I am extremely pleased with the care and professionalism this daycare provides. From the moment you walk in, the environment feels warm, welcoming, and structured in a way that truly supports the children's growth and development. The staff is attentive, nurturing, and consistently communicates with families, which gives me great peace of mind. One of the most meaningful things to witness has been my nephew's progress since attending. He is not only learning, but truly processing his communication, social interaction, and confidence have noticeably improved. It's clear that the teachers are intentional about engaging the children in ways that support both their emotional and cognitive development. I also have to highlight the new director, who has been nothing short of amazing. Her leadership is evident in the positive atmosphere, organization, and overall quality of care. She is hands on, compassionate, and clearly committed to maintaining a high standard for both the children and the staff. You can feel the difference she has made. Follow me: Weds (10/1) tuition was due for the week of 10/5/2025, meaning that the week of 9/22 would cover the week of 09/29-10/03. My daughter was picked up late on Monday, 09/29, +$30, and I was late on tuition on 10/01/2025, +30 on top of the tuition. So, on Thursday, I emailed this to Marqueda so we could come up with a payment plan, and I agreed through email. Earlier this Thursday morning (10/02), my daughter was rejected care, not because of my past-due balance on a day-late tuition, but because it was 7:15 am. I was confused because there was no school, and La Petite promotes that on school days, the drop-off time is 6:30 am- 6:50 am, so the kids can make it to school on time. So I had to turn around, call my job, and tell them I had to miss work because of the situation. Second offense, on Friday (10/3), there is still no school for HISD kids. I arrived at La Petite at 6:30 am, and there was no one there to receive my child. At 6:40 am, a lady pulls up and lets us into the building. I'm thinking to myself, "Well, this is strange. Parents have 10 minutes to check their kid in for care, and my daughter is the only one here. This cannot be true that the cut-off is at 6:50 am. I would see other kids pulling in." Then, the daycare teacher who let us in, my daughter, and I see a lady come from the back. I asked her if she had been her the whole time because I had been calling and knocking on the door. She responded, "Yes, she was her, but she could not hear." La Petite is 30 minutes away from my job; therefore, I would be late the day after I had to call out of work because of La Petite. I left a voicemail for Marqueda on Friday, 10/3, expressing my frustration about the situation, and somehow I was gaslit. She said that "I went into working on Thursday, thinking it was Wednesday, so I didn't know they had school, but upon reviewing your account, I see that you're delinquent, and she wouldn't have been able to stay for care on Thursday anyways." Well, that's confusing because remember I said at the beginning of the review that I paid 9/22 would cover the week of 09/29-10/03, so that made no sense. Then, even if so, I responded to the email of the payment plan, and said I would pay on Monday since I was late for the week of 10/05. She proceeded to say I was screaming at her when I was not. She said that I would not let her speak when I asked her throughout the conversation if it was okay that I spoke. She told me that most parents tell them ahead of time that their kid will come in when there is no school, or they will watch them at their house. Like I mentioned before, 10/2 and 10/3 were paid for previously; they always pick her up from school on Thursday and Friday, so why would she not be accounted for? It seemed as if anything I said in response was being turned into something else because of deflection. I had to end the conversation and call corporate. read more

