I got my wedding dress here after going to/calling a million different bridal shops asking for a very specific dress! The dress I wanted was about to go out of production so I could not find any bridal store that could request it for me from the designer. This is the only bridal shop that was willing to call in a favor and help me beg for this dress! Everyone at the store is so kind and thoughtful. They really made me feel good about my decision to buy the dress and what special requests I needed to make like opening up the bust, ordering the right size, etc. They are really honest with brides and what you will need. Hi Marina Morrison Team and Specifically Sammie!!!, I have been trying on dresses, a LOT of dresses at all sorts of places here in the bay area. I think most places have been just okay or bleh, I do wish we had LA inventory - However, I think Marina Morrison has excellent dresses and designers! This was my first experience and I came full circle and ended up purchasing the most stunning dress from Mira Zwillinger here with Sam and I am extremely happy with my decision. Sammie had helped me during my first session although she was not my primary stylist she did acknowledge all the dresses I tried on and was very sweet and present in the store! - I trust her opinion. During my second fitting she was my main stylist - Yay! - super fun! If you ever try on dresses! you know that time can fly by and during my first fitting I don't think I used my time wisely. She knew exactly the order to try everything on efficiently and was super warm and friendly! We tried on the first dress I tried on at the last fitting and I'm glad she made me try it on again because the second time I put what I thought was the one on I knew it wasn't. So great she has the experience to know the order of things. Very key! with an experienced stylist. Also - for some mush - I didn't think I would cry when I tried on my dress but I did, and Sammie grabbed the Kleenex and was super sincere. I think trying on wedding dresses can be stressful and you want to feel comfortable with who you are working with. Ha! - And when in doubt if a dress comes with "wings" Just say YES! I truly can't say enough great things about my experience with Marina Morrison! I came into the wedding dress buying process with an idea of what I wanted, however I still wanted to try on a range of different types of dresses to be sure. The store has a diverse selection, from classic to trendy. The staff at Marina Morrison took plenty of time and care getting me into varying styles. It was tough to decide, but Sammie was awesome at talking me through each option--and more importantly, what made sense for my personal aesthetic. The week after I chose my dress, I had second thoughts and called the store to see if they could pause my order so I could try on one of the other contenders. Sammie accommodated me the next day with no problem. In the end, I stuck with my first choice dress. But it meant so much to me to get peace of mind. A couple months later, the designer of my dress was having a trunk show at Marina Morrison. They called me to see if I wanted schedule time to look at finishing touches. They really helped complete my wedding day look, helping me choose a gorgeous veil, pulling jewelry in to accessorize, having me walk around the store with the full outfit on, etc. The total effect is stunning! Employees are stuck up. Yes, I did end up purchasing my wedding dress here, but it was far from a magical experience, an experience every bride deserves. I'm a brown girl and when I came to pick up my dress, a beautiful white client was doing her initial try-ons with another associate. As I was in the fitting room next door, I heard the associate tell her client, "oh. Let's skip this dress for now. The girl in the next fitting room purchased this dress and we don't want to embarrass and outshine her," followed by giggles. This could have meant a lot of things, but it was just something no bride deserves to hear at their final dress pick up. I felt the same energy at my initial appointment where the associate was just not kind. I came 10 mins early and she was helping another client (another white lady) and told me to come back at my appointment time. No problem. I came back and rang the doorbell, took her about 5 mins to open the door, even though it was my appointment time and she glanced at me several times through the window, again no problem as she was still with her client. She finally let me and my family in and told us to wait as she took her time with her client, giggling and taking her time. At one point, the client asked, should I come back and finalize things? As she noticed me and my family waiting. The associate said, "oh no! No rush." I waited 30 mins past my appointment time. I get it, these things happen. However, the first thing she says to me is "what's your budget?" It wasn't until I told her I didn't have a budget as if I really loved something I'd work it out. Her attitude flipped and I was suddenly her favorite person. I'm not going to give the name of this associate, but I hope this review reaches all associates at this establishment. Yes, your boutique is beautiful, with a great selection, but be nice and kind to everyone. They are preparing for their big day and this memory will live forever with them. Anyways, I continued with this boutique, because they are the only boutique in the Bay Area that carried a certain designer I had in mind. I went here in a whim during a sample sale and walked out with my wedding dress!! Very nice boutique, but not stuffy. Amber helped me and was lovely. The only thing I didn't realize is that I bought the dress a size too small and it would need significant alterations to fit. I knew some alterations were normal but it turned out I needed another 1.5 inches added to the waist. Enter: Nora Chavez. She works under the company Synergy Apparel and she is a miracle worker. She's incredibly talented and very fairly priced. She is honest and overall a wonderful person to work with, she even tailored my bustier. Highly recommend. read more

