I had a terrible experience at A Plus Hair Salon with Kevin. I came in for a root touch-up and a light trim, and even brought my own hair color. Although he protected my forehead, he did not properly protect my ears. The dye ran down the right side of my face, all over my neck, and my ears were still stained black even after my hair was washed. The whole coloring process felt very unprofessional, so I no longer felt comfortable letting him cut my hair and decided not to get the trim. I did not believe at first but needed a haircut so I said okay. They were very accommodating. I was an hour late due to my dentist taking forever but they said okay to it! I got a random hairstylist right when I walked in. We talked about what I wanted (the bangs!) and what other things he suggest I should have as long as i keep the length of my hair. It turned out so amazing! He took his time to cut my hair, washed my hair, and blow dried it! It was an even cut. I did not expect this cut to turn out so well. First time and definitely would come back. I usually don't like haircut because they don't turn out good and waste of my $40+ but this was well spent $65! 100% would come back. I booked an appointment with Jay. I found him through TikTok/Instagram .. and honestly wasn't what I expected. I booked for a layered haircut (which at the time was $105). He was overall very nice and the appointment was overall fine. He provided some tips and taught me how to style my hair which I appreciated. The layered cut that I got was not a layered cut I'm used to. I won't deny there were layers but I'm used to having a V-shaped/U-shaped layered cut. After a few days I noticed the back was very ... blunt and "straight" . Additionally, my "sideburn" pieces were extremely uneven. All the stylists I've been to in the past have pulled the hair to the front to ensure evenness, Jay did not. I had left a review on his Booksy page with a photo which he responded and suggested hair can shift at home but this has nothing to do with hair shifting.. he did offer to refine it but Irvine is quite a drive for me and I figured it just wasn't worth it. Also.. the pricing is just WILD. He is now charging $155 for a layered cut with blowout. There are other stylists in the industry who charge WAY less for what you're getting (I know of at least one off the top of my head who has 20+ years of experience and only charges $95 for a haircut+blowout). read more

I've been coming to the salon every month for around 2 years now. My hair stylist's name is Vic, and he's always done a great job with my hair and clearly has a good command of what Styles look good on what head shape and so forth. Over the course the last few years he has gotten increasingly difficult to book with because he is so popular and has so many clients at this point. However he always makes time for me and I really appreciate that. One thing that's important to note is that this is a primarily Mandarin speaking business and I have to speak Mandarin with the majority of the workers here, but they do have English speaking stylists as well. They're also seems to be some other hairstyles who rent a chair here and only come here occasionally, but the full-time staff is all Mandarin speaking. Overall the salon itself is quite modern and chic, and there's always good music playing here. Highly recommend if you are Asian and looking for a Asian hair eccentric salon, which can be pretty hard to come by outside of the Southern California area. read more

I have been a client at A+ Salon since November 2024. I found Vic (one of their hair stylists) through Red Note. During my most recent visit, I received highlights, which took approximately 6-7 hours due to my dark hair. The results were stunning, and I was absolutely thrilled with my new hair color (please see the before and after photos). Vic is not only incredibly friendly but also highly knowledgeable. He has been working as a hairstylist for many years. I provided him with a photo of the hair color I desired, and he took the time to explain how my hair would look with various highlight styles. He ensured that I was fully on board with his approach before proceeding. Vic demonstrated a deep understanding of my needs, and I would say that he is one of the best hairstylists I have ever had. I wanted to keep the length, trim my dead ends- I asked for curtain bangs and face framing layers. There's not a lot of dimension/layers in the back like what I wanted but the cut is good enough for me. The shampoo process was the best lol you get a head massage during the wash. I came to fix my hair for my birthday. I wanted a golden light brown ended up dark brown hair which was not what I asked for. When I told the guy I didn't like my hair he just laughed at me. When trying to speak with management they do not to accommodate or fix the situation. I won't be coming back here. You can go to other salons for better service and price. Not worth it. My wife started coming to A+ Salon to get her hair cut about a year or so ago, she said that they also have services here for men, after seeing her get her trim from A+ I figured what the hell they're close by why not give it a try. Normally I would drive all the way from Irvine to Garden Grove to go to my regular place, but that was a good part of my morning wasted going back and forth through traffic. I decided to schedule an appointment with A+ for a haircut for my son and I on the same day, they were able to fit us in on a weekend which was great as my work schedule has been extremely busy so I appreciated they were able to work us in at a convenient time that worked for me. Once there I described what kind of haircut I wanted to Vic, and also pulled a picture from a previous haircut, he was able to cut it the way I want for me and my boy. They were able to cut a nice fade which I truly liked, and make minor adjustments along the way until I was satisfied. The Salon itself is very spacious, brightly lit, and most importantly clean. There are also these really cool statue things around that gave it a nice vibe. Make sure to say hi to the owner if you drop in, my wife introduced him to me, saying that he's always around and he's an extremely friendly gentleman. read more

I have been going to this salon for a while. I originally found them through the Chinese app Xiao Hong Shu, and the salon owner used to do my color every month. However, he became very busy and often answered phone calls during my appointment. He would also switch people two or three times while doing my color, which I really didn't like. I prefer to stay with one person who understands my hair and color history. Because of this, I decided to switch to Will. The first time with Will was okay, the second time was fine, but the third visit was terrible. I went for a root touch-up, and he recommended a $120 scalp treatment. I agreed to try it if he could do it well, but it turned out to be a bad experience. He brought out a machine but didn't know how to use it--someone else had to help him start it. He only worked for a few minutes, mostly touching my hair instead of my scalp, so I asked him to stop. When I asked if he had done scalp treatments before, he said he didn't really have much experience with scalp treatments. That made me very uncomfortable, especially since he was charging extra for it. He also seemed more interested in selling expensive services than focusing on doing a good job. On top of that, the towel he used on my head smelled terrible. When I asked him why, he said they washed towels last night but maybe they didn't dry completely. That's not acceptable for a professional salon. I also saw another stylist finish with a customer and hang a used cape (coat) on a clean area. When I asked if they wash the cape after each client, he didn't answer clearly. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. The hygiene and service quality made me feel uncomfortable, and I won't be returning. read more
