My boyfriend and I stayed here in a 1bdrm on the 2nd floor, facing the parking lot (not the water side). Unfortunately, we had to end our lease early due to a new job requiring relocation, but we were so happy with our short time here. It was peaceful at night and the doors and windows, when closed, drowned out the noise from the street very well. Our neighbors on both sides were quiet. We could hear our upstairs neighbor's footsteps, but it wasn't unbearable. Andrea does a really good job of maintaining the complex and ensuring that it is safe and secure. She's also super easy to work with and made the inquiring and signing process easy. We actually signed the lease without viewing in person so that says a lot about the great impression we had of the apartment complex! We can only speak for our unit, but it was clean, spacious, renovated, and had more than enough space for 2 people. Good location, would recommend to friends and family. I moved out of this complex a couple months ago, and it was the best decision I have ever made. What an absolute nightmare this place was. Everything was constantly broken, and management couldn't afford to fix anything. It has the facade of luxury living, but it is actually run like an old motel. We can begin with the laundry room with two washers and two dryers for 40 people... one of which was broken and never repaired for weeks. Tons of my clothing was ruined by this 1980's setup. The doors to the stairwell are so heavy that they shake the entire corridor and building when they open and close. Not to mention that the walls are so thin and poorly constructed, I could hear my neighbor ripping the bong at all hours of the night. Good riddance ! And goodbye ! read more

Honestly, this complex is a hidden GEM! Best location, always super calm and serene right on the water. The complex is clean and quiet. Patios are huge and perfect to hang out on during the day and night. Great storage in the units and garage, parking is a breeze for guests (you will never have an issue), close to EVERYTHING! I lived at 730 Mariners Island for a year and recently moved out. I had a first-floor apt facing the water. Good: · Good size balcony · Target and Home Depot not too far. The very bad: · Rent was $2,695 + HOA: for a total of $2,945. Pretty expensive for a 1-bed apartment without AC and washer/dryer. · People are smoking cigarettes on their balcony and there is a constant smell of marijuana at all hours. · Walls and floors are VERY THIN. You can hear people's footsteps and everything else they say and do! I could hear every night my neighbors above having sex! · Turnover is insane. I was there for 1 year, and I had 2 different tenants on my left, 4 on my right, and 3 above. I was so tired of the constant moving noises! · Apartments don't look like the ones in the ad. The materials are low quality, laminate floorings are dark brown and old, some apartments still have carpets, and my bathroom still had a shower curtain and tub. · The humidity in the bathroom is exhausting and the vent in the ceiling is a joke. · Only 3 washer/3 dryer machines for 24 apartments! If you are 10 minutes late, other tenants will remove your clothes from the machines and place them on the table. Very unpleasant, especially during COVID time. Tenants don't clean after themselves and the machines are full of dogs' hair. That's disgusting! · Pond is dirty and smelly. The water is brown, and you can see plastic bottles floating. The water attracts plenty of mosquitoes in summer. Every year, Foster City Public Works Department lowers the water for 3 to 4 months, so you only see dry mud. · If you live on the 1st floor, the constant passage of strangers or tenants walking their dogs will prevent you from enjoying your balcony. · Due to high traffic, constant vehicle noise, and clouds of dust from the adjacent bridge. I had to sweep my deck daily. It is very windy in Foster City, and I would find my heavy plants on the floor, and the deck covered with pines. · Trash is outside which is not convenient Management has installed more than 20 cameras in each building and tenants receive regular threatening text messages from management complaining about everything! · DOGS: they allow dogs, and you hear endless barking. If you complain to management, be ready to deal with tenants' retaliation. I found trashes on my balcony on a daily basis and was assaulted several times by a dog owner. Management didn't even attempt to resolve the issue. They just want your money, and the rest doesn't matter. · No electric car charging stations. Only 1 in the other 735 building. · I had to threaten the management to go to small claims court to get my deposit back! read more

