expensive in comparison to Schegls and the quality is not there. My sister in law once bought the apple pecan danish and that bad boy was gone within a day in our household just because it was THAT good. It flaky, there was a good amount of apple and then the pecan along with sugar coating was the topping on the cake. I mean- I absolutely devoured it. Since then, I regularly stop in to get their apple pecan danish (even though they have a lot of other danish choices) but the apple pecan goes out really quickly so you have to make sure to claim it quick. The only downside to this place is the parking- it's so limited but on the weekends there is usually a line of people waiting to get baked goods from here. I love this place because it's a family owned small business- I love small mom and pop shops!! I highly recommend you come check this place out- you won't regret it!

They have the best chocolate covered donuts in Chicagoland. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.

I was shocked to see how empty the cafe was, especially on a hot day. The quality of the bingsoo was great and really hit the spot! We ordered the injeolmi and strawberry flavors and both were very tasty! I would recommend this cafe for those looking for authentic Korean shaved ice around Chicago.

The ice could've been finer (I had to chew on…read moresome larger shards of ice which wasn't pleasant), but otherwise we enjoyed it, and I was very happy to see that it had all the makings of an old school patbingsoo with both fruit and red bean, as well as mochi and ice cream, which is rare nowadays. It was pricey but enough for 2 people to share. Metered parking on a weekend evening was easy. My only complaint is that it had a strange, unpleasant smell inside (we were there in the evening during the weekend of April 25th). Also, when I came a few years ago, it had a really cozy, welcoming vibe packed with comfy couches. Now, it just looks like basic tables and plastic chairs, lacking comfort, character, and charm. I'm hoping to return to try the sweet potato latte and the other shaved ices, but I hope they do something about the smell and make the space feel more cozy and inviting.

It's also not good looking inside, so it's not the typical coffee shop to stay at a long time. Cafe Utjeha has been around quite a while yet many people don't know about it. Has pretty good products as far as coffee at affordable prices. The service was friendly at least from the barista, while the men are kind of just there it seems. A reason why many haven't known about this place is because of where it actually is. It's easy to miss it because there's not much going on. This is north of Lincoln Square, where there's a lot more hip stuff. Clean interior, at least as far as you can see because it's dimly lit. It's not that welcoming compared to a typical coffee shop. At least the female barista was friendly. The men who worked there didn't interact. As far as the coffee, it's good. It's about $3 for most things. Has some non dairy milks. There's some pastries like this flaky thing kind of like baklava, or you can get something healthier like an orange. Basic stuff in this small cafe. It's kind of like being in Turkey or some Eastern European type of place with music. There wasn't that much of a smoke smell as there had been previously.

The only reason I do is because my sister likes this place, but every single time they mess up my order, and my orders are as simple as they come. * First visit: I ordered two scoops in a cup (one pistachio and one coconut). I received two scoops of pistachio. * Second visit: I ordered the exact same thing. This time I received two scoops of coconut. * Third visit: I ordered elotes with all the toppings, but they forgot the mayo. * Fourth visit (today): I ordered a mixed soft serve in a cone cup, but I was charged for two soft serves instead. To make matters worse, the employees barely spoke English, making it extremely difficult to resolve the issue. When I asked why my total was about $9 when the sign clearly listed the soft serve at around $3, both employees looked confused. I actually had to ask another customer in line to translate. She explained that one of the employees accidentally charged me twice and said they would refund one of the charges and that I should wait for my receipt. I waited, got my receipt, and it only showed that I had been charged twice, there was no refund. Not once did anyone apologize for the mistake or the inconvenience. Now I have to dispute a $3 charge with my bank because of their error. It's not even about the $3. It's the principle and the inconvenience. Every single visit has had some kind of error, and after giving this location four chances, I can honestly say I do not recommend this location at all. Consistently incorrect orders, billing mistakes, poor communication, and not even a simple apology have made every visit frustrating.
