We really enjoyed this chic little cafe in Skokie. We originally were planning to go to another cafe that happened to be closed that morning. Sweet Reserve was around the corner with ample street parking, so we decided to head on in. The location has so much seating, and there were only two other patrons there at the time. The server was really kind and helped us navigate through the menu as hungry first time customers. We opted for a kashmiri chai, an almond croissant, and a jalapeño cheddar twisted bread. The pastry, both savory and sweet, were delicious and the perfect buttery crisp. I really enjoyed the kashmiri chai which warmed me up immediately. Plenty of drink choices, my favorite is the Kashmiri chai. It's just perfect. I got the pumpkin cookie butter latte which was a fall special. Definitely recommend! So many sweet choices, including tarts and macaroons. They do have other food options, I'd have to find time to stay there to order it though. We stumbled on this amazing bakery filled with pastries, ice cream, coffee, tea, cakes, cupcakes and so many other delicious treats. They have only been open for a year and so happy to find an amazing bakery so close by. We ordered a variety of items and they are all delicious. It's a very nice spot to have coffee and meet up with friends, or simply a good place to study or work. Haven't tried their coffee or tea but I met it's great when added with one of their wonderful pastries. stopped in to pick up a full size gulab jamun cheesecake and bought some pretty earrings that support a good cause. would love to stay in next time to try pastries, food, and tea. the gulab cheesecake was other worldly. they toned down the traditional sweetness of the syrup so that it doesn't overpower the cream. the crust is the gulab jamun and it stayed in tact beautifully in the summer heat of chicagoland. this is a great birthday cake or celebration cake. the cheesecake part was fluffy. i'm not a big dessert girl but this was fab. read more

I've been going to Sweet Reserve since they opened this past summer, and it's been a delight every time. Accessible location with the yellow line stop just a few minutes away, clean and stylish interior. Great place to have a sweet treat or come do some studying/work. My usual go-to is the Moroccan mint tea, which I feel like goes well with every sweet on the menu. This time I tried their pumpkin cheesecake and it was delicious. That's it. Go have some right now. 06/21/24 - Sweet Reserve on Oakton Ave in Skokie. I came here last week and have been dreaming about the Sweet Butter Pecan Roll so decadent rich & delicious. Visited Sweet Reserve on a Friday for a meet up with some friends. Sweet Reserve is located in downtown Skokie just off the Yellow line stop and down the street from Complimentary cafe. Upon arrival, there was plenty of street parking around the area. They do have a 2hr time limit for Monday-Friday until 6pm. Upon entry, I was greeting by the helpful staff but grabbed a table to set down my things first while I waited for my friends to arrive. When we were ready, we walked up to order off the menu. We shared a few sweets, savory, and a pitcher of their chai. Once you order you are given a number to have the goods brought to you once it's ready. To start, we got a chocolate danish and a sticky pecan bar. The Chocolate danish was also filled with chocolate. The Sticky pecan bar was soft and caramelly. Highly recommend getting both heated up to enjoy. For our savory items, we got the Turkish ground beef bread, and the burata caprese. The ground beed turkish bread was shaped flavorful with a nice little kick, it reminded me of a personal pizza. But the start of the bites was the burrata caprese with the sweet from the balsamic and the creaminess from the cheese and the flavors of the sundried tomatoes made each bite really enjoyable. For the table we got a pitcher of the kashmiri chai which was a bit sweeter and pinker in color. It came with 4 glasses, and served hot. It was delish and I would absolutely come back and get it again for myself, haha. We were there towards closing and it got super busy. So excited to see a new business thriving in the community. We came here to check out this dessert place that had recently opened; their original location is out in Lombard, and they plan on opening another spot in Schaumburg. Our group ordered a gulab jamun cheesecake, tiramisu, and an opera cake; these were just okay, and not sure if these are picked up from a distribution place or if these are made in-house; just was not impressed. The staff and the service here, on the other hand, was pretty atrocious - even though there were 3 staffed on the day we went, they just were not keeping up with the orders and had no efficiency. In addition, the tables and the floors were just dirty and not taken care of; garbage, stickiness, and crumbs were just all over the place. Glad we were able to check this place out, but definitely not worth a return visit. This bakery is almost perfect! The food is immaculate. I can't wait to come back and eat more. Right after morning workouts, we stopped by and of course we were hungry and thirsty. We got two lemonades, one of their cakes in a cup (this was the signature chocolate one), a chocolate croissant, and a Ferrero Rocher brownie. Everything was delicious it's insane. I chugged that mango lemonade so fast because it was delicious. I also liked the taste of the strawberry lemonade and I'm not a fan of strawberry flavors but this was good. I don't know how they got that much flavor of cake in that tiny container but it was so good we ate it on the spot. The croissant was soft and flaky, chocolates were melting, I loved it. And the brownie? How did yall do that. It's soft in the bottom half and crunchy on the top half. Also it was a big brownie. The food was awesome. We can't wait for another visit for the food alone. But also the service was very nice and they were great and polite. The only thing that dropped the rating for me is the ambiance. This is a beautiful establishment and it was empty when we got there (9 am on Sunday), so I'm not sure if that had to do with it. I hope it was just an early start morning thing but it was dead silent. Considering we didn't get coffee and no one was there, there was no music to set the mood, no coffee machine noises, you could hear a pin drop. I've visited a few times since the grand opening and typically I only order karak chai but this