Great quality and care for the patients at Marin Post Acute! The physical therapists and staff were excellent. They helped me to heal from a broken femur by gaining strength and confidence everyday during my 2 1/2 month recovery. The PT gym has all the equipment necessary to make you stronger and better. The nursing staff always gave me full attention and care, and stayed on top of my medication schedule 100%. So kind and super efficient! Also, the management responded promptly to my every needs. My father was in Marin Post Acute for approximately 70 days. The nursing staff was very kind and attentive. His vitals were checked three times a day and prescribed medicines were distributed accordingly. The food was good, the administrative staff made the paperwork very easy. The rehabilitation department was well run, and very beneficial. My father was very pleased with his stay, and I was comforted knowing he was being well taken care of. My first experience here was trying to get someone to answer the phone, I called three times and finally got someone who was mumbling and talking to another person at the same time. I got a little information, but nothing concrete. I was told that I needed to go meet my loved one there after they were transferred from the hospital, yet no one could tell me a time. It was very frustrating. From the moment I walked in, the staff were not helpful or friendly, and the strong, pungent scent of what smelled like those blue disinfectant disks in urinals permeated my nostrils, made my throat hurt and my eyes burn. It was a little too late to say no to transferring a loved one here. Once I managed to find the front desk, I stood there waiting for one of the three people to greet me or even look at me, not one of them did. I finally said "Excuse me, are you able to assist me," and I got a response "I'm listening" with no eye contact or even a glance up at me. I explained why I was there and he motioned to go a specific way. I found all of the interactions very rushed and unprofessional. That was day one! I located my loved ones room. There was no staff to greet her, after about twenty minutes a lady came in and was rushing me to sign "paperwork" on an iPad. The welcome bag was a nice touch. Over the 13 days that my loved one was there staff did not communicate with me or other family members, unless I tracked someone down. The interaction with most staff was rushed and I felt brushed off. Four days prior to me asking to remove my loved one from the facility a doctor did call me, because three days before that I insisted that they check my loved one for a UTI. That was the only discussion that I felt heard. The doctor was very informative and ordered a mobile scan for my loved one and then no one provided results to me. After multiple discussions with family members about the lack of communication and unprofessionalism, we decided to bring our loved one home. This facility is not equipped for memory care. The windows are old, the screens don't fit properly, the blinds are dusty, old and don't raise. There are areas that need repairs. This building is neglected. Their website states that we are able to send e-cards and the staff will deliver them to the residents. That's a lie. My loved one never got any of them, and when I inquired about it at the front desk, the man had never heard of this, the social worker also didn't know about it. Why have that on the website and then staff is clueless!? The director didn't answer my email and does not have a voicemail. There is so much that was not great here. I also had to ask four days in a row for my loved one to have a shower. Gosh, there's so much to complain about, so I'll stop here. EDIT: The two stars are for Nancy; because every night that she was there, we were greeted why a smile and light hearted conversation! Nancy also stopped someone from visiting our loved one when we said that he was not allowed to visit. Nancy deserves a raise. read more

Air freshener levels are toxic and you can smell it from outside the facility. I saw a guy go into cardiac arrest and die the day they deployed the scent bomb in the lobby. Not sure why that's legal since the fragrances contain VOCs and endocrine disruptors. I met more than one nurse who couldn't speak or understand English- like I couldn't communicate with them about my mother's needs. She has dementia and if I can't get her needs communicated to the staff, she certainly won't be able to. Mom was in a dirty little room with a nice terminal cancer patient whose stuffed animal was stolen while she was in hospice. Not very nice. My mom was sent there from Marin General for "rehab" but she needed rehab more when she left the facility than when she got there- they left her in bed nearly 24 hours a day. Horrible. This whole thing is a racket. Memory care is happy to have her sent there because we are still paying for the memory care facility but they don't have to deal with her while she is at Marin Post Acute. read more

