I walked in fairly certain I was about to spend more money for the same haircut I get from Sportclips, but was pleasantly surprised at the whole experience. At the front I was greeted and checked in and immediately offered an ice cold beer which garners points in my book. Emi came over and introduced herself and showed me the changing room where you get to leave your shirt on a hanger and wear one of their t-shirts during the haircut so you don't leave being microneedled by tiny hair clippings. Haircut started with a detailed back and forth about my hair and what I was looking for which felt better than the usual "what you want" from the budget shops. Emi offered what she called a "moment of relaxation" where she used essential oil and gives you a shoulder and neck massage before starting the haircut. 10/10 highly recommend doing this it feels great and doesn't cost extra. The actual haircut was very good, like I said I've never really cared about how my hair looked as long as it's not in my face, but I was quite impressed. It was very sharp, technically perfect, and now I'm spoiled by this whole thing. I can't recommend Emi and this shop enough, every man should give this a shot, even if you're like i was and thought this kind of thing was unnecessary. One thing that's important to note is that this is a primarily Mandarin speaking business and I have to speak Mandarin with the majority of the workers here, but they do have English speaking stylists as well. They're also seems to be some other hairstyles who rent a chair here and only come here occasionally, but the full-time staff is all Mandarin speaking. Overall the salon itself is quite modern and chic, and there's always good music playing here. Highly recommend if you are Asian and looking for a Asian hair eccentric salon, which can be pretty hard to come by outside of the Southern California area.

He was overall very nice and the appointment was overall fine. He provided some tips and taught me how to style my hair which I appreciated. The layered cut that I got was not a layered cut I'm used to. I won't deny there were layers but I'm used to having a V-shaped/U-shaped layered cut. After a few days I noticed the back was very ... blunt and "straight" . Additionally, my "sideburn" pieces were extremely uneven. All the stylists I've been to in the past have pulled the hair to the front to ensure evenness, Jay did not. I had left a review on his Booksy page with a photo which he responded and suggested hair can shift at home but this has nothing to do with hair shifting.. he did offer to refine it but Irvine is quite a drive for me and I figured it just wasn't worth it. Also.. the pricing is just WILD. He is now charging $155 for a layered cut with blowout. There are other stylists in the industry who charge WAY less for what you're getting (I know of at least one off the top of my head who has 20+ years of experience and only charges $95 for a haircut+blowout).
