I got this as a surprise gift for a friend, but in the end they couldn't take it. I received a 60 minute massage from Catlin, my gosh, she was incredible. Her technique was slow and deep but with care, it felt like someone who wasn't in a rush, and was mindfully trying to make you feel good. This place is alright, I would def spend more money to go to a spa such as the emerson or mohonk. I spent the same amount of money for an hour massage without the "spa" experience. The most you get is a birch wood setting in the front office. You go down a dark hallway to a room that doesn't really look like a "relaxation" room. I didn't have any music playing during my massage so it made me a little anxious. I wouldn't waste my money here again.... They could live up to the name of the "spa" term they call themselves as well. At least some spa music, not dead silence. read more

I was looking for a local place that offered couples massages and found birch body care through an Internet search. Then, I noticed several of my friends "like" them on Facebook so I decided to give them a try. First, the prices are VERY reasonable. A hour long couples massage was only $130. I'm used to going to Mohonk Mtn house spa and an hour long massage for one person is way more than that and I cannot say they do a better job than Birch. Plus Birch is much more accessible and comfortable, and feels more local (small business). We arrived late because of a few local events that had some streets closed but they were friendly, accommodating, and helped us get in and started as quickly as possible. The aesthetics are clean and comfortable with an organic feel. My massage therapist was Winter and she was wonderful. She communicated well about my personal needs and my preferences for pressure, yet she was also intuitive of what I didn't know I needed. Overall it was a wonderful and relaxing experience. I will definitely return. They have a really neat walk-in option where you pay $1/minute so I may try that on a future lunch break! read more

Wow!! Great massage! I am in town visiting with family and needed a massage after a spine-twisting trip on Amtrak from Chicago. Someone in the family suggested Ani and I dropped her an email. She was quick to respond and able to accommodate my schedule. Her office is very calming and quirky; the massage room is absolutely perfect. It's dimly lit and you can choose the type of music you want, if you want music at all. Ani is very welcoming and made me feel at home immediately. Ani paid close attention to the areas I needed work on, as indicated on the form you fill out when you arrive. She was attentive and the massage was just wonderful. I LOVED this place. Although it isn't a super fancy spa (which we all know can be nice to splurge at some times), the massage I got was of better quality than expensive spas I've spent a lot more money on for a massage. The place is clean and quiet. The Staff is very friendly and inviting. I got a heavy weight massage which made me feel like I got my butt kicked in the best way ever. I sit at a desk all day long M-F and I get tons of knots all over my back. After my massage here, I felt like a new person with all the work that the masseuse did on my back. Not to mention the AWESOME foot massage I received as part of it. I'm already trying to get in for a couples massage so my boyfriend can appreciate this place like I did after my first visit. Located on a side street in the historic stockade district, the exterior will fool you. Once inside you immediately sense that this place is serious about serenity. With birch wood walls, soothing fountains, Himalayan salt lamps and the calming aromatherapy smells. The rooms are dark, plush and calming. Just had a Vitamin C facial with Ali. WOW. It was one of the best facials I have ever had...she was thorough, careful, thoughtful, precise and knowledgable. My skin is glowing. I was relaxed, and also felt justified in being there as she actively involved herself in working on my skin. Knowing a therapy massage means some pain, but gets to the source of the problem, I was eager to get relief, being a very active person, who now was using a cane and on pain medication for a week. Dusty explained throughout the process how she was trying to free up the muscle(s) affecting the sciatic nerve which was giving me total immobility and pain...my life was in shambles hardly being able to move about without a cane. After an hour of intense specific massage to the affected area, I was able to not only leave without a cane, but come home and appreciate some freedom, which I previously took for granite. The next option would have been Cortizone shots, which would not have loosened up all the muscles, just masked the pain. Thank you, and I will be more diligent about making these treatments more frequent and not at a time of total stress. read more

Horrible customer service. No point of reliving the story about how we were treated - just beware that this is not a place that will treat you with respect. Atrocious experience and I hope to be able to one day erase it from my memory. Long story short, we didn't get our massages. RESPONSE TO COMMENT: Unfortunately, that's simply not what happened. We GOT a call on Valentine's because we were on the waiting list for a couples massage and there had been a cancellation (we were told). We asked, as students with really limited funds as you can understand, if we could get the 30 minute massage for the price of the one hour massage cut in in two - a reasonable request - and we made it clear that if that wasn't possible, that's okay, we're still interested. The person on the phone said she would ask and call us back, and hung up. We waited, but she said we need to get there 15 minutes after we spoke at the latest, so we thought "hey, we're first on the waiting list, so either way, might as well drive there since we are next in line for these massages and there's no reason it shouldn't work out." We get there - TURNS OUT, instead of calling us back like she said she would, she called someone else and filled the spot in the 10 minutes between when we spoke and when we got there... I assume this is the manager writing so you only have information that your employee gave you - of course she would twist the story to protect herself but the truth is that we have no reason to lie about what happened. We were willing customers who by the way extremely rarely raise any trouble with a business. Calling someone else before notifying us in any way and without giving us the option to pay the full price (only $4 more than we had asked about by the way) is pretty shocking customer service. Level with us here -- what could we have done differently?? We are students and we wanted to do something nice for Valentine's Day so we asked if there was a POSSIBILITY for a meager discount to help us make that happen, but made it clear that it's ok if not. Maybe we'll come by again and we can work this out in person, as I'm sure it's not the business's fault as a whole that this happened. Still, it really put a damper on our Valentine's Day to be treated like we're useless customers and don't even deserve a call back just because we asked for the possibility of $4 off the listed price. read more

I generally can get an appointment when I call with pretty short notice and so far the quality is very good to excellent. As of late the prices are nearing NYC massage prices for the deep tissue. I was drawn in by the $1/per minute massage deal, and I ended up doing an appointment for the 30 minute massage at $35. It was very relaxing and the staff was friendly. However there was a miscommunication, and as during a massage, one generally loses track of time. As I scheduled the 30 minute, the masseuse went over the time and decided to go for the full hour at $65 without asking me or acknowledging what my appointment was for. It was disappointing as my stress was only taken away temporarily until I ended up paying for something I did not sign up for. My back felt slightly better, but I think it will be my last time here. read more