Just a few updates, I'm too tired to even go into all the horrific details. April 2026. Reaching out to the business office in good faith (no response to voicemail or email) resulted in a threatening letter with the wrong total amount owed, which does not reflect not only the most recent payment, (letter dated the same day) which I sent the RECEIPT FOR but another one three weeks prior. I'm forced to wonder if there's ANY department there doesn't have issues. BTW the letter is signed with a title but no name. Caused $1760 in uncovered hospital bills due to neglect and then does this? February 2026. There's a lot to note but one thing is they have blocked me from the Facebook page as well as Tiburon Hills, the sister facility under the same administration. Many hours where phone or call lights audible signal will not be heard because nobody is at the nursing station and they won't give them cordless phones because it's distracting. If he's an outside provider interacting while visiting why does anyone even think that's meaningful? look at ALL the photos, quite the contrast between the "glam" ones obviously posted by the facility and the reality some concerned people posted, even if they are dated. 3 nurses questioned did not mind a respirator unit being placed ON THE FLOOR. Recently I spent five weeks at the Marin Post Acute rehabilitation center due to a total knee replacement surgery. If you or anyone you know needs a rehabilitation facility in Marin, this is the place to go. Let me tell you why. Everybody that works here is caring, very kind, attentive, and competent. When you enter the facility, you can see how clean it is, so are the rooms thanks to a great Housekeeping team. The Physical therapy and Occupational therapy team rocks! Excellent therapy sessions-the best- and excellent therapists. The Social Services team offers numerous interesting activities to choose from! The Nursing team and the assistants are awesome! Amazing! Very kind and competent. All my medical needs were handled daily as well as at night. I felt really taken care of and could relax knowing I was in good hands. It also helped that, due to my insurance, I was placed in a private room. I hope this review helps you in your decision when you need a rehabilitation facility. They are the best! read more

I helped my mother choose Marin Post Acute because their website shows bright, upgraded rooms that look private and comfortable. Unfortunately, the reality for most patients (especially Kaiser patients) is very different. The room my mom was assigned had: - Old, broken crank windows that barely open or close -- while the facility's conference room has brand-new windows. - No air conditioning in patient rooms unless you are private pay. West-facing rooms become extremely hot in the afternoon, and even staff acknowledge that one side of the building can be unbearable. No fan was provided despite the poor ventilation. - Broken blinds and curtain hooks, some missing entirely. - A side table with outlets not plugged in. - A bedside light that can't be relied upon because the wall switch is frequently turned off. - No visitor chair unless we specifically asked. Beyond the physical environment, I was especially concerned about the therapy care. My mother has a history of a pathological bone break, yet the physical therapy team failed to notice that her gait was wrong and causing pain on her unaffected side. Instead of adjusting, they kept pushing her, which was unsafe and inappropriate. What makes this harder to accept is the clear divide between private-pay rooms vs. Kaiser patient rooms. The upgraded rooms shown on their website appear to be reserved for private-pay patients, while others are placed in outdated, poorly maintained rooms that look nothing like what is advertised. To me, that feels misleading at best. The staff we interacted with were polite, but the facility itself is not maintained or managed in a way that reflects the image they present online. Families making important care decisions deserve honesty and transparency about the actual living conditions. If you are considering Marin Post Acute, I recommend you insist on seeing the exact room your loved one will be placed in and clarify whether air conditioning, fans, or basic maintenance are included -- because the reality may be very different from the marketing materials. read more

They say first impressions are everything and wow isn't that the truth! My previous post from this evening indicated that I am looking for a rehab for my mom while she heals with a broken arm. I had just left a very disappointing encounter at professional post acute, nothing professional about that. So when I just walked in the door of Marin postacute I was greeted by Stephan with a hello a welcome and a friendly smile ! Even though I had just dropped in and I didn't have high expectations of seeing much of the facility, he gave me an impromptu and cheerful tour ! The facility is beautifully clean. I hate to call it a facility but when you enter it almost feels like the entrance of a hotel with really well kept furnishing's and shiny floors, very clean. I get the feeling that they are attentive and very much concentrating on physical therapy and rehabbing the patients. This was my third stop this evening and the third times a charm to use another pun. I think I could feel totally comfortable with my mom coming here . read more

I chose this place because it looked like a breath of fresh air after touring the other options. It was aesthetically pleasing and opportunity for private room. Someone was there when I arrived to give me a tour right away. They got that part down to get you in and get the insurance money. Once your in and they got you the hell starts if you truly need skilled care and are not strong enough to survive the abuse, if you only need some physical or occupational , speech therapy, those services are good. My brother spent time there after a stroke and heart attack, they screwed up his meds every day. If I asked what his blood pressure was and what meds he got, no one could tell me. They would send 4 different people in saying I don't know I don't know how to see it. The computer won't let me see, I don't know how to find it, let me get the person in charge, oh they are on break sorry I'm agency I don't work here. read more

