First we'll talk about the Neapolitan- amazingly clever layers of chocolate and vanilla cake with not-too-sweet strawberry cream. Laurel's cake texture is perfection every time, moist and soft. I reached out to Khushboo after seeing her post on Facebook on Tuesday, November 17th, via messenger and she responded very quickly. The item that caught my attention were her cute hot chocolate bombs so I asked to pick some up from her on Thursday, November 19th, in time for my nieces to spend the weekend with us. My 4-year old daughter loves all things chocolate and I don't mind enjoying a cup of hot chocolate every now and then so I decided to order a 4-pack for us to try. I got the "unicorn" for my daughter since she really likes unicorn. Sadly, my daughter prefers milk chocolate over white chocolate so I ended up having to help her finish it. It was a little too much milk for my liking, but I liked the fact that it wasn't overly sweet. I got the "Tea Me Up" for myself since I do enjoy a nice cup of chai latte & it was perfect for the cold weather. Although, I must warn you that it is a little bit spicy. I got the "Chocolala" for my 11-year old niece because she likes all her food/drink to be as plain and simple as possible and this fit her taste perfectly. I got the "Guess Who's Salty" for my 15-year old niece because she loves salted caramel flavor desserts. Sadly, I received a text from her dad that she ended up in the ER for juvenile diabetes type 1--so, she never got to try it & I decided to give it to my 11-year old niece instead. The chocolate bombs are super cute and such a fun idea. They would definitely make a great stocking stuffer. Although, they're a little pricey for everyday consumption so I wouldn't recommend drinking one daily. I asked to have tiny vegan marshmallows added for $0.50/each. Very nice touch! I had a mixed experience with my recent cake order. On the positive side, Maria was a pleasure to work with. She was very responsive, timely in her communication, and demonstrated a strong work ethic. I appreciated her efforts to streamline the process and make it as easy as possible for me. However, there were several issues that impacted my overall satisfaction. Initially, I wanted a two-tier cake, but I found the pricing structure somewhat confusing. The difference between a two-tier and three-tier cake was only about $50, which made the decision-making process unclear. Additionally, I was disappointed to learn that each tier of the cake is limited to a maximum height of 5 inches. If you're looking for taller tiers, this might not be the right option for you. The pickup location was another point of frustration. While the default pickup location is in Fremont, I was informed that weekend pickups are in San Ramon. Unfortunately, my delivery person was not willing to drive to San Ramon on the day of the event, and while Maria offered a drop-off service to San Jose for an additional $50, this was an unexpected inconvenience and added cost. The total price for the cake was $550, and I gave Maria artistic freedom to combine two inspiration photos I provided. While I can see the effort and creativity that went into the piping and design, the cake itself fell short in terms of flavor. It was surprisingly dry and overly sweet, which may not suit East or Southeast Asian tastes. The strawberry cheesecake flavor was enjoyable for a bite or two, but the overwhelming sweetness and lack of pronounced strawberry flavor made it hard to fully enjoy. I truly hope Maria's business continues to grow, as her dedication and artistry are evident. However, for the price and overall experience, I was left feeling slightly disappointed. read more

I wanted to order a…read morecake for my sister's nursing graduation lunch and looking at Ashwini's portfolio online, I loved her style. Ashwini was so quick to respond via WhatsApp and throughout the whole process, she was very professional, prompt and so helpful. She made the whole ordering process so simple and a breeze. The end product was a beautiful cake that was much better than I imagined! It was a chocolate cake with vanilla icing and I was so happy she was able to use buttercream as opposed to fondant. So many bakers I had reached out to in the past with a similar type of request had told me this was not going to look the same as my request picture but Ashwini had NO issues at all which shows how skilled of a baker she is. Upon pickup, she also provided a pickup general guide which mentioned all of the objects on the cake were edible and which had a cast to avoid! Her attention to detail to mold each piece and even note it for me the customer, was incredible! I have been so impressed with her artistry, craft and professionalism and she is truly a dime in the cake decorating industry. I look forward to coming to her at the Dream Cakes for any future custom cake needs!