I'm not normally a reviewer, but I've seen a negative review or two for this place and I wanted to just combat that a bit because I feel it's unwarranted. I've lived here for about 9 months. I moved in last July after looking for a bigger place. I first met the property manager (Andrea) on my initial visit. She was helpful and informative and really made me feel like she was excited for me to come live here. From the first day I moved in I've been happy. I love my neighbors. I love the park across the street. I love how most are dog or cat owners and love saying hi to you in passing. I've made great friends here already. If there's an issue with your apartment (luckily I've only had one), Andrea is a text away and is extremely responsive. She's also kind and flexible. It doesn't make sense for me to hear anything but. I can't tell you enough how amazing she's been and how happy I am living here. I would highly highly recommend this place to anyone and am excited to live here for years to come. read more

We've been at Mariners West for 1.5 years and look forward to staying even longer. The community is safe and quiet and neighbors are respectful. Great place for anyone with dogs or anyone who enjoys getting outside for a nice walk at the park or a walk along the water right outside your door. The units are a good size with lots of closet space, natural light, and nice updated appliances. The patios are great as well and nicely sized. Before moving to Mariners West, our previous apartment had old thin windows. The windows we have now make all the difference. Not much outside noise to begin with, but the double pane windows are great for sound and temperature control.The kitchen is great with a ton of cabinet space and a huge island/counter. The property manager, Andrea, has been great from the start. No major issues, just a couple minor maintenance requests and she was quick to respond and follow through to make sure everything was handled right away. Enjoyed my stay at this industrial park/housing project from 40's. It is a noisy building that is in poor shape. Most units are newly remodeled, unfortunately the general workmanship is poor. Notes: - Switch at the Unit entry door was never wired to a light or switch. - Switch for each bedroom .. never wired to a light or switch. - Both sink lights, bathroom light are switch and function. - Never painted the bathroom after replacing original fan with a newer (also loud) model. [Note: The fan is LOUD because it is not VENTED to the outside, I know, I installed the same model NuTone in my own house and you can't ever hear the fan when it is properly installed]. - Outdoor porch lamp is not switched (I replace the outlet cover from one I had laying around as original one was broken). Management is joke (over 1 year and they still couldn't manage to put my name on the front access or give me a code to my own building). Also only provided one set of keys ... so I made duplicates -- Bonus: Home Depot is a short walk. Noise, noise, noise. Single pane windows don't close properly. Casual conversions go right through the walls. Every car entering the garage and car doors come through clear as day. Not to mention the people on the floor above ... every damn foot step. All. Day. Long. Cold, expensive to heat ... again - single pane windows don't close properly - Electric hit $400.00/month in winter, yeah sure I *could* ask my wife to freeze but *why should have to*? Old. Old. Old. building. No insulation and the WINDOWS DON"T SHUT. None of the phone jacks are wired. As a bonus I used the dummy covers between the living and the bedroom to pass the Ethernet cable through, was easier that updating the jacks anyway. Finally moved out and management held back the deposit for painting and cleaning the carpets. I assume the painting they charged is for the bathroom *that they never did when the replaced the fan* (To replace the fan the changed the fan opening and the electric from a 3 gang to a single gang so taping, rocking and painting was required ... however that would require painting the bathroom and since were were out of town for 3 weeks, clearly that was not enough time to finish. Otherwise we cleaned up, wiped down the walls and vacuumed. Aren't they *required* to shampoo the carpets anyway? Better some of my deposit back than none. The new ground floor laundry + bike shed will have to be better than the nasty closet machines on floors 1 and 3. Yep, 2 coin machines for each 24 apartments in a nasty little room. For rent approaching 3000 you would expect they at least would have in room laundry .. but the reality is the buildings are far too old to bring up to anything resembling code. The Urov Family way overpaid for some tear down commercial real-estate, glad I'm not stuck in their cash strapped money pit. FPI Managment paid 10m, Urov's paid 16m. 6m in less than a year? For less than a dozen of 48 renos? 16m on 400k income? People, please ... do you homework on a fast flip and CHECK THE NUMBERS. TL:DR Good: Comcast is fast (Got 50MB sustained). And cheap. Area is safe. Walls between apartments appear to be sound proofed. Bad: Building is poor shape, foundation is sagging, floors are warped. Owners overpaid and have to pass their bad judgement onto you. Management is clearly incompetent. Floors are not insulted for noise. Reno is pretty but quality is poor. Luxury fails: Kitchen sink faucet, bath fixtures, cabinets and sinks -- are all the lowest cost items at Hope Depot. Appliances are stainless exterior finish, but again the lowest cost version you can buy. * 2 starts cause the location is better than the other side of the bridge. read more

