In my opinion, Marinara makes the best slice of pizza in town. Hands down. I go for the pepperoni and my wife swears by the margherita. We typically also share an order of the garlic knots, which are amazing. The slices, which take me back to a vacation to NYC in my youth, are humongous and the prices are unbeatable. I employ the fold over technique, while the wife uses a fork and knife. The ingredients, from the sauce, to the cheeses, crust and toppings are exceptional. Papa John's eat your heart out! The owner Sal is very funny and sometimes you don't know if he's joking with you or if you're the punchline. We love dry, witty humor and he has that in spades. Since Marinara is about a fifteen minute drive, I think it says a lot about the quality of the food and the Customer Service that we make it a point to eat there 1-2 times a week! P.S. We were in the area and happened to find Marinara Pizza on Yelp. Walked in 7 mins in to the semi-final between Germany & Brazil. Let's just say, I couldn't have asked for a better meal experience then what I stumbled upon, to make the game any more memorable. The owner was beaming with excitement as he was rooting heavily for Germany. He came across as a genuine and friendly fella. He asked me if I was rooting for Brazil to win. Good thing I said no. Also, I was a bit afraid, he was going to punch me if I said yes. lol We ordered a slice of chicken spinach pizza New York style and Stromboli. When I placed my order, the guy asked, what would you like on Stromboli. I was expecting a ready made Stromboli but was taken by surprise when the guy made it fresh in front of me with the topping of our liking. The portion was huge, we couldn't take more than a bit after sharing a single slice of pizza and had to take it home. What more can you expect from five dollars for Stromboli. The pizza was really good as well. Everything tasted fresh. I would highly recommend this place. My son and I stopped through Dallas while driving across the U.S. and decided to stop at a nearby hotel for the night. This restaurant popped up on Yelp with great reviews and I can see why. Went here for dinner with my mom on a Friday night based on all the glowing reviews. We dined in, even though this place has all the ambiance of a dentist's office. We ordered our pizza, had a seat, and waited. And waited. And waited. Folks who were there when we got there checked on their orders to see what's up. My 82 year old mom was getting cranky(er). When we got our pizza, we knew we made a mistake...about being impatient. The pizza is well worth the wait. The gent behind the counter was kneading and tossing the dough by hand for each pizza. I don't want to oversell this place and make it sound like something more than it is - but, this place is delicious. I'm on the Plano/Frisco border and was craving good pizza. This place was 20 minutes away, but the pictures looked great so off we went. Late Sunday, we were the only people in there. The owner gave us a warm welcome and had us take a seat. We started with the garlic knots. The crust was crisp on the outside and perfectly baked on the inside tossed with olive oil, parsley and fresh garlic, served with a very well balanced Marinara, I seriously could have eaten it as a soup - it was so good. Our pizza was a white neopolitan. Delicious ricotta, mozzarella and delicate, small patches of finely diced garlic that had been perfectly toasted on the pizza in their super hot pizza oven. I asked for a side of the amazing marinara, and it just made the pie even better. The service was outstanding, in such that we were there pretty late, he did not have to be as lovely as he was. He was also very attentive - did we need more of this or that AND when we were clearly done - he let us sit there without feeling rushed in any way. So - not to oversell - this is a rock solid pizza place with an owner that genuinely likes to see customers and is very hospitable to them; what a gem!! I've been into Marinara multiple times now and I am consistently impressed with the freshness, quality and availability of new items. The slices are HUGE and they do not skimp on delicious toppings. Finally stopped at this location to give them a shot. I'm glad I did. Pizza was fantastic! Resembles some of the mom and pop shops you'd find in NYC. Same look, feel, and even pizza taste. The place was packed when I walked in for lunch which is typically a good sign. There were a mixture of people at the tables. The owner came up and talked to me when I explained it was my first visit. He filled me in on specials and explained some of their catering offers. He was attentive as very cordial. I did explain that their location is poor and he did explain what they are trying to do to improve that. The lunch slices of pizzas offered something for everyone. Cheese only option, a supreme special, and a meat option. Price was reasonable for the quality and size of the slice. A lunch combo would have been awesome but is not available. Just had their buffalo chicken pizza and the other mozzarella cheese pizza with Alfredo sauce. They were both really good! The slices are a little larger than average, so two was plenty for me, and for $5.95 I was very satisfied! The crust is not too thin, and it's got just enough crunch to it. I will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes, it seems like there is a lot of care and quality that goes into their food which I really appreciate. Marinara is fantastic!! Believe it folks, the reviews speak for themselves. Just found this place a few months ago, and now go here at least once every 2 weeks. As others have mentioned, the Pizza here is fantastic, Huge portions, and they have a great menu selection. I believe They only have one size of whole pizza currently and it is equivalent to a extra large size, it is massive. My very first time eating here, I ordered their meat lover, not knowing how big it would be, and was able to eat it for a good 4 days later, was still very good even then. They have a wide selection of food on the Menu, which I have not tried yet, but am sure it is equally impressive. I will have to try some of their other stuff, but the Pizza is sooo good, it may take some time for me to pull myself away from their pizza to try something else! Haha. The Garlic Knots are also fantastic, great flavor, large pieces and the price is unbeatable, trust me you need to add a 6 piece order to your meal, they are that good. I eat them without the sauce, but there is also a dipping sauce you can get as well to dip them in. This is one of the rare places that still sell Pizza by the slice, perfect for lunch, or if you are just craving a slice or two. The size of one slice is Epic, I took my tape measure and measured it when I was telling my friend how massive the pizza slices are, seriously one piece would be enough for most for lunch. Highly recommend trying Marinara, it is kind if tucked away in a shopping strip type location, but well worth it for how good their food is. It was like eating plain dough for a good 30% of each slice. The chicken parmigiana was decently good ~3.5. The garlic knots that came with the pasta were the best of the three. *Some of the ingredients were not that fresh. I originally rated it 3 for ok but due to slight food poisoning, reduced it to 1. In my opinion, any food preparation done for business ought to at least use quality ingredients regardless of taste. **rebaked and tried other slices. these were fine so they ought to spread the sauce more evenly. First, let me say that I'm not sure at which restaurant Clay F had eaten, but it was obviously not Marinara Pizza, and their review is full of inaccurate information. Both times I have been to Marinara, the owner has been EXTREMELY friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the food is top notch! Being a native to the northern NJ/NY City area, I grew up with many great pizza restaurants, and the food here ranks right up there with some of the best. The Sicilian pizza had a great, crispy crust, and was covered completely with toppings. The sausage, pepper, and onion "Pinwheels" are not on the menu but are really great if there are any made. Finally, being a man of a large frame, one of my favorite things is dessert. The cannoli at Marinara is the BEST I've EVER eaten, and believe me, I've eaten a lot of cannoli in my 47 years! The shell was crunchy and fresh, and the cannoli cream, well, it was rich and delicious. If you want real, New York style pizza, give Marinara a try. You won't be disappointed! We tried tbe garlic knots and they were pretty good, very good garlic flavor. I ordered the calzone. The crust was perfect however the calzone was really stuffed. This is never a bad thing until it is. Because they were so generous with the toppings the cheese in the middle wasn't cooked. It was actually cold in the middle. The flavor was good. If you come here pizza is the way to go i think. The gentleman making the pizza seemed very stressed and over worked. Definitely not the friendliest, and i think got fustrated with a customer and hung up on them. The atmosphere is very depressing, pick up to go I would highly recommend. All and all it was alright.
