Went in last week to buy a new bike for myself. Rob sold me on a Trek bike in blue. I picked it up today and it was perfect. I also got a helmet and some accessories. Best place to get fresh rubber (tubes/tires), tunes and really anything bike related. Searched online for weeks, was looking for a more aggressive set of tires for my mountain bike, but was not sure what would fit my bike, were my rims tubeless compatible, or was the best for this area/ my riding style. One stop in the shop with my bike and rob had a perfect set on the shelf. Could not be happier, riding has improved drastically. Also had my bike tuned, and compared to other bike shops you can feel everything was gone through and addressed. My bike rides and feels better then when I bought it new. read more

Went to this shop because I saw online they had the bike I wanted. No greeting whatsoever as we walked in and I know the guy who was helping another customer saw me. Okay, no big deal, I walk around the shop as I wait to be acknowledged and nothing. I totally get that ppl are short-staffed during the pandemic but if you're helping someone else the least you can do is acknowledge the customers that walked in. Just let them know you'll help them as soon as you can. There was a couple also waiting to be helped and didn't see them be acknowledged either (not saying it's race based but both the couple and I are Latino maybe coincidence maybe not ). I waited over 10 mins and nothing and it's not like a bike shop is self-service so I walked out. Went to another shop, Work Horse Bicycles and was immediately greeted and helped. Terrible service and downright rude. The sales person basically rolled his eyes when I asked if he could lower the seat on a bike for my son to try. Then we asked if he could take the bike for a test ride out back in the parking lot and they refused without explanation. Not sure if they just didn't want to sell us a bike or if they treat all customers this way but we will not be returning. Such a bummer because we love supporting local businesses. read more

I took my road bike in for a tune up and chain replacement. I also asked them to take a look at the brake pads for potential replacement because they had been sounding funny (safety first!).They got it done in a few days, said the brakes were just dirty & didn't need to be replaced, which I appreciated, but when I took it off my car rack to ride after picking it up, I found that my seat had not been moved back to my height. I didn't have an allen wrench with me..slightly annoying. A fellow biker told me that my seat was too high as he passed me struggling up a hill *thanks for the tip*. What has been most frustrating is that my chain has been skipping every since when I try to climb steep inclines, which has made rides a lot more ...interesting. UPDATE: My chain continued to skip on inclines, but on my last ride, the situation got spicy! My derailer completely SNAPPED OFF as I rode up Forest Ave in PG. Took it into Bay Bikes & they reported that my brakes were SMOKED from my wheel not running true & needed to be replaced immediately. I'm pretty bummed that this wasn't caught when I asked CB to take a look during my tune up. read more

Had a loose saddle bolt on a recent bike trip in Carmel and searching Yelp yielded Carmel Bicycles as one of the closest stores. Still had to ride over them hills to get there. They were not easy to find but once we did, they were extremely nice and friendly and provided the allen wrench to tighten the bolt back up. He made it even made sure to tighter it further after I tightened it. read more

I bought a used bike rack off Facebook Marketplace, but I wasn't confident that the straps would hold up. I popped into Carmel Bicycle looking for some kind of straps to further secure my bike to the car rack. A gentleman greeted me and asked me if I was looking for anything particular. I explained to him my situation. He opened a drawer and took out some self gripping velcro. He said that they come standard with the bikes, and they always keep them to recycle them, and that I could help myself to what I needed. I really like their new location near the Barnyard. The display from the front shows a lot of what they offer. They have a good selection of clothes and parts. I like that they have a selection of Trek road bikes including Madones. They also have mountain and hybrid bikes available. I would shop here rather than driving to Monterey for basic bike needs. read more

Unprofessional, unethical liars. Took my bike in after a crash they said they could have it fixed in a week. They texted me that it needed a new left shifter and that they only sell them in pairs and then quoted me an astronomical price that was actually the retail price for new shifters and calipers! I did some research and found the left shifter for sale solo and texted them this information. Got no response from them. Went in to pick up my bike the next week and wouldn't you know it they didn't even touch it! Guys like "well once you started quoting me prices of parts I figured you didn't want me to fix it". Translation, once you figured out I was trying to scam you I decided I didn't want to fix your bike. This is the type of bike shop that gives bike shops a bad name, poor customer service with a can-not-do attitude. Find another shop these guys are bad apples. read more