I recently moved out of the apartments at 730 Mariners Island Blvd, San Mateo, CA, and everything that was wrong with the prior building management and the building itself has been resolved or is in the process of getting upgraded. I had a conversation with the new Manager, and it looks like he and his team have changed the overall look and feel of the units. They are professional, structured, and clearly have experience running these types of properties. The location is great, right near Bridge Point Shopping Center (Target, Sports Authority, Home Depot, Bed Bath, Toysrus, to name a few), the Bay Trail is also near by for biking, walking, and jogging. The apartment complex is very close to 101 and 92 San Mateo Bridge, so if your commute is to San Jose, or San Francisco, CalTrain and Millbrae BART is also near by as well. The new management team has always treated me respectfully and gave me ample notice prior to any work being done to my specific unit, or the surround parking lot and common areas. If I were looking for an apartment, I would definitely consider Mariner's Island West in the future. read more

We have lived here for over a year now and have loved every second of it. For starters, the location is perfect. We're walking distance from the Bridgepoint Shopping Center, a 10 minute walk from the bay trail, and the complex is right on the water. The apartment itself was recently renovated and has the latest in appliances, flooring, and counter tops. Furthermore, we're in the 800+ sqft one bedroom apartment and the layout is ideal! We have a very spacious kitchen (larger than most in the area for the same price), large bedroom, and open living area. Even the balcony is massive. While the price point of our apartment is similar to those nearby, the value for what we pay for is unmatched. We looked at a lot of apartments before finding this gem, and the second we stepped in the door we knew we found our home. If a spot opens up in this apartment complex I recommend you jump on applying. It is the best apartment I've ever lived in the bay area and would love to stay here for many years to come. read more

I moved here with my significant other in June 2014 and lived here for about 1.5 years. We originally chose the place because of its proximity to my workplace (I could walk there, so we'd only need one car). It was an easy decision, as the unit was newly renovated, had a huge balcony, was in a quiet and safe area, close to parks, and allowed our 35 lb dog. To echo the other reviews, building management is great, and my one complaint is all the renovation going on. Most of the time you'd get a heads up if they were doing something in/around your unit, but a few times I came home to see workers on/around the balcony. All in all, this is the best apartment I've lived in and only moved out as we bought a house nearby. If we ever decide to go back to apartments, I'd definitely move back here. read more

We cannot recommend this place at all. We signed a lease and notified the owner less than 24hrs later that we can't move there anymore due to my job relocating me and my family. Owner promised to help and find a replacement tenant so they posted an add on craigslist but of course asking for more rent that what we are going to pay. How is that fair? Of course they couldn't find new tenants so after a month they asked us to pay another few thousand dollars cancellation fee to get out of the lease. A cancellation fee which doesn't even exist in the lease! You are either going to pay a few more thousand dollars to get out or the owner will lock you in for your entire lease term. We ended up paying to get out of the lease which we didn't like at all and it was probably not legal since it wasn't stated in the lease. They cashed the cancellation fee check within 24hrs but we had to wait weeks to get our security deposit back for an apartment we never moved in to. Another funny thing, after we gave them the cancellation check (which was considered another month rent) next day somebody moved in the apartment. Now the owner made double rent for the same unit. How greedy can you be. Never again! read more

