My grandsons , ready for Ayso soccer in Marine Park

I've lived in Marine Park for over 20 years.. still love the vibe.. sure , there have been cultural changes and there are those who will whine, but mostly this is a great small town type neighborhood with great, friendly helpful people. No one should ever trash talk their neighborhood..

I'm glad there's this little Oasis in The Neighbourhood. Plenty of open spaces for sports and game fields. They also have a nature preserve for a nature walk.

Hiked around Marine Park on Sunday morning. A nice location, but the park isn't well taken care of. Quality: Marine Park contains both a standard park and a nature preserve. We spent the morning hiking long the trails in the salt marsh. While there were positive elements, such as the water views and the city in the distance, the overgrown paths, burnt out vehicles, and piles of trash hurt the experience. Quantity: The park is more than 500 acres with miles of paths. Value: Free to visit. Ambiance: Marine Park is located in Brooklyn, close to the ocean. The park is pretty large and split into two sections. The first is a more traditional park with different grassy areas and sports fields. The second larger area is the salt marsh that runs along a creek and out to the water. It includes multiple paths that wind to a small beach at the far end. If it was better maintained it would be a nice place to take a stroll. Crowd: A few people at the beach and a few others fishing just off the trails. The sports fields across the way were pretty busy on Sunday morning. Service: The trails were a disaster, tons of garbage and overgrown. Parking: Plenty of parking near the park.

We were visiting a friend and of course wanted to find a park we can go hunt for some Pokémon so we figured why not go to Marine Park as they were also near Uncle Louie G, which we wanted to try out. It's a pretty huge park where you can definitely get your steps in so I highly approve. I only gave it three stars because I really did not enjoy all the bugs smacking me in the face in the trail we went into. So much so I ran to get out of the trail. The view with the water is beautiful though. I will have to make sure to bring bug spray if we ever come back here. At least the boyfriend was lucky enough to catch a shiny so it wasn't a complete waste of a trip and we very much enjoyed our Uncle Louie G ices. Next time we may stick to just doing the whole lap around the area where the fields are.

The bottle on the left is water from the gym. The bottle on the right is water from the drinking fountain at marine park.

Great park but do NOT drink from the fountain. The water comes out yellow and has little pebbles of sediment in it. We reported it to 311 but it may take the DEP or Parks Dept up to 10 days to inspect it. We trust that they will fix it but don't want anyone or their children getting sick in the meantime.

It's a nice big park. Good for runners and sports lovers. Wish they had a dog run/ otherwise perfect place to relax.

My dog really loves it! We go in the middle of the park where she run without the leash, playing with the ball and chasing squirrels. I have Jack Russell terrier and they are super energetic, I'm really glad we have this park in our area so she can throw her energy out somewhere. The only thing is, it's really windy because park located near water and it's an huge open space so don't forget to take a hoodie or a hat. I also seen a lot of kids playing sports there, so it's a really nice spot to go for any occasion.

I've lived in Brooklyn for almost 30 years and have not utilized my time in this park like I should have until recently. I moved 15 mins away from the park and now come here at least once a week. The park is great for biking, jogging, walking, or running as it has a circle lane that runs .84 miles. The inside of the circle has a huge grass field where you can play soccer, football, baseball, softball, or just run around with your dog. There are also hand ball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts and a some playgrounds. Many people bring their dogs to the park. One of the better parks in South Brooklyn.

Came here on memorial day with my wife to have some fun. First of all, it was a nice neighborhood and there are a lot of activities to do. Plenty of parking. On this particular outing we tried their paddle boats. The attendant was friendly and prices are reasonable. A good alternative to central park. Paddle boats were a little beaten up but still good condition. Saw some jellyfishes in the water. Had a really good time but the down side is there is no shade on the water to shield you from the burning sun. Overall, this is a great park and big. Probably can spend a big portion of the day here. Next time probably going to try their bike rental. They got a good bike path to operate their surrey. Looks like fun.

The crown of the park is the Prison Ship Martyr's Monument, that marks the lives of 11,000 people held captive by the British in ships in Wallabout Bay. PLAYGROUNDS - two, one on the south east corner for 5 and under and one on the west side that is good for all ages. The south east playground has a water sprinkler, four swings, and play equipment. The west side playground has a big kid playground with two ten foot high lookout towers, a water sprinkler shaped like a compass, six bucket swings, and a toddler sized playground. The west side playground also has bathrooms, which are well... used frequently. RANGER STATION - The station has restrooms, water fountains outside, and an assortment of critters (corn snake, stick bugs, gold fish). You can pick up a map to follow the "Tree Trail," bird watching brochure, or nature scavenger hunt. A junior ranger program also supports kids and teens in the neighborhood. The station is next to a mini fort that invites kids to climb, play look out, and creates a little space to gather. FARMER'S AND MAKER'S MARKET - Saturday Mornings! A great selection of veggies, fruit, flowers, honey, cider, baked goods, clothing/compost drops. Vendors leave when things sell out. Makers markets seem to rotate, but there's usually coffee, jewelry, baskets, clothing, soap, perfume, and something for dogs. VOLUNTEERING - Fort Greene Park Conservancy organizes gardening and community events that always need a hand. DOG POLICY - while there is no official dog park, there is a very robust dog community that shows up at off leash hours (before 9am and after 9pm). Park rangers will patrol at 9am sharp to enforce leashes on. Lawns open for off leash hours will rotate seasonally to help the grass grow. Please be a responsible pet owner, it can get rowdy. SPORTS - a basketball court and calisthenics equipment (Myrtle side), tennis court (middle), abundant hills for sledding in the winter. JOGGING - the outer perimeter of the park has a jogging trail, people tend to go counterclockwise. Its a mile and there are hills. Runners tend to be respectful. Path is dirt and gravel. EVENTS - summer movie nights! hop along andrew playing music for the kids! musical events! Drum line practice! Buskers! Dog costume contest for Halloween! Dance workshops with Cumbe! Holiday Tree lighting! NATURE - lots of huge old trees, well kept gardens and pollinator flower beds. Look out for the hawks that nest here in spring, woodpeckers, and song birds. BBQ and PICNIC TABLES: BBQ is Myrtle side of the park. Additional picnic table on the east side, Washington and Willoughby, north of the baby playground. First come first served, there is no reservation system.

It was wonderful, filled with people but everyone came with good spirits. The park is relatively large and eggs lots of portable bathrooms.