I took some time to decide whether to write this review, as I typically don't take negative reviews lightly, as you can see from my other reviews. However, I had one of the worst bridal experiences here. Firstly, despite arriving on time, I waited for 10 minutes before my stylist acknowledged me. I then shared my interest in specific gowns, selecting four from the trunk show of the designer I had in mind. Instead of allowing me to explore further for dresses from other designers, she immediately ushered me into a room with those four gowns. Subsequently, she left me in the room, unattended, for about another 10 minutes (I timed it as I discussed the situation with my partner via text, so I have time stamps), all while she attended to another client. What compounded my disappointment was the presence of other stylists who were available and not assisting clients, all while my stylist never informed me that she was occupied with another customer. I would have been more understanding had she conveyed this information, rather than my discovering it afterward. Alternatively, I would have appreciated the opportunity to browse around the store during the wait, or at the very least, an apology for running behind schedule. Fortunately, another stylist stepped in to help me, and I genuinely preferred working with her. However, my original stylist returned. I also mentioned my interest in another gown by J. Andreatta at a different bridal shop, and my stylist made a comment implying that the dress was supposedly of lower quality compared to the one they had, even asking me for the price of that dress. While price can sometimes equate to quality, it's not always the case, and I found her remarks to be unprofessional. (Wanted to also note that the J.Andreatta dress was actually the same price as one of the Mira Zwillinger dresses I tried on at Marina Morrison). I initially tried to remain optimistic, but as I reflected on the experience the day after, my disappointment grew. Despite initially falling in love with a gown and even telling my bridesmaids and my mom that I intended to purchase it, I ultimately decided against it.I couldn't separate the dress from the negative shopping experience, as no gown is worth that level of frustrating shopping ordeal characterized by poor customer service. I'm adding one star for the stylist who stepped in while my primary stylist was absent and another for allowing me to try on accessories with the gowns, as I have a penchant for matching sets. Regrettably, these two positive aspects don't fully offset the overall disappointing experience. Edit/Update: I wanted to provide an update as the business manager reached out after seeing my review, and I appreciated her initiative. However, I've chosen to maintain my review as it still accurately represents my experience. While she suggested revisiting the store to try on other dresses and explained the understaffing issue (not all stylists are trained in all the collections), I had already decided to having a custom gown made at an atelier. Also, I don't feel inclined to return to a location that evokes negative associations. I must emphasize that, were it not for the negative encounter, I would likely have opted to purchase the Mira Zwillinger gown I adored from the trunk show. Nonetheless, I chose to invest more time and effort in multiple appointments for a custom dress due to the stark contrast in the level of customer service between this bridal salon and atelier. Despite this, I appreciate their effort in reaching out. I sincerely hope that their outreach presents an opportunity for retraining and upskilling their stylists. I am way overdue writing this review, considering I purchased my gown here over a year ago and my wedding was six months ago already! However, I did want to share my experience with purchasing my gown and doing alterations at Marina Morrison. I was very excited for my appointment at Marina Morrison when I went the first time! I had spoken with a consultant over the phone, who was extremely warm and personable, and even recommended a gorgeous, gold Liancarlo gown to me when I told her I loved gold - it ended up being my wedding dress! I loved seeing this particular consultant at the store, but honestly, I did not get that same friendly vibe from the other consultants. A few of the girls I worked with were nice enough, but it felt forced - they were a bit aloof and distant. It was less welcoming than the other salons I visited. And - we couldn't drink champagne there! (I understand why, but still sad.) That said, their dresses are GORGEOUS and I wish I could go back and try them all on again! In general, the selection of dresses at MM is so unique, beautiful, and very high end. I loved so many gowns they had - I could have picked any number of them as my own! I ordered my dress in October and it arrived by February or so! Sadly, if you do alterations there, they only do weekday appointments - difficult as I was coming from San Jose and work full time. I made it work, though, and I'm glad I did because their seamstress worked miracles. I was really unhappy with the fit of my bodice at first, and by the third appointment, it fit like a glove. All in all, I got a lovely dress and great alterations at Marina Morrison, and I would definitely recommend others go there for the unique and gorgeous selection, although pricey. I had better experiences with consultants at other salons, but it was worth it to get my beautiful gown there! read more

