    Summer sizzler 15k Sunday!!
    Chelsea R.

I ran a quick lil "out and back" 15k (9.3 miles) out here and honestly it was a great motivator for me to sign up for more Fort Worth races! The park has a huge lake, and a few spots to park for free nearby. Lots of shade but then it is also exposed to the sun in a few places. So just be mindful and come early during the summer time. But this was so fun and as someone who has quite literally done every roadie race from 5k to 50k in DFW (humblebrag) I enjoyed shaking it up. Not a ton of things to do nearby so you will get that country feel. Saw lots of folks out with their boats, fishing, biking and enjoying the morning to beat the heat. I'd bring your own hydration so you can really enjoy the trails without searching for any of that. Supposedly this area also connects to the Trinity Trail system in Fort Worth which of course is amazing as well. Enjoy your exploring time!

Walking trail section by TCC - NW campus

This primarily paved 6-mi trail surrounding Marine Creek Lake is great for walking/running and biking. Although the section by 820 is not paved, it is a fairly flat gravel pathway. The trail is accessible via the two public boat ramps located at Ten Mile Bridge and the other right off the 820 access road. You can also park behind Chisholm Trail HS and the TCC-NW campus. The park is open daily from 5am - 10pm. It's semi shaded with a wide pathway to accommodate walkers and bikers passing through. Speaking of bikers, if you are one, it would be really nice to let walkers/joggers know that you're passing them. There's been so many times I have gotten startled by whizzing bikers passing by. Like seriously, if you hit me, we are BOTH going down and YOU will be flying off that bike. I make it a point to thank the few that give a courtesy warning. You guys rock in my book. Also, if you're walking in a group, it would be nice if everyone moves to the right as much as possible when passing walkers in the opposite direction to maintain social distancing. We are in the middle of a pandemic, folks. Ok, rant over. The reason I knocked off a star is the only point on the trail that has a porta potty right now is the public boat ramp located off the 820 access road. If you park there and walk the 6 mile trail, make sure you have a strong bladder. It would be great if they added more over at the other boat ramp off Ten Mike Bridge which is almost halfway into the trail. Other than that, it is a very enjoyable trail. Oh, one more thing. Please pick up after your dogs. Thanks!

This is my new favorite trail spot. You can walk, run, bike, sit on a bench, exercise on some of the equipment along the trail, boat, fish, etc. While walking the trail, we actually saw a guy catch a big fish....it was as big as an orca...., OK, maybe not that big, but we clapped for him when he caught it. LOL! He said it was a type of bass. The scenery is just lovely. Besides fish, we saw lots of ducks, a crane, turtles, other people's dogs, and overhead "something" rustling in the nearby brush. I could spend hours out here. Early spring is the perfect time to be here, before the overwhelmingly hot summer hits, as well as the huge crowds of people.

The ending of the sidewalk and beginning of gravel. Sorry skaters =(

This trail is awesome for cycling, walking and jogging. It gets 4 stars because I love skating and unfortunately, this trail has a ton of gravel and pebbles in certain areas which makes it difficult for people who'd love to skate the trail. Also, the last 1/4 mile of the trail is gravel so it's kinda difficult/impossible to skate the entire 6 mile loop. With that said, I LOVE walking this trail. The scenery is beautiful, there are benches and picnic areas throughout the trail, as well as portable restrooms and a water fountain in the parking lot. This is a 6 mile loop that circles Marine Creek Lake, behind Tarrant Community College and a residential neighborhood, but trust me, you'll forget about the concrete jungle less than a mile into the trail. The sound of the lake is extremely soothing if you forget your ear phones and I haven't seen too much wild life popping out (bobcats, etc). Enjoy!

The trees and green expanses at the back of the college are nice.

I can't believe my original post was 9 years ago. Of course, I still stand by what I said before…read morethat this park is amazing and dog-friendly. I will just give you the CliffNotes version in that the park is very clean - perfect for running/jogging, walking, and sitting around to enjoy the outdoors. Here's the new impression about how kid friendly it is. First off, I love their splash pad. The best part of it is it's free! We tend to go on cooler/cloudy days when the summer sun is not beating down on us. They have benches and tables for families to sit around the splash pad. You can't bring your pets or food to the area. After a lot of running and laughing, my son's eyes do get a little red from the chlorine, so wear glasses or goggles if you want to avoid this. Right next to the splash pad is the playground. I'm so glad that it is covered, so we can go when it's sunny outside, but not too hot. The playground is a good place for the kiddo to either warm up or cool down before the splash pad. I would say the splash pad is such a fun distraction that my son spends the majority of his time at the splash pad and the playground is just a second thought. It's never super crowded even on the weekends. Perfect amount of kids playing around. There's a nice private parking lot right next to the splash pad. I'll be back with the family again and again.
