My son is new to BMX racing at Manzanita Park in Prunedale, butMarina Cycle is always there volunteering and helping all the riders young or old so we went to their shop to buy some gear. To my surprise they did not try to up sale us on anything and they had everything in stock. The next time we needed some new tires we went to Marina Cycle but they were not open so we drove to Valley Bikes in Salinas. I was in a bit of a hurry to leave town so I had Valley Bike install the new tires. The next day when riding my wheel fell off my bike!!! Needless to say I will take my business back to Marina Cycle where problems like that never happen. ** Definitely recommend calling before going there as they are not always open. read more

Went to this shop to get my son geared-up for BMX camp. Steve was super friendly and helpful! We had a long list of required items for camp and he had most of them in stock, and what he did not have, he ordered and it was there in a couple of days. Personally, I prefer to support local businesses and work with people who are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the products they sell, Steve is both. Just picked up my wife's new bike, assembled by the very nice gentleman at Marina Cycle and Skate. Great job of assembly. The gentleman made sure we had all the papers which went with the bike. This is a great place. I read the review where they guy wasn't friendly. Not my experience at all. They guy is very welcoming and very knowledgable. I dropped my Specialized mountain bike for a service and wow, it now feels like a new bike! What's more, the price was fantastic. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this place, I shall certainly be going there for all my bike needs. read more

The shop's owner is not a very welcoming person. Not enthusiastic as the other review says. He can fix a bike but he doesnt put any effort in befriending nor even trying to sell something. As a locales place in this day of age especially with rei around the corner, you have to be warm welcoming to all customers if you want people to come around and rely on your shop. Im so sad to say this is not a very good locals place. I have so many friends at rei but this owner of a local shop is not so friendly. read more

Just got back from Marina Cycle & Skate. I was worried my brakes needed to be bled (a service that cost me $75 elsewhere. My man looked at the brakes, said that they didn't need service, and showed me why. Then said that if I ended up needing them bled in the future, he'd charge me less than $30. Sticking with Marina from now on. read more

Stopped in with an emergency spoke replacement while riding to San Diego. The service was amazing. Replaced the spoke tried the wheel and provided a few extra spokes for the road. 20 minutes for only $22. Simply awesome. read more

Great little store with nice service! Prices are on the high side but worth keeping it local. I agree with another reviewer, the hours aren't as posted which is annoying! But he really knows bikes and treats us right. I wish he'd coordinate more with the City and/or the University to generate more bike-vibe in Marina. But he seems content to just ride the wave while his kids are into it. read more

The owner is a good mechanic, but has zero customer service skills.

The guy who works there (Steve, I am guessing from the last review) is really nice. We came in with a flat tire and though he was busy he took time to talk to us. He gave us advice about how to reduce back pain on a long ride and other tips for trekking the Monterey Bay Coast Bike Trail to the Wharf with our daughter. He also put our new tire on and filled for us for free. Great place to go for service and information. read more

When I first purchased my bicycle they told me at REI that they would go the mile to help me get it to fit to my specifications. And so began the journey of many trips back and forth to the store because my right leg is handicap and has limited motion. They took components off of my old bike and made them fit on the new bike and it was very professional the way it was done :-) :-) . Today I made the final trip to the storeTo correct the fitment of my newly extended seat post into the frame of the bike. As usual they were successful in their efforts and I proceeded to have a very enjoyable and comfortable ride. I must say these guys are really good not only do they know their stuff about bicycles but their interpersonal skills truly excel in that on certain occasions I was not in the best of moods and yet they took me in stride and never dropped their pace. These guys are a great team and they have made a customer in me for life. BTW my new bike is a Novara Buzz highbred and its perfect :-) :-) :-) they wouldn't even accept a tip read more

In short, the tire repair work I had done was shoddy. I was in town for the week and wanted to take my stepson's road bike out on the seaside trail. The back tire was flat and I had no tube, pump or tools so I took it in for repair. Instead of being able to help me then, I had to leave it and return in an hour. When I finally got on the trail, the same tire was flat again in 15 minutes. I called the store and the owner claimed he checked the tire out thoroughly. He said it was "thorn season" and didn't claim any liability. I went to another store that fixed the tire in 10 minutes. He found the rim tape was out of place and two spoke ends were exposed. read more