I came here on a rainy Friday so the store was empty except for one other person trying on dresses. I described to Katie who was my consultant what I wanted and my budget which was 3K, she told me most dresses are above that and whether I was comfortable trying dresses that were a bit more expensive, I said sure but nothing above 4K. I think my budget is pretty reasonable and I have found lots of options that fit into it, but this store is more expensive so I decided to go with the flow and see what happens. We walked the floor and she made some suggestions, asked a lot of questions, and we began the process. I think the store is beautiful, full of light, and open for the experience, you don't feel crowded and it does have a high end feel that a wedding store should. It has a wide variety of fabrics and styles and everything is well maintained, the dresses are not dirty or torn like in so many other stores. Why the 3 stars then? Katie felt the need to constantly put dresses back that I didn't like, and there were only about 5 I was trying and there was only one other person at the store and she was looking for something completely different. So I was left in my dress while she was running around, going in the back and not sure what else. At one point I just sat down and was hanging out in my dress waiting for her to come back. I guess on the positive side I was able to see what's it's like to sit in the dress and I highly recommend trying. Considering the store was not busy she could and should have had someone else doing this for her. She should be giving me her attention especially since I came in by myself. She told me they were having a trunk show this weekend but the only way to take advantage of the sales is to buy the dress on the spot. That turned me off, this is a major decision. The other thing to be aware of, once you order your dress you will still have to pay about $600 for alternations, when there are places in the city that will custom make a dress for you, I would highly consider those first. One thing that was a surprise is that I received an email for Katie following up and pictures of the dress I liked were attached. Most places don't let you take pictures which I think is really annoying, but this place emailed them to you. Since they have gone this far, why not take pictures of the person trying it on and email that to them! Sometimes seeing yourself in a dress might be the deciding factor. read more

My collective experience at MM was probably closer to 3-3.5 stars, but I had such a lovely time with Intissar during my last visit that I decided to bump this up to 4 stars. I agree with another reviewer that some of the ladies working here do get interrogative. Having been to a few bridal gown salons now, I can understand why...they want to know when the wedding date is because it takes months to get a dress made and more time after that for alterations. Knowing a client's time frame and budget is therefore imperative on their end. But when I came here a week and a half after I got engaged for a sample sale during the first week of January, I was told by one woman that for my end-of-September wedding date, I would need to order the dress NOW. Wow. Especially when I was told comfortingly at Bridal Galleria the very opposite. Also, while I appreciate it when consultants sit down to discuss what type of venue you'll be getting married at because that does and will dictate your dress choices (for example, I had always envisioned getting married in a Claire Pettibone dress...except that my wedding will be entirely antithetical to a bohemian garden event, so once I tried on a CP dress, I realized how nonsensical I was being). But as another reviewer pointed out, it is off-putting when someone asks where your wedding is taking place in a manner that makes you think they are simply trying to deduce your budget and the likelihood that you'll be purchasing a $$$$ dress. The first time I came here, it was for a sample sale, which I personally would not ever try again. 1) I'm too short/petite for a size 8 dress and 2) most of the dresses were in terrible shape (broken zippers, ripped bottoms, etc). I have had friends who have scored amazing designer dresses at sample sales, but I think it requires a lot of luck. I should also note that I was pretty much ignored at the sample sale. Maybe it was because I came with my college-aged sister and our backpacks (oh and I forgot to wear my engagement ring LOL), so it was hard to take us seriously. Nevertheless, for such a high-end place, I expected a wee bit more customer service. I was also surprised by how few dressing rooms there were and how only a curtain separates some of them. But the lighting in the main area with the large mirror is quite nice. But as stated at the beginning of the review, my very latest experience here was with Intissar and she made it worthwhile. It might have helped that I was actually wearing my engagement ring this time and my mother accompanied me (I think salons love it when your mother is with