Two years ago, I brought my 1988 Dodge B250 campervan to Stan's for a transmission rebuild. A year…read morelater, there was a leak in the transmission and they fixed it for me as it was still warrantied. After recently getting an oil change, I was informed that my transmission had a leak. Naturally, I took her in to Stan's. A few days of her being with them, I got a call saying that there was no leak but they decided to keep looking. I just received a call this morning saying she is ready. They found the leak and managed to fix it AT NO COST! Who does that in this economy? My van is an old lady and I guess you can't get parts for her and Stan still took the time to fix her. They went above and beyond what I expected. Thank you guys! I highly recommend Stan's and would bring in any other vehicles in the future.

I had extremely high hopes due the supposed reputation of Stan's, but was plagued with nothing but…read moreheadaches and issues for 7 consecutive months while they repeatedly failed to complete my trans rebuild properly. The work was performed under an extended warranty, yet they damaged parts and expected me to find and purchase replacements out of pocket to fix their mistakes. I drove under 1000km during the 7 months it was in and out of the shop, finally giving up after coming back the 10th time and taking the car home with a visible transmission pan leak that they had continuously failed to correct. After two years of barely driving the vehicle, the transmission again showed symptoms of failure, with another shop's trans specialist finding several bolts in the transmission (forward band servo cover and the valve body bolts) that were only hand tightened and eventually backed out, causing total failure and loss of all drive gears. If you care about your vehicle and want honest trustworthy work done, I could not possibly recommend this shop at all. Their negligence ended up costing me thousands to rebuild it again. Extremely disappointing from a shop that touts customer satisfaction and an outstanding reputation

I took my beloved 2017 Ram 3500 to Barrett based on reading their reviews. The truck had 830,000…read moremiles on it when they serviced the Aisin Transmission, which is the original and never rebuilt. I noticed when I picked the truck up that the water and fuel light was on and I thought that was a strange coincidence. Over the years this light has come on two or three times after a car wash, and it's an easy fix to clean out the water in the sensor connection. I did that and even replaced the sensor in the rear fuel water separator. The light was still on, even though the fuel looked clean, so I ended up taking it to a shop in Oak Harbor before driving to the Tetons, as that light was bothering me. It turns out the technician at Barrett had inadvertently pinched some wires that ran along the crossmember below the transmission mount when he reattached the cross number. Thus the cause of the water and fuel light. Barrett was extremely honorable and covered the cost of those wire repairs, and the shops diagnostic fee. So the only thing I was out was the cost of a water and fuel sensor and time. At the time of this post, the truck has nearly 832,000 miles as I just did a trip to Teton Valley and back to Washington and the transmission ran beautifully. The service work the technician did was otherwise perfect and this type of mistake could happen to anyone, so I do not fault Barrett and I would gladly use them again and intend to. The fact that they honored this situation without question is an indication of a shop that has integrity.

I'll be back with any of my transmission needs. I came in…read morewith the recommendation of several of my ASE mechanic friends from different local repair shops as I had red fluid pouring out between my tranny and motor. Mark assured me that they'll take an assessment of the issue and get back to me before doing any work. Later in the day I received a phone call from Mark. He shared with me the red fluid was not tranny fluid, however, the specialized coolant my duramax requires. He went on to describe that all fluid levels were appropriate and the tranny and transfer case were in fine shape. Despite feeling a bit embarrassed about not differentiating the difference between the tranny vs coolant fluids, I was extremely grateful that they did not take advantage of me and, instead, went on to show me where the issued was. Such honesty goes a long way these days. Based upon numerous recommendations from mechanics I trust and respect, and Barrett transmission's honesty (and the time they took to further investigate and show me the issue)., I'll be back with any transmission issues or maintenance needs that I might have. Thank you Mark and Cameron (the tech) for your professional and honest assistance. Charlie D, Ferndale

The truck went 193 miles before the transmission seized. From what I know now I'm so thankful it was not towed back to the shop we had the transmission repaired and it ended up in the hands of Mark and Owen at L&D transmission. I must say Mark and Owen were very professional and upfront with us what to expect and genuinely concerned for us in the situation we were in. I felt very at ease knowing they were doing the repairs to rebuild our transmission the way it should have been done from the beginning.
