We had talked during my appointment and I told her all about the vacation on the beach I had planned to leave for two days after this appointment and all about how I love going to the gym and how I was going to go after this appointment. Now this is probably setting off red flags for anyone who has gotten waxes before but like I said this was my first. Honestly shame on me for not doing research or believing my waxed would educate me. She was well aware of my plans and gave me ZERO after care instructions. I will spare yall the in depth details but just know. Weeks of tweezing every single hair follicle for WEEKS. I was left with gross bumps and like I said every single follicle was an ingrown, I've never in my years of shaving down there had this happen. Now that I've done research I'm aware that I should have booked sooner or after my trip and definitely not gone to the gym after. It has been excruciatingly painful and I called after my trip and whoever I spoke to in the phone was completely professional and understanding of my situation. They texted me to book my next one and the lady I spoke to gave me hope that not everyone was as uneducated as Audrey. Audrey should not have a position at this location if she is unable to do some as simple as giving aftercare instructions or let me know I should rebook after my trip. The location later called me to discuss my issues and I got 'I'm sorry you feel that way' multiple times. I'm sorry you guys employ someone who leaves their clients like this. Completely unprofessional today but creds to whoever I spoke to over the phone originally. Do not book at this location if you don't wanna walk out worse than you walked in

It was so bittersweet after my Colombian nail tech in my previous White Plains neighborhood…read morementioned that she will not be able to return to NY. On the other hand, cutting out that hour and a half drive to get to her (I'd catch up with a bulk of other errands while I'm at it) gives me some serious time and energy while I'm closer to home. Plus not having her around ;-( gave me a chance to branch out and look for a nail salon in Kingston. A bunch of the low Yelp ratings I saw for other nail salons elsewhere had huge red flags: bad technique, rushed jobs, or even unsanitary tools. The way I see it, when it comes to personal care like nails, you definitely want to see high ratings and consistent praise. I mean, don't you? While Pretty X only has one review, that was enough to bring me here. I honestly came here on a whim. Pretty Xo is dreamy, soft, welcoming and clean. The space has a minimalist-chic feel with their airy, beige walls, flooring is done in blonde wood planks and faux florals adding a touch of color. I started with Lily for my manicure who was super gentle, which I really appreciated. Then Yan took over for my pedicure. She wasn't so frilly- but definitely not rough- just the right amount of strength and attention for my legs. She took her time, especially with trimming and from there, it was all uphill. It's not only about aesthetics (though it's important to me)- it's also about hygiene, safety, and someone working up close and personal on your hands and feet. The $63 price tag is a bit more than what I used to spend, but honestly, it was worth it for the serene and relaxing atmosphere.

Since moving to The Catskills, I've had to orbit myself to accomplish those go-to appointments I…read morehad while living in White Plains. One of them being my bi-weekly regular mani+pedi. I love my nail tech in White Plains so much- I wish I could clone her so she can deliver the same expertise and care in my neck of the woods. Keep dreaming, Mercedes. Keep dreaming. Beauty Depot on Wall St in Kingston, NY doesn't scream like the place where you can relax and be pampered- but they were able to fit me in on a Sunday with Lexie. My pedi session with her kicked off the usual polish removal, filling, etc. who turned out to be super patient, unhurried and smooth with her hands. For my regular, short-length nails, Lexie provided essential nail+cuticle care, lotion massage, a hot towel wrap and nail polish application. I'm not one to bitch about money when it comes to any of my beauty regimen- but the $50 for both my mani+pedi here- in this trendy side of Kingston is more than what I paid while living in White Plains. Plus theres no attention to detail and it's unkept. Whether it's a facial I'm getting, massage or whathaveyou, I'm not paying just for the end result, I'm paying for the experience- which I didn't get at Beauty D.

Meet Katherine Elizabeth (KE)- the badass with the steady hands and a heart of gold. Tucked in the…read moreback of Skin City Tattoo on Broadway in Kingston, NY, KE's piercing studio is more than just a space. Think cozy nook meets pink-covered table to lay down+funky charm and completely professional. It's the kind of spot that puts you at ease fast, whether you're getting your first piercing or your tenth. I'm usually not the type to follow other people's fashion or styling sense- but there's one influencer I was drawn to. Not because she has a bohemian vibe (ok, yes) but her content is inspiring and bold. And when she got her daith, I said to myself, "well, it's not a tattoo nor will I have a piercing on my face" (no offense to anyone). So a daith it was! When I began reading up on piercers in my area, KE won. She's fierce at what she does and a true expert who knows a woman's body like a freaking book. Oh...and she's funny as hell! Since I'm new to a daith piercing, she took care of me real good. She was gentle and knew exactly how to make my piercing experience smooth and fun. Whether you start with a classic U-shaped barbell or go for a sleek hoop like I did with a diamond-edge sparkle, because hey... style matters, KE will help you through it all. And the jewelry? Let's just say your options aren't basic. From titanium to rose gold, tiny studs to bold hoops, she has a range of styles and metals that match every vibe. So yes, my piercing is great- but the experience was even better. And let's be clear- KE doesn't play when it comes to safety. She's always gloved up, every tool sanitized, every surface spotless. I felt totally confident that I was in a clean and professional space where safety came on top. Aside from the daith piercing, I also changed an existing top piercing with a compression black onyx(?) stud that I totally fell in love with. When everything was said and done with the two earrings, the daith piercing and a saline piercing mist, $162 was worth it. She takes appointments but walk-ins are totally cool too. If you're ready to get pierced by someone who just gets it, KE's your girl.

It is safe, sterile, and a great place to get pierced or cosmetic tattooing or a nice haircutread more