you, since it means you are very, very serious about buying). I should also mention that I witnessed the most lovely moment when I first entered the store. A young lady with her mother had just bought a dress and they were hugging, the daughter whispering a tearful "thank you". It was reassuring to know that MM is a place where you could have moments like that. Unfortunately, my mother and I didn't, although we got a MUCH clearer idea of what type of dress I am better suited for. Before my experience here, I thought I *had* to get a Claire Pettibone or Anna Maier dress. Now, I feel much more informed and much more confident about my "vision"...and I have Intissar to thank for that. In any case, my general advice for wedding gowns is to do research early and try on tons of different dresses to get an idea of what you like. If there is a particular designer you fancy, wait for their trunk show. MM carries designers of every type and often hosts trunk shows (which offer discounts and allow you to customize a dress without an additional cost), so I really don't think you can go wrong with MM, unless you end up with a pushy consultant. read more

Ahhhh this place. Seriously beautiful. I flew to San Francisco specifically to visit this shop (but I also have family close by). Even before I was engaged I dreamed of visiting this boutique. It was everything I dreamed. My flight ended up being delayed and I would've been cutting it close either way (I forget SF traffic). When I landed I called and explained I was running late due to my delayed flight and postponed my appointment for an hour later. No problem. I ended up being an hour late to my postponed appointment.. Still no issues. The shop is located in the heart of the shopping district in downtown SF.. The closest parking garage is a few blocks away and of course there's traffic so keep these things in mind when you go there. The consultant greeted us and asked a bit about what I was looking for and showed us each designer's collection with a bit of explanation. I did not end up purchasing my dress here (I will explain why later) but I did find the dress of my dreams. The boutique itself is beautiful with lots of natural light, a giant mirror for you to walk in front of, and basically a stage for you to stand/walk on. We were the only ones there when I went, I don't know if they do that on purpose but it was amazing because we felt like we had undivided attention and the whole place to ourselves. I made the mistake of making this the first place I went to look at gowns, and no place I went to after even remotely compared. All of the gowns here are seriously gorgeous. They have all types of styles and I wanted to try on styles I would have never considered just because they looked so beautiful in person. The gowns are pricey!! But I knew that going in. I had a budget around $5000 but I wasn't totally set on that number, obviously cheaper is better but if I loved a gown that was a bit more I would've considered it. And I knew the designers I loved were around the $5000 range. I wanted to try on a few of the Jenny Packham gowns. Well, I tried them on and I hated them. So we switched gears and went for a different style. The consultant (I can't remember her name) was very helpful, answering all my questions and concerns... Mainly what to do about my 36DD boobs in dresses like these and how we could customize dresses to make them more church appropriate. I ended up falling in love with an $8700 Lihi Hod gown. The style was a lot different than what I had in mind, but was very flattering for my body type, even being two sizes too small. The consultant could sense my (and my group's) love for the dress and brought me shoes so I could see the full effect. She brought out a variety of veils and we were probably a pain in the ass about that because she kept going back to bring us more but she was so, so helpful and we did end up finding a veil we thought was perfect. I even teared up a little seeing the whole thing together and I'm not a cryer. I didn't want to take the dress off, I probably walked around in it in front of that mirror for thirty minutes. After tax and alterations the dress would be over $10,000 not including the veil. That was double my price point. But I didn't care, I knew this was the dress I loved and nothing else I tried on would compare. But I needed to discuss with my fiancé before putting the $5000 deposit down. The consultant told me she completely understood and at no point did I feel pressured to buy the dress right then and there. She simply wrote down the dress and veil info and told me to call when I was ready, but also explained that sometimes dresses are discontinued without warning or their prices change. My appointment went thirty minutes over the hour I was allotted (and considering how late I was) but we were never rushed and, in fact, I took the dress off and tried on another dress and then tried the same dress on again to make sure. I left feeling reassured that I had found my dress and could check that off the list of things to do for the wedding. My fiancé agreed to the price but we agreed we'd wait a month or so before putting the deposit down. A month later we find out my dad has been diagnosed with stage four cancer. Well, that changes everything. Instead of doing the wedding next fall, we're doing it this fall. This not only severely limits our budget, but the dress I chose would never be ready in time. I haven't bought a dress yet, because I feel so disappointed in everything I try on after already finding