After I entered the Marietta Dental and Implant Center, it was at that point that I decided to go to Yelp to look at the reviews. I am not sure why I didn't look here first, but I suppose it was due to what was considered in-network with my insurance coverage that made the decision for me and it was not to far from where I live. I was impressed that the office entry was very cozy and comfortable. The decor was simple, yet elegantly placed and it had a sophisticated design. There was a coffee and tea station available and the receptionist seemed very welcoming and friendly. While I waited to be seen, I decided to look at the reviews. Nothing too startling about the negative feedback generated any concern because I always look at who is providing those reviews. A few things I use to make my consideration for which business I select are (1) Is the review completed by a YELP elite? This matters to me because there is a reason we earn that distinction and it matters to me when I see that they have taken the time to make a careful review of the business. (2) How many friends the person has on Yelp? I know that if there are zero friends and no photos then it is highly possible the review could be fake or generated from a competing business who desires to tarnish the reputation of the competitor's business. (3) What the does the actual review SAY about the business that matters most of all? This is important to me because I need to know what the business did or did not do that they should be doing under the guidelines of what they are in business for. Back to the review... Once I was called back to the space where I would have my cleaning procedure completed, the young lady told me that she would take my ex-rays and then the dentist would review them to recommend what I needed and if I agreed they would proceed with the cleaning. She was not a touchy feely personality for her approach is very matter-of-fact and assertive. I was not sure how this would pan out if she was the person to clean my teeth. Her comment about the dentist's recommendation was a little off-putting to me and it raised a red flag in my mind because I did read someone's review that they believed they were overcharged or felt that they were being duped into coming out of pocket unnecessarily for something they believed was intentional to generate more revenue in addition to the insurance claim. In the past, I have always had my cleaning first then the dentist would come in and check the work. I have to mention that I am ashamed to admit that it had been a long while since I have had my teeth professionally cleaned, but I have always had great teeth with never any cavities so I was not too worried, but my suspicion was charged and by the time the dentist came in to meet with me I was already on high alert. Dr. Johnson seemed nice enough. He explained to me my potential condition with a great detailed analogy, so I felt a little better and more trusting of what he told me. I felt a little ridiculous because I had garnered a cold attitude towards him due to those negative reviews in the back of my mind, but I remained cautiously optimistic. I soon discovered that a very kind person whose name that I cannot remember, but it started with an "L" I think would be the person who cleaned my teeth. This was a welcomed surprise because her energy is positive, upbeat, and she is more personable than the initial ex-ray lady. The dental hygienist knows how to engage people and is more interested in getting to know people which makes a patient feel better and welcome. The spaces where you are sitting in the chair has no closed door spaces. It is open and they seem to have the latest technology available as well. My dental hygienist had a lot of work to do, but she did it well and she also explained and talked about what she was experiencing inside my mouth. I appreciated her willingness to share her yard work and the community competition with me which made me take my mind off of the procedure and minimize the anxiety. Afterwards, I was given my little goodie bag and was on my way. I will be back in six months under this time will give me more of a rounded perspective of this practice. For now, I will give them 4.5 stars, but if anything changes that made it either outstanding or miserable, I will let you know. read more

Long HAPPY customer review. Skip to the end for the TL;DR. I unknowingly had a filling come out and another cavity developing after a regular cleaning. I was told I'd need the cavity drilled out and a crown put on as the tooth would be too far gone to repair. This particular dentist was out of network, so I'd need to go in-network for the work. I went to a local big box dental office where I was treated like both a number and a dollar sign. They confirmed that I'd need a crown in addition to several other upcharges. I didn't like anything about that office or dentist, so was determined to find a small independent dentist. I went to my dental insurance website and looked for any independent dentist within 25 miles of my home. It seems the only dentists in-network are big corporate offices with multiple dentists and bad reviews. I finally stumbled upon Dr. Mantique Johnson. The reviews were confusing because multiple dentists were mentioned at this address. The newer reviews were great, but some of the older ones were not so good. When I went to their website, there was only one dentist listed. I called to see if he was indeed the only dentist there and it was confirmed, so I decided to give him a try. I called to