Bonbon Bakeshop is new in the area and right off of Oakton. There is plenty of street parking and also a couple of public parking lots nearby (next to Chase bank, for example). The whole store front is floor to ceiling windows and they state clearly on the door that they are a cashless (!!!) business so make sure you come prepared for that. There is a large retail display on the left wall when you walk in and counter seating with stools in the front windows. There are large display cases at the register with pastries and desserts. I have not yet tried the gelato or the bonbons, but I have been in several times to enjoy other desserts. The retail area offers full size specialty chocolate bars, and there are generally some samples available. These are packed really beautifully and are also delicious. Perfect for a little gift, or in a gift basket, or as a special treat for yourself. My favorite items to order from Bonbon bakeshop are their big cake slices. They have several different flavors, but my absolutely favorite is the Coconut Fluff cake. When they're baking this, the entire store (the entire block) smells like sugar and coconut and it's so enticing. This does seem to be a top seller for them and I have seen this one sold out! I think about this cake all the time. My partner loves the PB&J cake slice. I was a little skeptical of this flavor profile not feeling "desserty" enough, but Bonbon has really made something special here with this one, turning a lunch favorite into the sweetest treat. The chocolate hazelnut crunch slice is my backup if Coconut Fluff is out, a classic flavor pairing and a really delicious choice here. Service is always so kind and attentive here, from being invited to the official ribbon cutting on my first visit to recommendations on my most recent visit. Super cute little bake shop in downtown Skokie. We knew of them from the Skokie's farmer's market and was so happy to hear they opened up a bake shop. We came by and were able to try some yummy samples before we bought a few slices of cake. The Oreo overload and coconut fluff were the 2 we bought, but the sample of the carrot cake were delicious. They had a carrot Oreo in the fridge as a whole cake that I was eyeing, my 2 favorite flavors in 1. All in all, the cakes were yummy'! Can't wait to come back soon to try others. read more

Bonbon is a good example of a bakeshop that started off small with a stand at Skokie Farmers Market and then took a big step of having a brick and mortar shop. Bonbon specializes in hand baked, artisanal pastries, chocolates, gelato, etc. Here you'll find a nice variety of cakes, exotic chocolates, decadent pastries, and cool gelato flavors (see my photos). On my first visit to Bonbon, I got a scoop of their Buttermilk Strawberry Red Wine Spice after sampling it. It was really delicious. We were tempted to get more items but we opted to save them for a future visit. We sampled some chocolates that were placed near their chocolates display. They were good. We were impressed by the variety Bonbon had to offer. Everything is hand-made in-house and at least from the looks standpoint everything looked delicious and drool worthy. We received good service. The variety of offerings was good, their pricing was on expensive side. However, that pricing comes from the fact that their offerings are all hand-made w/ fresh ingredients and aren't mass produced. Visited here for the first time on a random Saturday morning after having breakfast next-door. There were no customers in here however there's a great seating area at the very front with antique barstools. Your shelves are full of options to buy ready to maid, small cakes, coffees, and chocolates. There was also a case full of ice cream chocolates and their baked goods and then a separate shelf with the day specials, which included an almond croissant and a chocolate croissant and a specific muffin. The lady who is working here this particular day was very nice, but not too knowledgeable. As I did ask her about the ingredients of the carrot cake, but she wasn't sure. She was the person who actually made the chocolates. We ended up getting five items and bringing them home. And everything was super tasty and fresh. Everything really tasted like it was homemade. And I believe most of the items are made on site because you could see behind the counter, the baking ovens and trays of goodies. I would definitely come back here again. They've only been open for about three weeks is what the lady said and I truly hope that they succeed, especially in downtown Skokie. Downtown Skokie needs some legit businesses as well as bakeries. I hope that as they grow in maturity and tenure in this space that hopefully they can solidify their menu and core items as well as maybe even venture into some custom orders would be fantastic to see. I wish them the absolute best and I would definitely come back here again!!! read more

This vintage vibes bakery is the cutest! Delicious baked goods, beautiful chocolates and yummy gelato. I ate my gelato in the window seats. I took home the triple chocolate brownie, a slice of the coconut floof cake and a bag of the toffee corn crunch. I was offered samples of everything and had to physically remove myself before cleaning out the cases. Can't wait to come back! read more

All in-house made baked goods and chocolate candies (during this soft opening time February 2026 taste the free sample bonbons). Not much seating - six stools at the window counter - but pleasant Latin pop music and wonderful drip coffee from Oak Park's Whirlwind company. The baked goods such as cookies and cake slices are so huge that one person cannot eat the whole thing in one sitting. Friendly informed staff. Will be back to get bonbon assortments for gifts when I travel (gotta be better than F.M. store on Lincoln where the candy is trucked in from their Ohio factory).