This is an excellent skilled nursing facility where I only use because the other places do not give quality care or communicate ! Ana Benitez is the social worker! I have been dealing with Marin Post Acute with Ana for almost 2 years and the constant excellent quality of care which she goes beyond with quality care for the patients which is rare! I call and visit weekly and always have someone who picks up the phone to either speak to Ana or leave a message! The staff at Marin Post Acute are hard working and friendly always showing care for the patients has been my experience ! My father was admitted here for the final stage of his life. This place nearly saved my life at a time I was at such a loss for help and descending into a pretty dark and hopeless space. From day one, the admissions staff was professional and compassionate. I had visited five or six skilled nursing facilities in desperation to move my father from an assisted living facility. Either none could provide a hospice move-in, or the facility was just not an appealing option (see my review for Professional Post Acute Center). Angie of admissions was incredible. She was literally my angel from heaven and accepted my father within days of my showing up there out of the blue. Romi, the marketing director, was also wonderful; kind, professional, and prompt communication. I cannot say enough for the staff at MPA. They are conscientious, helpful, kind and SUPER hard-working. Nobody lallygags around, is ever on their phones, or seems to ignore their duties like many other places I observed. These people work HARD and constantly. Gina on the 2nd floor was the most incredible CNA/care person I have had the pleasure of knowing out of five facilities my father lived in; I honestly don't know what I'd have done without her. She arranged her schedule specifically to shower my father herself twice a week when other facilities neglected to do so at ALL much of the time. I was even showering my father myself at his last place, on top of paying $10k/month! I can cry when I think about how kind and helpful Gina was. She literally made my life bearable. Love her. When my father passed, the handful of staff on duty touched my heart deeply. They all came to give me hugs and genuine heartfelt condolences, some even with tears. I will never forget their incredible kindness. There are really only two issues that prompted me to reduce my rating by one star. One (no reflection on the care staff whatsoever) is a huge gripe with consistent frustrations getting through to them by phone. They need a better phone system! Front desk frequently no answer and no option for connecting to any extensions. Getting connected with the second floor was largely unsuccessful and always frustrating. The only other "complaint" I have is, though they are all quite busy at all times, they are supposed to check and change resident's incontinence undergarments every two hours, they often fell short of this schedule. I would definitely recommend this facility for short or long term skilled nursing residency. I am eternally grateful for them. read more

My mom was sent to this place from Kaiser. Horrible! No one can transfer phone calls to the room. Brought her walker to her room and it was stolen. They don't return calls My brother picked her up. Gave her a wheelchair with no legs and no walker when hers was stolen. No calls returned. My mother said she laid in bed wet and the nurse yelled at her They sent her home without the proper equipment . Professional caregivers will not help her without the proper equipment. My friend was there for 4 days, there was 1/2 inch black dust on the filters located on each side of the oxygen machine clogging the filters, everything in the room was broken, the shades were broken, the light switch was broken. There were no doctors available at night or on weekends, and we had to wait til a scheduled Monday appointment, for hospice. Terrible. read more

Understaffed and overworked personnel... No rehab that I've seen so far has enough staff to properly care for patients. For the most part they did what they could with few resources. Jen, SNF Care Coordinator, was a champion in helping us navigate the oftentimes confusing medical system. She went above and beyond to make sure our family member was getting better care. California standards for care must be updated! I was happy when my family member was released and we could get him to better care in Sonoma County. read more