schedule an appointment assuming it would be several weeks out, but they said they could see me that very same day. I was greeted by the friendly receptionist and almost immediately called back. X-rays were taken and Dr. Johnson came right in. He asked me why I was there, I told him that I was told by 2 dentists that I needed a crown, he took a look, and immediately said he could drill out the cavity and fill the tooth without needing a crown. WHAT?! I didn't think this was even a possibility! He asked if I wanted to proceed, I confirmed, and then I was given the out-of-pocket amount after insurance. I approved and he immediately got to work. I was given numbing gel and even asked what I'd like to watch on TV. He came back a few minutes later, gave me my numbing injections (I barely felt them), and started drilling. He drilled out the cavity, filled it with porcelain, and worked on it until my bite was perfect. I was in and out in no time and was never once nervous or uncomfortable. Dr. Johnson has such a calm demeanor and was always letting me know what was happening and allowed for breaks if so desired. When it was time to pay the bill, it was only a tiny portion of what I was expecting. I truly couldn't be happier. Now that I was so happy Dr. Johnson and his office, I decided I wanted to become a permanent customer. I went in and was greeted by hygienist Lene. She was so friendly, informative, warm, and funny. She took all the necessary x-rays as well as my gum measurements. I told Lene that my previous cleaning was only 3 months ago, she said I didn't need one yet, but would be happy to do a cleaning. We decided to wait 2 more months just to be safe. You have to love the honesty of everyone at this office. As Lene said, she treats everyone as she likes to be treated and held true to that. One sidenote; the reviews online are for the physical Marietta Dental Center building regardless of who used to work there. Keep this in mind as Dr. Johnson has only been there since December 2022. Any reviews prior to that are not for him or his staff. Pay attention to the dates of the reviews. I've never been happier with a dentist and dental office than this one. TL; DR: Dr. Johnson is the best dentist I've ever encountered in all my years. He's passionate about what he's doing and isn't looking to upsell you. He and his entire staff are top notch. They proposed thousands of dollars worth of services six months ago with no follow up or communication. Loved my experience. I was a first new patient, I was seen right away for my cleaning. She got 98% of some old cement from prior braces off. She took her time and spent 2 hrs just to do this. I am thankful because I didn't know it was that much left on my teeth, considering I went to the dentist pretty routinely prior to changing dentist. My teeth have never felt better read more

It was the worst experience of my life! Had an appointment for filling replacement on 01/17/23. There is a new doctor there, not the ones that you see on their website. He gave 2 shots of anesthetic and left me alone in the room without any assistance. He said he will be back in 20 minutes. I started to feel dizzy, my heart rate went up, one side of face became numb, I couldn't swallow and I lost voice, my eye got wide open and I couldn't shut it.I started to make moves but was afraid to lose balance and fall. Made some noise for help. Assistant woman came and told that it is absolutely normal. I squeezed some words out that things like that never happen to me. Did this doctor overdose me with 2 shots? I can't stand up, I panic. I was able to call my husband and wisher him to pick me up from this place. Doctor came and did absolutely nothing to help. He just sarcastically said that if I don't want to get work done today, we will reschedule you and " please don't worry, you will be refunded for today's visit ". His assistant offered me water!!!! I CANNOT SWALLOW!!! I was able to move my legs in 15 minutes. All this time I was left alone in the room. Thank God my husband picked me up and took home. They are NOT professional. Unprofessional, don't explain procedures unless u ask several times,front desk Person (the black one) can be very intimidating...I've never had an experience like this with a dental office...the bathroom is tight and unpleasant... The Dr. doesn't have any bedside manners...the assistants do most of the jobs,he walks away without telling u anything...he is more concerned about getting as much money as he can in a day verses the care of the patient... Dr. Collins and his staff are very professional about their work. I would never give this office a low rating just because of an emergency situation with the Dentist, and I couldn't be seen. That sounds personal to me. I rate them based on service and how I was treated. Dr. Collins took the time out of his busy schedule to answer questions that I had relating to my dental care. He could have said that he couldn't answer me and charge a fee for me to come in, but he didn't, and I appreciate his professionalism and all of his help. I'm giving this dentist one star because of NOT of the doctor but the office manager Julie. She is the rudest and most unprofessional office manager I have ever seen. She flat out said she would not stop what she was doing to help me because I challenged her to give me the paperwork that was suppose to be sent to my insurance, but she did not. In other words, I caught her lying. While I was standing there, waiting for her to help me, she ignored me and picked up another person