my perfect dress. I am heartbroken and disappointed to not be able to have the dress of my dreams, but I have nothing but good things to say about Marina Morrison. They took in every single detail in order to make sure that my dress wasn't going to be a fuss and moreso a comfortable dress to wear. When it came time to picking the dress up, everything was laid out in a timely fashion so that I could just swing by {literally} in my automobile, pick it up and be on my merry way! STAY AWAY and spend your money elsewhere. I spent nearly $15K on what was meant to be a made-to-measure dress, and it arrived enormous (a standard size that had to be cut way down, and never ended up fitting properly), with the wrong straps they ordered... which Marina Morrison blamed on a whole variety of excuses. I had a terrible experience with both the salesperson (Sami) and the owner (Rick); they were rude, negligent, and Rick is flat-out sexist (claiming I must have been "too excited" to understand expectations, that my weight must have fluctuated due to working from home, that I was overly stressed due to wedding planning, etc etc). I could go on and on about how awful my experience was - but all I can say is: just go somewhere else, and save yourself a tremendous headache. read more

I purchased my dress from here in 2021. My sizing is tough with my bust measuring smaller than my waist/butt. I was worried about this and asked about split sizing but was assured their tailor, Nora, could make a large size work for me. They showed me my measurements and we decided on the size that fit my waist. When I picked the dress up, it was HUGE all over, so big that the gal asked if I had lost weight (I hadn't). I brought my dress to the preferred tailor and she altered the dress way too small on my waist. It went from "A line trumpet" to a mermaid skirt. I went in for four fittings and it still wasn't right. The skirt was so tight around my butt that I couldn't sit. The top of the dress looked like it had been dragged on the floor and was tattered. When I called Marina Morrison (2 weeks before my wedding) they were unhelpful and rude, even though I was using their recommended tailor. They did not offer me any options or solutions to help the situation. I ended up finding the same dress at a shop in LA and was able to make that work. I was informed by the shop in LA, that my dress was "couture" and was therefore supposed to be made to order to my sizing exactly. Marina Morrison did not offer that option, even though I was very nervous about sizing and we discussed it at length. After consulting with a lawyer, I informed Marina Morrison that I knew that my dress was couture and should have been made to fit and ultimately, I was able to get the dress refunded. I appreciated the refund obviously, but they were rude, unhelpful and lacked empathy that my dress was ruined 2 weeks before the wedding. The shop is beautiful and has great designers. I've had a very positive experience at Marina Morrison, especially because of Amber. They fit me in for an appointment during their Lihi Hod trunk show (highly recommend you make an appointment during trunk show of your coveted designer for best selection). Amber assisted me in trying on approximately 10 Lihi Hod dresses. The other designers' selection offered was plentiful and gorgeous but I had my mind set on 1 designer that I felt embodied my personal style. I chose to go alone so I wasn't influenced by opinions but it was good to have Amber there - she was sweet, honest, and patient and helped me FaceTime with my mother. After choosing what I thought was my dress and about to wrap up payment etc I remembered a particular design that I had seen online but hadn't tried on yet. Amber was gracious to have me try it even though they were about to close on a Saturday evening (I don't like being that person who prolongs the work day of others!). Her advice was to go with the dress that felt like me. And this Lihi Hod dress ended up being my chosen dress. I came in shortly after for measurements and Amber helped to communicate sleeve modifications to the designer. The dress came in a month early and it's even more lovely than I could ever imagine (just some minimal taking in/shortening of length needed). All of the several women I have met at Marina Morrison are incredibly knowledgeable, fashionable, and they are kind and personable to match. Down-to-earth brides: go to Marina Morrison and see Amber! I bought my wedding dress from Marina Morrison in February 2018 and it was by far the biggest mistake I made in the entire wedding process! Truly this company, both Maribel who is the store manager and the owner Rick Wee, were absolutely horrible to deal with. They do not stand behind the products they sell or the representations about quality made by sales associates. Be very careful before you do business with this store. Read every single fabric tag, every single detail on your receipt, etc. I was a stickler on one point relating to my wedding dress- it had to be made of natural fabrics (i.e. silk) and not synthetic (i.e. polyester). I thought I had lucked out when I found a sales associate at Marina Morrison who happily agreed, even going as far as to say "no one should be married in polyester on their wedding day". I tried on a ton of dresses and eventually settled on a Lihi Hod skirt and top. I specifically asked the sales associate, even though it seemed like a stupid question given the total of my order was north of $6,000, to confirm the skirt's fabric content. She confirmed