I went back and forth on whether to post or not. However, I believe parents deserve to know what they are getting in to. We started here because, frankly they had openings when we needed it. Not because I got warm and fuzzies. I should have listened to my gut. Pros: -short wait list, usually can get you in when you need it -you can watch your baby all day on a closed circuit tv app -isn't terribly expensive and include diapers Cons: -the building is super old and apparently they aren't into keeping it up on the inside, the floors are dirty, the ceilings have water stains (mold anywhere?)-wouldn't bother me too much but... -terrible hygiene. I mean terrible. I understand babies get sick. I work with babies, I know this. But is it common for a baby to be sick back to back to back, and not be healthy for 6 straight weeks, including having to go to the ER? No...why...hygiene. There is 1 hand sanitizer pump, by the door where the parents come in and sometimes it's just empty. I never once saw a staff member, minus maybe 2 of them, use hand sanitizer or wash there hands. One of the employees even told me that she gave her coworker hand sanitizer because she knew she wasn't washing her hands and she asked her what it was!!! I've seen them blow their nose and cough into their hands and not wash them! I've also told staff that a teacher seemed sick and I thought they sent her home because she wasn't on the closed circuit tv, but when I came to pick up my child, she was still there, snotting everywhere -equipment. Or lack there of. Our current daycare has about 6 different pillow type loungers, 5 different seats, 2 swings and 3 different jungles. Individual blankets of babies on cleanable tile floor mats. They have 2 seats and a carpet that I've never once seen cleaned (vacuumed sure but that doesn't get rid of germs). The babies are just placed on the carpet haphazardly. I've seen some roll off and are face down in the dirty floor. -brings me to staff. There were a few teachers we liked. One left. One moved rooms. The rest seemed to dislike their job. One seemed unsafe to be left with the babies. In fact an employee told me she wasn't allowed to be in the older kids classrooms because parents complained about her. So you stick her with the infants!? And even then some of those parents complained about her and said for her not to touch their babies. If you have consistent problems with a staff member to where it's a safety issue you should probably let that member go. I felt a pit in my stomach every time I saw her on the camera and knew she was working with my baby. She once fed my baby the wrong bottle, gave us the wrong bottle to take home and left out our babies bottle in front of a sick kid and he proceeded to cough all over it and then she fed it to her. I didn't understand the importance of a good daycare until I became a mom. I was like "eh she will be fine. What harm can they do". But not being happy or feeling comfort in dropping your baby off daily is terrifying. I'm sure in the past it was better. I've heard the staff used to be good and has slowly left. But the current infant room staff I wouldn't leave my baby with, especially, Janis. Find something you feel safe with, even if that means a nanny until a daycare you like opens up. read more

I absolutely love this school! I was transitioning my daughter into a full time day care and she loves it! All of the teachers are incredibly nice and great with the children. They have multiple resources for you to check on your child throughout the day. And they keep you very updated about your child day through the app, from the food they eat to, nap time, activities and even if they went potty. Very secure as well. We had such a great experience, we love this place. They use an app and update it constantly with notes, pictures and videos throughout the day. The teachers truly care about all their kiddos. Our infant son's biggest smiles were when he saw his teachers, he loved them so much, I would get jealous! I can't say enough about all the love and warmth they showed my son - thanks to Ms. Lexus, Ms. Theosha, Ms. Janis and Ms. Fayzeh specifically. Staff turnover is high which is understandable...caring for kids is a tough job & not everyone is cut out for it. Some of the teachers are pleasant while others look miserable. We were lucky to have Krissy as our teacher. She's been taking care of kids for 10+ years. She has a great rapport with the parents & the kids love her. She's very organized, has a lesson plan each week & is very consistent with providing updates throughout the day on the BrightWheel app & I greatly appreciated all of that. Destinee & Jackie at the front office always greet you when you come in & bid you farewell at pickup. Suzette, Theosha & Veronica will greet you with a smile when you come across their paths as well. Certain things about this place bothered me. First I'll talk about the facilities. The floors were always dirty & icky! I have never walked in there & not had my shoes stick to the floor. Vacuuming does not seem to be done on a regular basis here & it definitely needs to be a daily chore because of all those kids, food & foot traffic. The bathrooms were out of soap at one point so teachers & kids were walking around spreading all sorts of germs. One of the sinks is constantly leaking. I don't know if the kids don't turn the faucet completely off or a plumber needs to fix the issue. I can't help but turn off the knob because I hate seeing water being wasted like that. I don't know if the teachers are ignoring the running water sound or have gotten used to it. I've seen the water dispenser sitting outside in the same spot for weeks so I told my child to only drink from her own water bottle. Other major issues included inadequate care for my child. My kid had a few potty accidents & she was left in her urine soaked clothes until pickup time. Another time she threw up & they let her stay in those yucky clothes until I came to get her. I didn't receive a call that my child was sick nor did I get a message through the BrightWheel app. Every child's bag is supposed to have 3 changes of clothes & yet the teachers failed to notice the potty accidents or do the decent thing to get my child out of vomit soiled clothes, socks & shoes. I have also witnessed a few teachers ignore a child's verbal & physical communication indicating they needed to use the potty. Communication is a problem here. The staff isn't exactly open with the parents. I was watching the classroom camera one time & there appeared to be a lice problem because a kid was scratching their head & then the teacher started checking all of the kids' heads. I saw the itchy head child separated from the class & hanging out in the front office at pick-up. Not a single staff member mentioned there was a lice issue in my child's classroom. The next morning I saw the former director doing a "semi-deep cleaning" & said it was just "reorganization" when I asked what was going on. Cleanliness & good hygiene is another thing I have to mention. I've seen teachers touch the kids' foods with their bare hands instead of putting on gloves. I once saw a former teacher take the broom he was using to sweep the floor & then used it to sweep the tables. The classrooms are a bit cluttered. The "safety" gate is broken half the time & there is no gate keeping the kids out of the kitchen. Sometimes they do block off the kitchen by moving a shelf or crib over into the entry way. The rooms could use a deep cleaning & decluttering. The "staff lounge" is cluttered with all sorts of things & the employees barely have a place to sit. FYI...the "staff lounge" is just a corner of a classroom sectioned off with shelves. At one point, LPA was providing breakfast, lunch & snacks but then they stopped providing lunch during the summer & didn't lower tuition at all. There were summer fees for various activities but the part-time students may not always get to partake in those activities due to the activities being held later in the day. The daycare lures you in by talking about the BrightWheel app & the ability to see your child on camera but there are underlying issues with that. The teachers are not consistent in providing updates on the BrightWheel app. Some teachers will give you potty updates, lunch portion updates & even provide photo updates while other teachers don't give you any updates throughout the day. In addition, you can only see your child if he/she is in their assigned classroom. If your regular teacher is out & your child is moved to another classroom for the day then you won't be able to see what your child is up to that entire day. You only get 2 camera views of your child's regular classroom...that's it. You do not have access to the outside camera if you want to check on your child during recess. Would I recommend LPA? Probably not but if you're waitlisted or can't get into the preferred daycares or schools & you're in a bind then have your child go here until something better opens up. read more