time I bought a ras malai tres leches cake for my mom's birthday. I was very surprised by the cake because the mini version was nowhere near as good. An 8 inch cake is $35 which is a reasonable price and it fed 12 of us. I got the gulab jaam cheesecake -- a favorite, has actual gulab jaam on the bottom, passionfruit cheesecake -- nice and tart, jello texture, and pistachio tiramisu -- this is a bit dry and could use more sweetness, it also had a pretty thick chunk of just pistachio in the center of top layer that just didn't taste good. Was in the neighborhood and I decided to pop by to use my reusable Skokie cup (for the month of January you can get free drip coffee or tea at the businesses listed on the cup). I got a Karak Chai and it's so delicious. I'll definitely be back for the chai. I also got a pecan sticky bun which was also so great. Welcome to Skokie, Sweet Reserve!! We have been anxiously waiting for your debut and I'm happy to say, your arrival has not disappointed! I first came here on a Friday and it was absolutely slammed because it was opening day and with two toddlers in tow, there was no way they would patiently wait. I decided to come back again on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't absolutely slammed- my luck. Location, location, location! The location is ideal, if you've ever taken the Oakton yellow line train especially early in the morning, you know that there is not a coffee shop in close proximity to the train so the fact that this is less than a five minute walk and less than a five minute wait to get your drink is amazing! The only downside is that most commuters traveling downtown will leave weekdays around 6:30-7:00 am but the cafe itself doesn't open until 8:00 am weekdays. There is free street parking available on both sides of the street and easily accessible by train and bus! I loved the energy of the space when you walk in, very calm and peaceful. I also didn't expect the cafe to be as large as it is and to have as much selection as it does. I came in another weekday and I was stunned that they had samples of some of their desserts out- this btw is how i walked away with their amazing Nutella stuffed croissant is out of this world!! However, one thing I will say I really admire is that the majority of their baristas are either high school or college students who are still learning how to make coffee. Have grace and patience with them as they learn- feel free to tell them if the milk needs more frothing. This was when the coffee shop just opened in the beginning but they were all learning and as we all know, we could use a little patience and understanding. The coffee was okay, the milk could've been frothed a little more but I still enjoyed it. I also had their breakfast menu and just about tried everything on it- the Philly cheese though, Omgosh!!! I was taking a walk around downtown Skokie on a Saturday morning. I enjoy this area as they have many unique small businesses coffee shops/bakeries all in walking distance from each other. I usually go to wills place or kneads and wants but remembered my co worker friend talking about sweet reserve and decided to give it a try. I ordered online, a Turkish bread with spinach, a cinnamon oat milk chai latte and three different cake pops (Dubai chocolate, fruity pebbles and cookie butter) My latte was delicious! I'm not a fan of chai on its own but i really enjoy cinnamon and oat milk in my coffee so i was curious to give it a try, and so glad I did! It was very smooth and subtle not too sweet or over loaded with"spice " as other chais I've gotten were. I drank it pretty fast! The bread was really delicious! I found a near by park and sat down to enjoy my coffee and ate half of the bread. It had melted cheese and spinach. All the ingredients tasted very fresh! When I got home I took another bite of my spinach bread and it wasn't as good cooled down but a quick trip in the toaster oven fixed it right up. I haven't tasted the Dubai cake pop yet, but the other two were very tasty. I like that they were shaped like mini ice cream bars instead of the traditional ball shape so they were more than just one bite. I'll definitely be back! read more

First time here today. Space is cute. Love local establishments and wanted to support. Got a Carmel Macchiato (it was fine but it cost $7+ for a 16 oz. Seemed a tad much). Also had a chicken croissant sandwich, it was good not great. It came with a side of basic potato chips. Didn't buy but bakery items seemed pricey! Service, the cashier seemed like she didn't want to be there. No smile, no enthusiasm at all. The person who delivered my coffee was nice, he asked if I needed more caramel which was nice. Overrated and overhyped, at least from what I noticed and the line first day. In essence, looks much much better than it tastes. Add to it pretty high prices....even though it is a block away from me and even though I was excited for it to open to have lunch and desert place, it did not appeal to me. My party had biscoff cheesecake, tres lecce, popscicle, tried all three and just average. At a later time had a piece of biscoff cake at my relatives...typical jewel/marianos cake with not much flavor beyond expected icing. We dropped by to share a Kashmiri Chai, a burrata caprese tartine (a thin slice of sourdough with burrata cheese, roasted cherry tomatoes, and drizzled with a balsamic glaze) and a brownie. The tea was great and the crushed pistachios lent it an interesting flavor and added texture. The open-faced sandwich was fine but small for the price and did not offer a good balance of flavors and textures. A pinch of Maldon salt and a tiny pinch of freshly ground black pepper would have perked up the dish. Or perhaps if the kitchen took the time to tear or slice the basil leaves instead of laying them whole on the top of the sandwich, that would have released the essential oils and natural pepperiness of the herbs. We asked for it to be sliced in half but the kitchen forgot and it was served to us whole. The brownie was large and looked scrumptious. A bite proved this to be accurate - the brownie was delectable! Could it have been more chewy? Yes, it could have benefited from a little more chew. But it was fudgy and chocolaty enough to satisfy our cravings the Monday evening that we were there. The place is spacious inside and could easily accommodate large groups of friends and families that might want to meet here for tea, coffee and/or dessert.
