Along the way, you'll come across really interesting Civil War landmarks and historic markers that make the hike feel like stepping back in time. It's also very family-friendly and dog-friendly! I was able to hike it with my 4-year-old daughter walking beside me and my 1.5-year-old on my back, and we all had a blast. The views at the top are so worth it, and the whole mountain is filled with a sense of history and beauty. If you're looking for a hike that blends nature, family fun, and historic charm, Kennesaw Mountain is definitely worth the visit.

Time to find free power to charge up! Plugshare indicated that this was a spot and so here I am. After plugging the van into an outlet in the park, I took the time to wander around the park. Lots of great walking space as evidenced by three people who were walking the look with and without dogs. On a Sunday afternoon, not much going on but it's clear that this is ready for festivals and such with smooth grass areas and power outlets throughout. Lovely park, I enjoyed my time here for sure. Such a cute park next to the depot! Free public parking. Gated park with 2 picnic tables with…read moreumbrellas and 2 benches. It's next to a trail that winds down to a bridge and through the trees. You can enter the Depot (free) which is now the welcome center and check out the history behind Kennesaw (which was originally named Big Shanty). They're going to soon break ground in front of the depot to build an amphitheater (very exciting!) which means more space to gather for the community and for events. It's a short walk to the Frozen Cow Creamery and it's directly across from the Southern Museum and Locomotive History. Great park with so much history in downtown Kennesaw.

The markers program began in the early 80s. For any property of historic significance, an application can be filled to commemorate a new site. 34 markers are presently installed throughout Roswell. Through varied projects, the historical society is preserving and restoring the historic cemeteries of Roswell, focusing on old cemeteries that may not have an organization caring for them, like a church or the city. Researching and recording the information on the burials, cleaning the monuments themselves and thus, preserving and slowing the erosion. The mind is everything. It's a lovely town square with very pretty and lush grass, a number of picnic tables and a pretty bandstand. The marker reads, "The Square was part of town founder Roswell King's original town plan and is the center of the Roswell Historic District. The District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. President Theodore Roosevelt visited Roswell, his mother's girlhood home, in 1905 and addressed the citizens of Roswell from a bandstand on the Square." Street parking the far side is next to an outlet so it was great to be able to plug in the battery and do some charging while I explored. While there are no public restrooms or other facilities here, it's a pretty park and a nice stop. There are a number of spots nearby to shop and eat. Lovely. This city park is located on the corner of Mimosa Boulevard and Park Square Court. The Roswell…read moreVisitors Center is across the street as well as The Roswell Mill Club and Old Mill Park. It was built by Roswell King-one of the founding members of the city. When Theodore Roosevelt came through in 1906 to visit his mother Martha "Mittie" Bulloch Roosevelt's childhood home town-a bandstand was erected in honor of his visit....here I thought that structure was gazebo...nope...it's a bandstand. (Mittie Bulloch Roosevelt's father, James was one of the 6 founding members of Roswell. In fact Mittie married Roosevelt Sr. at Bulloch hall not far from here and is rumored to be Margaret Mitchell's inspiration for Scarlett O'Hara's Gone With The Wind character.) The park itself has a large water fountain with plenty of comfortable benches to sit and enjoy the scenery. The grass is well maintained for an outdoor picnic and or a game of frisbee. There is even a Little Free Library if you fancy a little light reading. Plus there are plenty of free street parking all around you. It's a great place to unplug and just enjoy being with friends and family....check it out.