Hopefully it's just this location and not the entire chain, but based on my walk through, I would never enroll my child here. From what I saw, staff was unqualified, there was an unclean and overcrowded environment, and lack of any one nurturing working in the establishment. My son is currently enrolled in a Montessori in Sugaland that him and I both love and I was hoping to find something similar in The Heights but this place is not it. The staff to student ratio is unacceptable, and from what I saw, the way the teachers spoke and handled the students was not okay. Would much rather drive an hour each day to keep my son where he's at or pay premium at another facility! As someone else mentioned in another post, kids were sleeping on the floor (which was filthy) and the sheer amount of kids in one room was baffling. I observed one teacher holding a child by his shirt and restraining him as he yelled "let me go". I did a tour during nap and potty time and saw several children in the restroom at once with no supervision. Teachers looked miserable and like they would rather by anywhere else in the world. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

My son is too young to remember the awesome women who cared for him as a baby at La Petite, but I will make sure he never forgets them. I have nothing but good things to say about these folks. We brought our son there when he was just a few months old. It's a scary thing to do, but from day one it was clear that each staff member loved and cared for him. I was kept well informed about his activities. Staff let me know when he wasn't feeling well or maybe developing a rash. The environment was clean and safe and enriching. It is affordable and fairly priced. I never had any hesitations about dropping off my son. That's a big deal for working parents. Thanks so much to Fayzeh, Esmer, Jennifer, Kristin, Maureen, Mary, Breshea, Nancy, Kiara, Theosha, Brie, and anyone else I may have forgotten! Even workers who were not responsible for my son made him feel happy and welcome. Thank you Martha and Mae! I know I'm forgetting others but thank you too! We came here while still on the waitlist for another school. Each member of their staff that I have spoken with seems very knowledgeable about properly teaching children as they advance. They teach a curriculum that they explain during the tour. They send updates with pictures and notes about your child's progress throughout the day. I am more than pleased with this school. They are also quite welcoming and accommodating to parents/children who are new to the school routine. You should definitely check them out if you are in the Heights/Oak Forest area. My son has attended La Petite for two years, and we have been incredibly pleased. The front office staff is a pleasure to work with, and my son has loved so many of his teachers. They use an app called "Precious Status" which allows you to get updates and photos throughout the day. Worth checking out especially since so many other schools have lengthy wait lists. read more

I wish there was a zero star option. During the tour they tell you that the ratio of infants to teacher is 4:1, but there is always a situation soon to be remedied making them have at least 11 infants to 2 teachers. The only positive is that it was close to our home, cant find any other positive thing to mention about this school. Just drop in on your kid during the day and you are sure to have your heart totally broken. Kids share Pacifiers, they never seem able to follow feeding instructions and the school management is terrible and insensitive, the only time they are nice is when you are about to make payments for the week, this is an horrible place to put your kid in. read more
