    Sweets

12/10 I had no idea what to expect but let's just say that the chocolate baclava sent me to my higher power directly.

The most delectable sweets my tongue has had the privilege of tasting in my 19 years of youth. When my friend's mother visits Chicago, she goes to Al Sham before even seeing her daughter. And I can see why. It invokes an earthly desire that competes even with the human spirit's strongest bonds. If I had a child, I would love them with all my heart and would never entertain the idea of them being depraved of life through dessert. When he rang me up, the owner asked me to leave a positive review. To that I say: Mr. Al Sham, your word is my command. You ask me to jump, and I'll ask you how high.

The BEST Middle Eastern sweets in Chicago. Everything is perfectly made from scratch. Highly recommend stopping by and trying anything. My favorite is the halawat el jebn, but the baklava and knafeh are also excellent!

Absolutely delicious! We tried a good variety of house baked sweets for a reasonable price (we filled a medium tray for around $25 and there were six of us, so about $4 per person). The flavors were excellent, very fresh tasting. Will be back!

    DELICIOUS baklava

this was an absolutely breathtaking experience, the first bite i had of the pistachio baklava sent me into euphoria, an awakening of my spiritual side that i never knew i had. it was a revelation that out-shadowed those of Buddha himself. The pastry is soft and flaky, and the nuts have a nice earthy flavor to add to the sweet, sweet flavor of the dessert. It's a perfect concoction, built from the ground up by the number 1 ghee and nuts imported straight from the motherlands of Syria and Turkey. The flavor is richer than any of the wealthy kings that lived along the Nile before the birth of Jesus Christ. incredible sweets. i implore anyone that is reading to try the delectable goodness cooked from the timeless recipes of the handsome and talented Syrian man behind the counter. HIGHLY recommend

Our child also really enjoys their "bullet train" transportation system for meat orders which speed down the kitchen conveniently to our table. All other food fare rotates around gradually with clear labels that advise how long to cook certain noodles, vegetables, and assorted ingredients. The restaurant is spacious and feels so even when bustling with high ceilings and adorable glass displays of collectibles. They have a sauce bar with all the necessary accoutrements as well as assorted hot foods and dessert. Speaking of dessert, while they have several to order in the menu as well as boba and other offerings, their seasonal desserts near the sauce bar are awesome. I've had herbal jelly suspended in a milk tea and a strawberry milk variation that were both so refreshing. Perfect palate cleansers. There's a small lot right to the side of the restaurant, some street parking, and parking on the streets nearby (to the back and side). Be careful to read the signage posted to ensure you're in a valid spot.

Love the concept of rotary veggies and ingredients on the conveyor belt, and some meats can come on a train, that looks neat. The good: I chose the herbal chicken and the spicy pickled mustard green soups bases, both soups are great and flavorful, the sauce bar has a great selection to make your own sauce, and the tiger sauce is incredible, (don't miss out on that one), the place is clean and fancy, service was incredible, waitress was checking on us constantly to make sure we are covered. Con: I wished there are more variety on the protein section, some veggies or ingredients are grouped, like carrots and taro, or assorted mushrooms, making it a little annoying if somebody just wanted one ingredient in specific, and the desserts took a little longer than I tough it could. In overall it is great place to dinner and give it s try :)

A very nicely decorated place with great taste and attention to detail. I went with my friends for an afternoon coffee. We all ordered different types of coffee, and every single one was excellent. Unlike chain coffee shops where everything comes in paper cups, here you actually get a real cup, which I really appreciated. My friends also ordered spinach pie and said they hadn't had such a good one in a long time. The guys who work there are very kind and pleasant. Overall, everything was truly wonderful. I would definitely recommend everyone to visit this place!

This one was no different in the style, and decor of the interior there was also no different in being extremely busy. It might have been our fault for coming on a weekend, but we had no other choice. And it was as busy as ever. However, it was quick. They were quick to bring it our order out, and have it ready, despite being so busy inside. We did have to wait a little bit to find a table for our family as large as ours, but that seems to be the norm, because most tables also seem to have about six people on each. The adeni as always is a must have and always my favorite to get. The honeycomb bread and a smattering of other little treats we got from the display cafe that they have was also good and welcome to have in a typical windy day. I would note that even though it smells delicious in here with the coffee aromas, this does not would not be a good place to come to study. This feels like a very friendly friend of the environment because we saw so many different families here and because of that, it was very loud. Just as a heads up. If you're looking to have tea or coffee after dinner out with a family, then this is the place.

There were two staff working and both were so kind during my visit. I decided to get a breakfast sandwich to go and a pastry for a treat for later. Sandwiches are cooked to order. I ordered The Standard which the menu says is bacon, souffled egg, and hot honey on a waffle. Because I got it to go, it was wrapped in a hot sandwich type deli paper. I didn't taste any hot honey at all but this sandwich was delicious. I loved the souffled eggs which were so light and fluffy. I think my particular sandwich got a liiiitle extra toasty, the waffle was pretty dark and the bacon was bordering burnt, which isn't my preference. This sandwich is deceivingly filling. I couldn't quite finish it but man was I full. I will absolutely be back for this and to try other sandwiches. For later I grabbed a flattened strawberry pistachio croissant from the bakery side. I actually love the flattened part of this because it was so much easier to eat than big fluffy croissants and still had all the flakiness that laminated dough pastries bring. I loved this! I can't wait to go back and try their big soft pretzel and maybe a drink next time! Thank you Kneads and Wants!
