The cake itself was a hit- my friends and family loves the whipped cream frosting and fresh strawberries inside the cake. The vanilla cake was a little dry (although we ate it the day after pick up) but the creaminess of the frosting helped make up for it. It's sad to see so many small businesses close down due to our politicians's lack of ability to put people before politics. I reached out to Khushboo after seeing her post on Facebook on Tuesday, November 17th, via messenger and she responded very quickly. The item that caught my attention were her cute hot chocolate bombs so I asked to pick some up from her on Thursday, November 19th, in time for my nieces to spend the weekend with us. My 4-year old daughter loves all things chocolate and I don't mind enjoying a cup of hot chocolate every now and then so I decided to order a 4-pack for us to try. I got the "unicorn" for my daughter since she really likes unicorn. Sadly, my daughter prefers milk chocolate over white chocolate so I ended up having to help her finish it. It was a little too much milk for my liking, but I liked the fact that it wasn't overly sweet. I got the "Tea Me Up" for myself since I do enjoy a nice cup of chai latte & it was perfect for the cold weather. Although, I must warn you that it is a little bit spicy. I got the "Chocolala" for my 11-year old niece because she likes all her food/drink to be as plain and simple as possible and this fit her taste perfectly. I got the "Guess Who's Salty" for my 15-year old niece because she loves salted caramel flavor desserts. Sadly, I received a text from her dad that she ended up in the ER for juvenile diabetes type 1--so, she never got to try it & I decided to give it to my 11-year old niece instead. The chocolate bombs are super cute and such a fun idea. They would definitely make a great stocking stuffer. Although, they're a little pricey for everyday consumption so I wouldn't recommend drinking one daily. I asked to have tiny vegan marshmallows added for $0.50/each. Very nice touch! That said, the service is friendly and the employees are quick to help you and show you what they have in stock for takeout. I ordered the 4" Berry Berry Light Cake for a birthday, and they were able to write a birthday message on the cake board, which I really appreciated. The cake also tasted very light and the sweetness was subtle, which I really enjoyed. The berry flavor in the sponge was a little too subtle, though. My main concern is that the cake does not fully resemble the picture they advertised online. It is missing the freeze-dried berries on top, and the berry glaze did not reach as far down the cake as was shown in the photo. Because the berry glaze is the main source of the berry flavor, this was a little disappointing. Also, the cake was not finished when I came to pick up the cake (and I was ~5 minutes late). I'm uncertain if this is for freshness or if there is another reason. Overall, I like the spot for the fresh and light cake. It's pleasantly unique compared to your standard sheet cake, and everything is rather cute. However, it may be a better idea to buy the cakes in-person to be 100% sure of what it will look like, though daily stock is definitely more limited than if you place an order online. I tried a couple of her famous flavors before deciding- Neapolitan and an intense chocolate cake (I forget the exact name). Holy cannoli. First we'll talk about the Neapolitan- amazingly clever layers of chocolate and vanilla cake with not-too-sweet strawberry cream. Laurel's cake texture is perfection every time, moist and soft. The flavors were scrumptious. LOVE ON A PLATE. The chocolate which I got for my then fiance's birthday. Delicious, moist chocolate cake with layers of filling- chocolate buttercream (which I would bathe in if given the chance and guarantee that no one would judge me) as well as a light chocolate mousse. It was delicious but not too rich so that I could enjoy my whole piece of cake. I went with the Neapolitan for our wedding cake. It was gorgeous and amazing, beautifully decorated. The store size is as expected of a small bakery. I think due to its cake output and the demand i would recommend calling earlier than later to reserve a cake, but also hope that they pick up the phone. The guava cake did not have very much guava taste. I'm used to the Zippy kind of guava cake and was hoping to experience something similar. The guava cake at this bakery may be a Guam influenced type so keep your expectations in check.
