Sean and Nico have saved my ass multiple times. I ride a moped style ebike and these guys have always helped me out with suggestions, ideas and have been transparent with me about repairs. Especially with moped style bikes, these guys never made it sound like too big of a job when all I got was negative vibes from other local stores. The mechanic here seems like a super helpful and nice guy, he was willing to take care of a quick fix on my bike right away but was interrupted by the owner who told me to come back in an hour. I said ok and returned to see they had told me they needed to do more work to my bike and up charged me a crazy amount for a derailer hangar adjustment. My daughter's bike sat unrepair for 3 weeks. Dropped off bike on 6/6/20 and was told by owner (William) bike would be done in a week. Was given run around and unable to locate my bike in the shop. Rooster wheels phone is always a busy signal and can't seem to get in contact with anyone on updates. (Check my review on Rooster Wheels page for more details) I picked up my bike today 6/27/20 from Rooster and of course it is still not fixed. Brought my bike to Peninsula Bikes. I get an upfront answer my bike will be fixed in an hour. Picked up my bike 430pm. I have no experience in bikes and knowledge of bike shops. Just want to fix my daughters bike. Explain my frustration of what I went through and thankful and happy bike is fixed. Peninsula didn't charge me. Got awesome help and recommendations for getting a hitch on my van so that I can hook up a bike rack for my girls bikes. THANK YOU!! My bicycle needed a repair, so, on the recommendation of a friend, I took it to Peninsula Bike Works. They were able to care of the issue immediately and quite reasonably (they had the part in stock), so I left the bike with them overnight for a general tune-up. Legit! I needed specific spokes and nips, which are not available here in Australia. I was provided part number from the manufacturer and asked Peninsula Bike Works to order them for me. Sean, who obviously has quite a bit of experience, double checked the part numbers for my hub. Good thing too, because I was given the wrong part numbers from the manufacturer. Sean looked up the correct parts, ordered them in, gave them to a friend of mine of mine who was able to bring them to Australia. Looking at the consensus of the other reviews, this place delivers what is beyond expectations! I am a novice cyclists! I was in a bike accident several months back and my bike took a slightly beating, it was only 3 weeks old at that time. There was a minor deformity with the handle bar/hood? (I'm still learning the bike jargon). I brought it back to the shop that sold me my bike and asked them to look over the bike to see if any damage was done and pointed out The aesthetic unpleasing handle bar. I picked up my bike and they said everything was fine yet my handle bar was still deformed. I, not knowing any better thought it was just unfixable, took my bike home and kept on riding it. As time went on my other friends noticed it and asked how come I never fixed it, they then suggested Micah from bike works... I was actually quite intimated going here alone. Since I really do not know anything about bikes! The shop repair area is pretty spacious and clean. I asked for Micah and he was working on another bike. I brought my bike to him and he noticed the bent hood right off the bat. He then took out a small gadget and straightened it out then and there.. I was in awe! Then he said he wasn't going to charge for it... Bottom jaw dropped... I was so impressed... But now I got to think.. If this was a simple job and the other place didn't fix it I better have him tune up and look at my bike... Then I asked him questions about the different pedals since I'm using kiddie pedals and would like to be clipless.. He took the time to show me the different shoes and pedals! He answered all my questions without using bike lingo that would sound like a foreign language! When I picked up my bike, it was nice and clean.. He even hid some of my wires to make it more beautiful! Micah gave me some "cleaning/maintenance" advice. I will now come to this shop a lot less intimated and totally comfortable! I rode my bike to PBW, with only front brake functioning, to have them look at my rear wheel hydraulic brake which had worked itself loose from its mount and the disc (lost a screw). Micah was there alone busy working on something behind the counter but promptly greeted me. I showed him the rear brake situation and he assessed it was an easy fix he could do quickly while I waited, which was a pleasant surprise (I had expected to have to set up an appointment). He was pleasant to talk to while he performed the repair. Micah apparently worked for years at other local bike shops that had closed down before he opened PBW a dozen years ago, so he is very experienced. I'm glad he and Sean have their own shop. I definitely recommend PBW. It is my go-to bike shop for sure. The service only ran a few bucks but I was so happy to score such quick and professional service I told Micah to keep the change from the $20. read more

The employee was aggressive and accused me of "hanging out" at this bike shop on numerous occasions and interfering with their business by telling stories and jokes; none of which is true. Disclaimer-I know little of specific modalities in the bicycling world. I ride a realllllly old Specialized Rock Hopper, but it works, and I think this place deserves a really fantastic rating for customer service, scheduling and quality of work. I called around, scheduled an appointment and had our two bikes tuned within a day and a half. Fast, friendly, good location, good parking, and likely the cutest store mascot I've run into lately. I was in dire need of help with my bicycle. Even though he was very busy, a co-owner of Peninsula Bike Works came to my rescue. Why did I need help? I was able to change flat on my rear tire. The problem was I had turned the bicycle upside down to get the tire out. In so doing, the chain became tangled with 4 loops. Yikes! OK, so after getting my bike tuned up last week, I went for a ride in the woods this weekend, to get back into the swing of things. Unfortunately, I tried popping over a log, and ended up bending the teeth on my sprocket ring. With the chain slipping off the number two ring, I made my way out of the woods, and stopped by the closest bike shop-- Forest Hill Bikes--in Pacific Grove. First of all, the guy in the shop seemed annoyed that I even walked in. Sweaty and greasy, I explained my situation, and asked if he could help. He looked at it and said I needed a new ring. I asked if it could be bent back--he said no. I asked if it was worth a try--he said no. I asked how to fix it--he said I needed to replace it. Totally unimpressed, I rode home in 1st. So I brought the bike back to Peninsula Bike Works, explained my problem, and they said that it could probably be bent back. I ran home, got the bike, and in 5 minutes, after some tinkering and hammering, Micah had the ring all straightened out and shifting smoothly. I took it for a test ride, and it was all good. I asked Micah what I owed for the repairs, and he told me that maintenance was covered since I had it tuned up there last week. These guys are the best.