Good people make a good place. We encountered many of these people at Marin Post Acute making a positive difference for my sister on her very difficult road Home. My sister suffered from brain tumors that took her sight and eventually her life. Her care at the facility was not perfect. Overall, they were professional and did a hard job satisfactorily. The people that stood out were Judith who at the beginning of a bumpy start asked me, "What can I do to help your sister?" I asked that she be close to a bathroom because she was blind, and she always was located by one. Jessica and Stephon from the Activities department made sure when my sister could no longer hold or dial a phone still spoke to me every week. We scheduled it on Mondays before lunch. This turned out to be very important. At times when there was trouble with phones Stephon, the Director, arranged for Jessica to use his cell phone so the calls could still happen. Shirley was honest called to report finding cash in my sister's dirty laundry and secured it so that no one would steal it. She ended up leaving the facility and her replacement located it and made certain it was returned to family after my sister's passing. Lilyvette Escobedo, Director of Social Services on the second floor, was a game-changer for the better in my sister's care and a true comfort at the end of my sister's life. She responded to my emails in a timely manner and addressed ALL my concerns and requests. One example of many, was her having my sister's nails trimmed as needed, a service Acute provides. My sister had been scratching herself and the job of trimming her nails had been a 'hole' in her care. Although, a very kind CNA, who had a special needs child of her own, occasionally trimmed them for her. The staff worked reasonably with us and our sister's desires with flexibly and creatively. It's important to stay involved and work realistically with the staff on behalf of your loved ones and stand up for them, too, when needed. If neglect or a bad incident happens report it immediately and work towards a solution with them. I suggest using email and a call, as well as, keeping a record of events good and bad on a calendar. Thirty minutes before my sisters death our youngest sister, Amy, felt impressed to call her thinking our sister could hear even if she could no longer speak and wanted to comfort her. A wonderful man named, Eleazar, took his own phone and ran to my sister's room and held it to my sister's ear so she could hopefully hear. A nurse was with her when she passed assuring her her family loved her. The nurse was able to tell us she died peacefully. We all live out-of-state. Our brother visited previously and said the conditions were okay. It's a large facility with many truly needy people they are hopping to take care of properly. One piece of advice is to get an outside layer of support for your loved ones. An organization called, LITA, Love is the Answer, sent a remarkable volunteer to make regular visits to see my sister. This volunteer was an extraordinary person who made a huge difference for the better as my sister's condition worsened. She even reported a rash my sister brought to her attention, because she believed it needed immediate attention. The staff followed the proper procedure in response. I recommend checking on your loved ones weekly and getting them support outside of the facility like a LITA volunteer. It's another pair of eyes to help watch out for their well-being and provide loving personal support and some happiness, which we all need throughout our entire lives. This place is a Kaiser contract. We decided to give it a try because we needed PT for a family member. You cannot leave that person here alone. They messed up the medications, tried to double-dose a timed release pill when they missed a dose, and then lied about it. Regular staff seems to agree, as these are mostly "agency people." Next, the maintenance guy got in a fight with the caregiver in the hallway for all to see. I just spent 5 minutes listening to and "agency" person talking loudly on the phone, in the hallway, saying she was suspended and was going to be fired. This is a mess. If you have a relative here, you need to be here every day and believe their complaints. If possible, go somewhere else. This is not a healing place. As an update... more mishaps with the medication. There was no management on site for two full days. I was told someone would call me. No call. I have called all of the numbers provided and no call back. I have watched person after person walk to the front desk to be told that there is no one available this weekend and it will have to wait until Monday. I waited 3 hours for the Admissions person to respond. I then got the front desk to text her and no one told her I was waiting. There are many different people involved in this incompetence. This place needs to lose their license. I am sure it requires a manager to be onsite with this many patients. I can see someone calling 911 from here for help. read more

Everyone here worked so hard to make sure I was comfortable after my hip replacement surgery. The health care professionals at Marin Post Acute work 12 hour shifts helping us build back our health. A big thank you to Romi Santos and all your team and a special mention to the incredible Physical Therapy Department who had me walking on my own within one week...Bravo! Why not 5 STARS?...Lack of medical leadership. In my opinion, there is an urgent need to have a "Charge Nurse" on every shift. A charge nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who leads a nursing unit during a shift or specific period; they have typically gone through additional training and experience to gain deep leadership abilities and have strong well tested clinical and managerial skills. I have a friend staying here and this review is based on my attempts to reach him by phone. I'll update the review after I visit him today or tomorrow. Yesterday, when I tried to call him, I was cut off twice. I called a total of four times and the staff were unable to connect me to his room (he doesn't have a cell phone.) The main person I spoke to had such a heavy accent that I was mostly unable to understand her. This went on for about 15 minutes. I finally gave up after leaving my number. About half an hour later, my friend (the patient) called me back with the help of a staff member. This morning (9:20am) I've tried twice to call and there is NO ANSWER! I let the phone ring for almost three minutes and finally gave up. UPDATE: I tried again at 9:40 and someone did answer and connected me. read more