that of course the skirt was made of 100% silk. I checked the top's tag and noticed it had some synthetic fabric in it, which I was told had to do with the bodysuit portion of the top you can't see (basically underwear). This is where I made my biggest mistake. I trusted the sales associate and never check the skirt's fabric content tag. I happily signed the paperwork with all sorts of releases of liability on it. I told myself this must be included because finicky brides probably order dresses and try to cancel them all the time; not something I planned on doing so no problem. I picked the dress up a few months later. I took the skirt and top to my tailor, who was also well aware of my feelings about synthetic fabrics. She informed me immediately upon touching the skirt there was no way the lining was silk and she suspected the outer to be a silk/rayon blend. I was at first stunned, then just totally burst into tears. I wasn't sure who ripped me off- Marina Morrison of Lihi Hod. I thought it could be possible Marina Morrison had no idea the standards at Lihi Hod had dropped and was sure once I told them they'd fix the problem. Not only did Marina Morrison not fix the problem, they immediately referenced their "No Refund" policy and told me the associate who had helped me pick out my dress had also left the company so there was no way they could verify her claims or help me in any way. I was totally shocked by their behavior and complete lack of empathy for a problem with a product I bought from their store!! I referenced my contract immediately and realized they had written "Crepe" in as the fabric content of the skirt. Crepe is not a type of fabric, it is a type of weave. I hadn't caught this when I signed my receipt. I don't work in fashion and I'm not used to parsing through the details of fabrics and weaves. It was only at this point that I realized why Marina Morrison has such a lengthy release of liability; it has nothing to do with finicky brides and everything to do with poor quality standards and customer service they have no intention of backing up. read more

If this salon has the dress you are looking for, make sure you do your due diligence on the pricing of that dress elsewhere! I came here for an appointment after I went to Bridal Galleria. Perhaps BG set the bar too high, but I thought my MM 'consultant' was 10% as good as the one I had at BG. She had me putting on and hanging up my dresses and didn't remember a few of the gowns I requested as we walked through the store. She also had an attitude and was snobby. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the Mira Zwillinger dress I liked at Marina Morrison was $1400 MORE than it was at the Saks in Beverly Hills. There is no way I would have known this except that I wanted to look at more salons in LA. After this discovery, I have heard from multiple people that this is common practice at Marina Morrison. Unless you are ok wasting $1K or more--AVOID. read more

I absolutely loved working with everyone at Marina Morrison. Right when I met Amber(the woman who helped me) we clicked immediately which was super helpful for picking out my wedding dress. She not only made it fun but was extremely professional, walking me through all the steps in the buying process, the follow ups, etc. Once my dress came in I loved playing dress up with all of the accessories and jewelry that they have onsite! This review is based solely on my phone interactions with this salon. I called in regards to an Amsale dress I was interested in, that I had seen at a different salon. I knew they had an Amsale trunk show coming up so I called to ask if they offered discounts on the dresses during the trunk show. I had seen this dress at another salon, and Marina Morrison quoted me $350 more! When I told them that I'd seen it elsewhere for much less, they told me the dress "shouldn't be priced that low" but that they could price match and top it if I brought in the price of the dress in writing. I'm sorry, I think that's really not classy. Then today, I got a phone call from them saying I was on their wait list from December and was I still interested in coming in for a dress? Really? You call me that much later about the wait list thing? When I told the woman I already got my dress, she had the gall to ask me where I got it. How is that any of their business? I was very put off by this whole conversation. Maybe the store is nice, but my phone conversations with them made me glad I never went there to try on dresses. read more

I was shocked by how snotty the services was here. They treated me terribly when I came back after my "appointment time" when I left a piece of treasured jewelry in the dressing room and just wanted to get it back. They told me it was not "my hour" and I could wait. Then they said they didnt have it. I refused to leave and they ultimately found it. Really terrible. I would not go back. I had gone to MM just because they had a Jenny Packham dress in stock that I loved. Well, I found an INCREDIBLE salon- Nouvelle Vogue- just 20 minute south with the nicest people and with Jenny Packham dresses. I was happy to support a shop that treated me well, was not snotty, and oh, actually brought me water and treated me like a customer- even when I went back 30 minutes later to ask them a question. read more