to help them. And after that, she picked up her car key and walked away. Unbelievable!!! And this person is supposedly the ambassador of the clinic to give the best service to their patients. On top of that, she had advised me that my doctor was within the network of my insurance. Come to find out, the doctor who treated me was not in the network, and I had to pay most of the money out of my pocket. If I had known that I could have picked out a Doctor Who is within my insurance Network I was driving an hour to the clinic because I was referred. Deceptive I had not been to them in over a year because after a procedure my mouth was numb for the entire day. THEY called me and offered me an appointment against my better judgment I went in provided them with my dental insurance information and they proceeded to do their form of a deep clean. Marietta Dental and Implant Center has a very nice understanding helpful bilingual front desk and assistants with reasonable prices and very detail oriented doctors. I don't think I will be going anywhere else for any of my dental needs from now on. They even have an in-house denture lab that offer same day repairs and once a month they get a doctor in the office who performs sedation appointments. They're pretty awesome they do it all basically. This place even offers financing for when my Dental PPO Insurance benefits run out. read more

AGREE..DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL OFFICE... Went as an emergency new patient, everything was addressed to make money except my emergency (the reason I was there)! Forced to not only take the needed X-ray, but was given an exam that addressed my future needs, not my present issue...had to ask what are you going to do about my tooth. Was charged 100.00 to re-cement crown that came off 4.5 hours later...if tooth foundation was not solid, why was I not told that!!! I am out of 160.00 and problem not solved, except to tell me my future treatment would be almost 3,000.00 dollars...will not be returning. Front desk customers was good. Very over priced for service and the diagnosis very bad. $235 for a tooth extraction. X-Rays and evaluation was $192. The average is $75 to $85. The average is $130. The extraction was painful and unpleasant. The Doctor git a attitude when I said I still feel pain. It was worst extraction I had ever had. Do not waste your time, money and patience at Manders Dental Center. They quoted me one price for two partials then later told me I owed them much more. I questioned this and was told I would get a refund. Then the said no refund. After MANY months of trying to get the partials made and adjusted, they still did not fight correctly. When I asked for my money back the dentist said no and that he had already spent more time than he should have on my partials and that I was expecting to much. I was so disgusted that I walk out. I'm not sure where these other people went. Alana, the front office person was amazing and very helpful. They had extremely discount prices and was willing to work for me. I had several extractions done with an immediate dentures. The doc explained prior to treatment all the pros and cons. They were very encouraging each time I came back for adjustments which I was aware of. Manders has been here for ove 15 years and a lot of my family has been there. They are also a commercial lab and the denturesare made there. If you need a denture or extractions, I strongly suggest this place. read more

**IF YOU NEED ROOT CANAL, FIND THE EXPERTS WHO SPECIALIZE IN THAT AREA NOT THIS PLACE PLUS OUT TO GET YOUR MONEY AND NOT YOUR BEST INTEREST AS THE PATIENT** ...First I was told I needed a filling, then two weeks later I was told I needed to have a root canal procedure on the same molar so I ended up getting that done also awhile back. Thinking this place is "affordable" at the time, I had paid $1200 just to have this done on one teeth and since I had no insurance I would expect to pay $800-$1000 extra for crowns. I could not afford crown so I left without that done. You would think you will get some type of discount since its self pay, nope. Unlike other physician office, they do give 10% off of service fee. Their equipment is Soooo out of date. Anyways, two months after procedure, I started feeling tooth ache from the same molar, to find out that the dentist who performed my root canal did not do a good job with it!! I will never go back and will never refer anyone here. Just recently the owner was on the news for practicing dentistry without license. The staff is somewhat friendly but certainly less than professional. When you read reviews, please take them into consideration before choosing a business. I didn't. I read the reviews and still decided to go to this office because it was local and I had a coupon. Turns out that they nearly didn't want to honor my coupon and being local meant nothing when I had to go for three seperate appointments to still not have all the work completed. They intentionally mislead me about the cost of my treatment and what my insurance would cover, based on my plan. They completed work that I had not consented to, and then charged me before I realized what was going on. When my insurance company denied the claims, I paid out of pocket, only to find out later that my insurance company had actually paid some of the claim. They were double paid and didnt' even bother to let me know. I've had to file a complaint with the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs. Very bad experience at this office. read more