I have been hospitalized numerous times, and been in skilled nursing institutions more than I like to admit. When first arriving I was, once again, unhappy to be there. This is my first experience at this location and after nearly 4 weeks I am blown away. Not only is the staff friendly and caring their attention to detail is remarkable. I never felt. belittled or unaccepted in any way. Over the last number of weeks not only has my strength been restored, but my dignity and self-confidence have been reestablished beyond belief. The nursing staff, the certified nursing assistants, the physical and occupational therapy teams accurately assessed my needs, and properly and professionally made them all work. Upon leaving I felt as if I was being deprived of some very good friends. The food and menu selections are unparalleled in, virtually, any institutional setting. Even the presentation of every meal is of high restaurant quality. The food has never been overcooked, undercooked, or tasteless. Even the vegetables are cooked al dente. I would dare to put the output of the kitchen up against any moderately priced restaurant in Marin County. Sounds too weird to be true, however, it seems to be the finest place to be, in an, uncomfortable situation that I have found in my 73 years of life. Thank God there are still quality, caring places like this, for, many unfortunate situation's. Schedule a visit and see for yourself. P.S. In early 2021 I spent one month as an in-patient at Marin Post Acute. As I was approaching my 70th birthday I began falling down without warning. My gait was steady, but not steady enough. Had to call the EMT's to peel me off my garage floor -- twice ! I spent two weeks in the hospital being worked up. Final verdict: I had Peripheral Neuropathy. Marin Post Acute was the next stop. I was there exactly one month. I should have thought about going on Yelp* sooner, but I thought Yelp* did restaurants and plumbers, not rehab hospitals. A friend let me know Marin Post Acute did have several reviews already. So this is mine: I could not have received better care anywhere. MPA's staff was professional, friendly and extremely caring. I did note there were a few Yelp* reviews that were less than complimentary. I figure it's just the nature of the business. Clients are in semi-good to bad shape to begin with. Relatives, especially adult children and siblings, are tough graders. I was very clear with my middle-aged son when he came to visit that the people who were caring for me were doing an excellent job and I loved them all. For any need they were always there to help.. During my stay Physical and Occupational Therapists always checked in hours prior to a scheduled appointment during the day to see if I was up to doing therapy sessions. They were always there on time. RNs there great. They, too had their schedule of checking vitals, injections and blood draws. Always like clockwork. Regardless the reason for the contact I always looked forward to seeing every single one of them. CNAs at Marin Post Acute is yet another stellar group of professionals. My familiarity with the business at 234 North San Pedro Rd goes back 25 years. The minute I stepped into the main entrance with my son in March last year I was blown away by the cleanliness and airy coolness of a very healthy feel. 25 years ago I was a bookkeeper who worked at street level and would go into the main part of the facility was often stuffy and dank. It was a pleasure to walk into this place. It definitely has the clean, fresh air of a place for healing. I wish I had taken notes and written down everyone's name. CNA Elizabeth you would know who, among your associates were there during my stay. PTs Cesar and Pat with OT Elizabeth help get me on my feet. While I was there the dietary and custodial staff were just like clockwork as well. Same kind, hardworking people all around. My appreciation and gratitude is forever. ethan, this is a compliment to your facility. from the minute we arrived by ambulance from marin general we were greeting by your reception staff. then we met with ana b from unit 1 for our orientation . instead of being a scary experience we were listened to and a plan focused on recovery was developed. everyone from the coffee lady, newsletter delivery, lvn, cna, nurses, to, pt, housekeeping, food preparation and social services worked to accomplish our goal. the coordination between social services and nursing staff, doctor visits, transport, rx changes were all appropriate. a special thanks for elfren for our final night. we experienced genuine caring and affection. thank you marin post acute. read more

My first post was taken down, so I am writing again, I guess because everything was true. This place is horrible. I am not old and was there for PT (which) they are wonderful. I had to wait 1 1/2 hours (I timed it) for a cup of tea and a lot of people walked past my room without helping me or asking if I needed anything when my light was on. I shared a bathroom with a lady next door, she would scream all night and no one would help her. One of the nurses put a dirty diaper in the bathroom and it smelled so bad I could not use it. My husband took the trash can to the hallway and there was 5 young girls just standing around talking, when my husband brought the can to them they looked at him like he was crazy it smelled horrible. There was an old man walking around in a dirty diaper and I have seen others too not supervised at all. Some of the staff is wonderful and others act like they are doing you a favor. On the 3rd floor, my husband went up there by mistake and there was a helper yelling at this poor old man to get up or he was going to through him out the window (swearing at him too). So sad, that poor patient, my husband went to tell the receptionist, and nothing was done, the helpers just ignored you and I was not a high maintenance person, one of the nurses said I was so quiet and nice. The food was horrible I barely ate when I was there. I also would hear a man slamming his door in the middle of the night and no one did anything. If you are about to put your elderly parent in this facility DO NOT please. It's not a nice place to be I would never ever stay there again, thank god I don't have to, my husband came and took me out. The place also smells bad in the rooms but the lobby is very nice, it's NOT like that in the back. read more

