They offers 3 month membership which includes lessons on rowing first on machines and then also right there on the river but you need to be a good swimmer and also volunteer your time of 6 hours annually besides just paying dues. They maintain a large fleet of singles, doubles, and quads rowing shell boats the kind you see in sports racing so you don't need to buy your own shell boat. You then or your group can row up and the the Passaic but the idea is to do it as body work and not just for leaure. rowing a shell boat competivlly 1000 yards is eaqul to playing a full court basketball game.

The water was very choppy and the captain had to constantly move us back to our spot to get on the fish. The crew was patient and cool people to fish with. The morning and night crowd are typically the more experienced fisherman. The 2-6 pm time is more family oriented. Either way it was a great experience and will go fishing again next time in town.

You get pretty close to Snake Hill which used to have those creepy buildings visible from the highway when i was a kid. The location is not handy…read moreas Hoboken's northern end is poorly served by mass transit, being neither central Hoboken (a.k.a. the PATH station) nor Weehauken (literally on the other side of the tracks past some scary industrial blocks). We're largely talking drivers from throughout Northern NJ who push thru as far as land and roads allow before parking to take the commuter ferry. The block-sized parking garage by Sovereign Parking and huge condos with a 1:1 unit:parking ratio are confirmation. The upside is the view is largely unperturbed by large crowds with an architectural spaciousness that Northern Hoboken is prized for having thus condos with unobstructed views of Manhattan. The morning winds during the commute are stiff so bring a jacket when not during summertime. On the pier itself, just a small building for ticketing and a small dozen commuter capacity lays else it's a bare pier prizing the efficient commuting its built to handle. That is all.