Marina Morrison was the fourth bridal salon I visited, and my main takeaway was, "I don't want to pay a lot for this muffler." To explain, about a week earlier I had fallen for a dress that was double my budget at Jin Wang. The fabulous dress was from designer Jenny Packham, and if I purchased it within two weeks of my visit there, I'd get a 10% discount, which may not sound like a lot, but with my budget it really was. So it had set me into a whirlwind of dress shopping. Though I felt loyal to Jin Wang after meeting her, Marina Morrison is the only other shop in SF that carries Jenny Packham dresses. And, they had an upcoming trunk show, where dresses are sometimes sold at discount. Might I be able to still get "my" dress for a little less? Marina Morrison's showroom is one of the larger ones I went to, and has "high presentation value." On the day I was there, they were training a new salesperson so I got two people attending my every move. Since I had been focusing on the bargain places for a week or so, it was a little unnerving to be back in full-service land. They select gowns for you, change you, and then if you choose, you walk on a big cat walk in the middle of the store to check yourself out in the mirror. If I were a narcissist, I'd be in heaven. As it was, since sample gowns run small on the top for me, I was a bit embarrassed by dresses which gave me Vegas-style boobs. One thing I noticed: the people at MM were more about complimenting me than about giving me any critical opinions on the dresses. A friend, running a bit late, met me there and I was truly glad to have her opinion. The whole place just didn't feel right to me, like I was trespassing in some church of high fashion. I tried on some wonderful heavenly stuff, but after I was done, none of it was calling my name in a voice loud enough for me to think YES after looking at the price tags. The Jenny Packham's they had in stock were different and seemed to be priced even a little higher than at Jin Wang, rendering any possible discount useless. Here's where I decided that I just wasn't going to get a gown that was priced over my original budget. From the moment we got off the elevator, I had a bad feeling about MM. We were a few minutes early and were given an icey reception. None of the dresses really spoke to me. No one offered pregnant friend a glass of water. Two different sales ladies were rude to my friends. I was looking for a non-traditional dress, and I'm a size 12 in regular dresses. Perhaps they were giving me the cold shoulder because of my size. We tried a few dresses that weren't quiet right. Then I found one- an Oscar de la Renta that could have been perfect. The sample was pretty small. The sales lady suggested cutting the dress along the zipper a few inches to get me in. It was a beautiful dress and I didn't want to rip into it if my family and friends hated it. t suggested showing my group the dress and seeing the different colors options before cutting in. Everyone loved it and I saw several colors that I thought would be perfect! So I went back to try it on but the sales lady changed her mind about letting me try it on. It was my idea to double check before cutting the dress in the first place!!! It made no sense. And the worst part was that I likely would have bought the dress but I was so fed up we decided to leave. We then went to Vera Wang where everyone was really sweet and welcoming. They brought cookies and cupcakes and champagne. They had more dresses that I loved and I ended up buying TWO! So my recommendation is to go to Vera! Also, my mother mentioned several times to me that Marina Morrison's show room was really dirty. The curtains apparently were brown on the bottom and dingy from fingerprints. Gross! read more

Had the best experience at Marina Morrison in SF, not only because they have the most beautiful dresses but because of the service! Sammie is one of a kind! She made my whole experience so special and wonderful! I wouldn't trade it for the world, it was everything I had ever dreamed of and I got to have friends and family with me. And so the wedding related reviews begin! I thought while I was in San Francisco I would take the opportunity to enjoy the wider selection of designers stocked at one of the US bridal stores. It's by appointment only, so I booked about a week prior. Chloe was my bridal consultant for the hour. I gave her a long list of what I was and wasn't looking for, and she understood very quickly what I was after. Chloe presented me with options I would and wouldn't have picked for myself, but all which I thought were really great on. She had a good way of telling me what she thought looked good and what didn't, without saying anything too offensive. I haven't been to any other bridal stores in the US, but compared to Australia their range was large and most dresses were very unique in design. Dresses seemed to be priced around $2k-10k. I did see one dress that I really liked, and Chloe is going to email me more options as they arrive in store too. It really was a fantastic customer service experience. I had been dreading trying on wedding dresses. I don't know why. But I was in a huge panic. My BFF had made several appointments, and mom and sis flew out to add to the moral support. En masse, we descended on Marina Morrison as our first stop. These ladies are real professionals. The instant we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and calmness. The genuine interest the sales staff showed in my vision put me at ease. The shop is small, and at first I felt the choices would be too limited, but we were able to take the time to look at each dress. They were all works of art, obviously carefully chosen. As we walked around the store, I felt this soothing calm wash over