Marin Post Acute is as good as it gets. The entire team from nursing to therapy as well as front office staff is loving and excellent at their jobs. My aunt lived at Marin Post Acute for a bit over three years.she was on MediCal and lived upstair. The facilities in places like Marin Post Acute can always be better but it's about what one would expect. that said, the staff was wonderfu. My aunt was treated with respect and had wonderful care under difficult conditions. I never met a staff person who wasn't pleasant and engaging. They are the reason for four stars. I couldn't work in that environment but I am thankful for those that can and do. read more

I posted this review of Marin Post Acute several years ago (Oct. 2019) after my mother had spent a month there. For some reason, it seems to have disappeared from Yelp. I feel so strongly about the deceptive marketing that led to our choosing Marin Post Acute and the abysmal experience my mother had there that I feel compelled to re-post it for the benefit of those seeking to read candid reviews. At the time of my original posting, I had also filed formal complaints with the California Department of Public Health Licensing & Certification; California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform; Marin Health & Human Services; and the Calif. Dept. of Justice, Office of the Attorney General Bureau of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse. Here's why: (1) INADEQUATE STAFFING. The marketing/admissions person who had given me a tour of the facility advertised that I would be able to "call any time, day or night," to talk to my mother and/or find out how she was doing. The reality turned out to be much different. At least 30-40 percent of the time when I called during regular business hours or during the early evening, the main phone line would ring endlessly and go unanswered. At other times when I got through, it was not uncommon to be put on hold for as long as 15 minutes before being patched through to my mother's room. (2) LACK OF OVERSIGHT. There isn't any one person who oversees a patient's care, or who puts together a team that might work closely and synergistically together. Consequently, the left hand often doesn't know what the right is doing -- and decisions get made that can have potentially dire consequences -- e.g., in my mother's case this involved discontinuation of important medications without consulting with family members, as well as changing the dose of other medications absent a legitimate need to do so. As a family caregiver, you have to watch them like a hawk every single day. (3) POOR COMMUNICATION, NO FOLLOW-THROUGH. From the beginning of my mother's stay at Marin Post Acute, I had a lot of questions, including what milestones my mother might need to achieve in order to be discharged. I never got an answer to those questions. The decision to take her out of Marin Post Acute was my decision alone, absent any input from the staff or physicians. It was a decision I made based on the fact that she was miserable there, and based on my lack of trust and confidence in the care she was receiving. As a family member/caregiver, I was shocked by the Marin Post Acute experience. It was an experience with an organization that is poorly organized and poorly run, to the great detriment of the people it aims to serve, who depend on the services they receive to either get back on their feet or fail. As a patient at Marin Post Acute, my mother complained bitterly about the lack of cleanliness, especially of the bathroom; the mush she was served three meals a day (I never could get an answer to the question of why she was put on a mechanical soft diet); the fact that the caregivers would serve dinner at 4:00 and then try to put everyone "to bed" by 4:30; the fact that the caregivers handled her "roughly." These things did not contribute in a positive way to her well-being. I provided these comments and more to the administrator of Marin Post Acute in the spirit of improving conditions for current and future patients at the facility. I didn't receive any response. For many patients, the services of Marin Post Acute are matters of life or death. I feel lucky to have gotten my mother out of there alive. read more

It has taken me nearly 4 months to be able to write this review because of how traumatic it was for my sister and I to witness what happened to our mother while she was in Marin Post Acute. It is painful to even think about still but I have to write this to try and help as many people as possible avoid having the same thing happen to their loved ones that happened to my mother. Every detail in my review is based on 100% fact backed with evidence and/or witnessed first-hand by myself. During the approximately one year my mother was in Marin Post Acute (MPA) her condition relatively the same. Only slight declines in her condition the entire time until one day when it had changed immensely. Leading up to that day my mother had a series of falls, every one of them occurring late at night. When I contacted MPA to express concern I was told it was my mother's fault for getting up at night and walking around. I was told they didn't have staff to keep an eye on her. Her last fall landed her in the Kaiser ER where she received 22 stitches in her forehead. The nurse reported they found her on the ground in a pool of blood and had no idea how long she had been there. We got a call one day to tell us that my mother had not eaten in 3 days and that her condition appeared to be declining. I went the next day to see her and she was in bed clenching the side rail, unable to communicate and would scream anytime anyone got near her. I visited her at least once a week for a year before that day and always hugged her and put my arm around her. Something happened that caused my mother to be in a state of post traumatic stress. I frantically questioned staff to find out what happened and got no answers and they downplayed the whole situation. They disregarded my requests to get the doctor there to evaluate her. They managed to get the nurse practitioner Susan to see her and she told me that my mother seemed to be doing better than the day before. I was appalled that Susan had no concern and refused to take her to the hospital. I had to call 911 myself to get her to the hospital where she was treated for severe dehydration. My mothers roommate told me that two men came in during the night and raped my mother and this is why she was in that condition. I dismissed the claim because it was so extreme. The next day we got a call from the MPA director Ethan Flake who told us the lab found sperm in my mother's UTI test. Ethan was baffled and concerned. We called the police to file a report. It took the police hours to get to the facility to investigate and in that time Ethan suddenly changed his story stating the lab made a mistake and they didn't find sperm. The police did not have enough evidence to persue the investigation without the lab report and the sample had mysteriously been discarded so there was no way to verify any lab tests. My mothers Kaiser doctor was out with covid at this time but the day before the lab report we spoke to the doctor on the phone to explain the condition and she stated it wasn't normal and something certainly happened to cause the change in my mothers condition. We pressed Ethan for more answers as how this could happen and his answers were inconsistent, very suspect and out right lies at times. My mother's doctor also changed her story claiming she had never said something happened to cause my mothers condition. She was outright lying to us. It was obvious the situation was being covered up. There were no cameras anywhere in the entire area of near my mothers room to help prove something bad happened. As the days went on my mother still would not eat anything or talk at all. I spent the majority of every day from then on at MPA next to my mother. In that time I witnessed a staff member flipping my mom around like a dead fish to change the sheets while my mother screamed like she was being murderd. I literally through myself in between my mother and the lady abusing my mother and the lady yelled at me saying that is how they have to do it because my mother wouldn't get out of bed. I reported to Ethan who dismissed it saying he saw my mother scream in the activities room a couple of times and that's just what she did. After that they made me wait all the way across the facility when they did a bed change and I could still hear my mother screaming from several hundred yards away. I tracked nearly every single meal with photo proof that my mother was still not eating and MPA refused to even send a doctor to see her. She was dying and suffering. I asked Ethan for a copy of my mothers food intake records because I wanted to see how far he would cover up what was happening. He said he would get them to me the next morning. I got them 3 days later and they were falsified. Legal action is underway and people will be held responsible. Ethan Flake belongs in jail. My mother suffered and died 11 days after she was raped and not one doctor ever came to see her in that time. read more

I should not even give this place 1star. My friend has been ignored most of the time. He had major back surgery and needed many therapies. COVID has made it impossible to visit so you need to rely on information from nurses. Good luck trying to get a nurse on the phone and even when you are on the call list you get little to none. My friend ended up with 3 infections, not breathing, and was near death when he had to be resuscitated and sent to Marin General. Do not send your loved ones to this place!!!! read more

I have regularly visited the parent of a close friend at Marin Post Acute. The patient suffers from dementia and cannot report on their care. I have found them numerous times only partially dressed. Their dirty clothing is routinely soiled with excrement. Over a period of several months, I took the patient by wheelchair into an outside patio area. There was a portable potty there during the entire summer as if that space was additional storage. The dumpsters overflow, creating the appearance of neglect. When alerted about the patient's condition, the staff is attentive and promptly addresses any issues. They seem sincere and caring. I can only guess that there are management or patient load issues that prevent the type of attention required and paid for. If you have the ability to compare staffing ratios and patient outcomes, I suggest that you carefully consider that before admitting a patient to this facility. read more