me. They didn't rush me, and patiently listened to the input of my little group. Long story short, I come in wanting a satin A-line and left with a trumpet shape in lace. How did I know what I wanted? I didn't. The sales staff were able to find that unique dress that simultaneously went with my personality, my body shape, the wedding venue, and my budget. Miracle!! All the while I was trying on dresses, the staff entertained my family and friend, and kept them happy and involved (but didn't allow them to take over). I really appreciated that, because they are an opinionated group :o) When I found my dress, our wonderful sales woman was obviously moved. I felt like she was a part of the family! Because the dress was a little higher than my price range, they offered me free alterations to make it work. Maribel has been AWESOME to work with on the alterations, carefully going over each detail with me and meticulously accounting for every inch of fit. Knowing my mom is a seamstress, she makes sure to mention she is welcome at every fitting. When choosing a wedding dress, every girl should feel a little pampered. I really felt special at Marina Morrison-- there was a sort of magic about the whole experience that made this day one I will remember forever. So I'm giving them 1 star for now which could change later. I'm newly engaged and have been for 2 days trying to get a hold of someone to make an appointment but no one has answered. I even emailed them twice and still no response. Is it just me or something or do they never answer the phone? Probably the largest selection of any of the bridal stores I visited- they had some of everything, from the gaudy and over the top to the simple and classy. It was a bit overwhelming to be just set loose to pick dresses willy nilly, especially because the price tags are hidden away so I had no idea if I could actually afford the ones I was grabbing, but fun to just try on whatever caught my eye. My salesperson was super warm and friendly, but more the supportive pal type who gushed over everything than the "here, let me pick what I think would be best on you", which is what I wanted at that point. Since she was getting all up close with my nekked body (no slips here!) I guess I'm glad we were buddies. My one annoyance was that the setup has you modeling the dresses on a stage of sorts next the others trying on dresses at the time, which on a Saturday morning included three other brides. Luckily I'm the kind of girl who isn't afraid to strut out in front of strangers, but it was a little odd to literally have to sneak by someone else every time I wanted to show my entourage my dress. However, this did allow me to catch another bride in a dress that seemed perfect for me, so my saleswoman lurked outside of her dressing room until she could get it for me. The dresses I liked all fell between about $2,500-3,500, but maybe I'm just lucky enough to have less expensive taste than some of the other reviewers! I ultimately found something I liked better, but this was a good, fun experience with absolutely no pressure to buy. read more

Dress selection was pretty amazing. Store was completely gorgeous and open. Service was not to par at all. Horrible. And that's why this place gets 3 stars. I went with my cousin as she tried on dresses and this place did not allow you to take any pictures. Not knowing their strict picture taking rules, I snapped one of my cousin and the associate nearly bit my head off. Then, when I suggested my cousin to try on a certain dress, the associate refused, stating that it wasn't in her price range. Sheesh! How was I supposed to know the price of the dress? Eavesdropping on my cousin's conversation with the associate, I thought the associate was completely mechanical and bored. I mean, come on! Act just a little interested! But, despite the terrible service, there is a variety of all sorts of dresses here of every style and taste imaginable. The front reception was fairly nice and my cousin didn't have to wait very long for her appointment at all. Again, the store is very open, light and airy. But I've experienced way better. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Marina Morrison. I booked an appointment for a weekday well in advance, and when I arrived on time, I had to wait 10 minutes until somebody saw me. I was then told that I only had the 50 minutes remaining in my one hour appointment, and was rushed around the store to pick a maximum of six dresses to try on. (They were really strict about this.) When I had picked six gowns, I was quickly ushered to the fitting room. Unlike every other bridal appointment I had, the gown consultant helping me (unfortunately, I cannot remember her name) was brusque and did not attempt to make me feel comfortable or at ease about the fact that I had to totally undress in front of a stranger. She rushed me along, clamped me in, and sent me out to the mirror. Even though I managed to get through the gowns pretty quickly, I was NOT permitted to try on any more that I liked when my remaining time. There was only one other woman there during my appointment time (and nobody waiting after), so I'm not sure why they were so strict and inflexible. I visited Jin Wang, Vera Wang, Wild Bride, LOHO, Bridal Galleria, Kinsley James, and probably others I am forgetting, and nowhere was I treated in such a rushed and impersonal manner. While Marina Morrison has an extremely beautiful store and carries gorgeous gowns and lovely designers, their customer service is not at all up to par. read more