As a resident for over a year, I highly recommend this place. The unit I lived in was a highly satisfactory and spacious 1BR with an updated kitchen and bathroom. The management is great and responsive to small issues that arose, and the payment system for rent is all online/easy. I've also really enjoyed the location - I've had to commute to Palo Alto and Menlo Park, and the location here allows me to take either 280 or 101 down based on whatever is shortest at the moment. Its also super easy to get to the airport. The area is peaceful/quiet, while still being super close too to a Trader Joes, Costco, and Bridgepoint Shopping Center. Great place to live! read more

I lived in one of the 1 bedroom apartments over two years, and recently moved out. When I first moved in, the rent was $1250 - an awesome deal. I admit, initially the complex wasn't much to admire with old hallway carpeting, furniture and fixtures. The apartment itself was nice for the price. What mattered more was the neighborhood. The neighborhood is quiet, clean and surrounded by nice town homes with views of the slough (water canals). I soon discovered that I can walk to the BridgePointe Plaza (frozen yogurt, Marshalls and Target) and go on walks along the slough (plenty of people walking their dogs). It's gorgeous during both the day and night!! In the vicinity, there's also Tidelands Park and a separate dog park. Prior to it being purchased, I'm sure the previous owners purposely were doing the bare minimum to maintain the properties. The new owners did a really nice job in the end of updating the complex with a fresh, modern style, repaved driveways and new appliances. Jeremiah, the community director is very professional and addresses your requests in a timely manner. I really enjoyed living here and would recommend the community as a place to call home. read more

I have been a resident here in a one bedroom since April 2013. The apartments are being recently renovated as I was told they would be when I moved in, and it really looks great. The rent here is NOT cheap. But the area is nice, quiet and the management is very responsive. Jeremiah is the new manager and he does a great job. Any issues are dealt with promptly. I've lived here for a while, and I wish I could stay. A wonderful place to live, and I would move back if I relocate to the area again. Most units overlook the water on the lagoon and there are two pools (one for quiet with a jacuzzi and one larger one for laps or BBQs). Also a great gym. I gave up my paid gym membership when I moved in. The owners have taken great care to maintain and upgrade the units. New kitchens, new carpets and flooring, new appliances. They are building new laundry rooms and putting in new machines. Parking is covered and secure and I never heard any noise for cars (or from my neighbors). The area is perfectly located for getting to work (jump onto 92 and the San Mateo Bridge or 280; or get on 101). Within walking distance of Bridgepoint Shopping (Starbucks, Target, etc) and very close to the Seal Point park on the Bay. We used to walk over to the Fish Market on the lagoon for dinner and drinks. Great place to live if you are on your own, if you are a couple or if you have a kid. The team who run the place provided everything that I asked for. Couldn't be happier. read more

Wife and I have lived here with our dog for the past 2 years. During that time, the ownership/management had changed, so initially we were skeptical of how things would transition. Luckily for us, everything went smoothly and we ended up being in even better hands. Minor issues were handled promptly, announcements always made well in advance of necessary work, grounds are kept clean, appliances and finishings were modernized, and Brian our manager was/is consistently looking to make improvements to the complex's living conditions. Speaking of...Brian is always accessible should you need anything, which we found greatly comforting. Our neighbors have been the most pleasant of people we have encountered since relocating to the bay area, and I find that management seeks to find tenants that best fit this mold. Stay away from this apartment! This apartment was good until it was sold to FPI Management (Folsom, CA). You can google the FPI Management (Folsom, CA), check the reviews, and you will know how bad they are. As soon as they bought the apartment, they started evicting 6 tenants every 2 months, and trying to increase the other tenants' rent by a crazy rate (10% - 30%). They frequently enter the apartments to do their minor "upgrades" like changing the light bulbs, even without permissions. The manager has the keys to open your door for the contractors. read more

After looking at many places we chose this and we are so glad. Comparable apartments are found at higher and lower prices for the rent but the options on most were higher. Their pet deposit is a bit lower and water/garbage/sewer as well. The apartment is totally renovated! Nicely done! The unit has 1 bathroom but it has a vanity and sink in the master which helps a lot. The view is great, it is quiet and plenty of parking. The manager, Jeremiah, is very easy to deal with, very responsive and very available with a smile. He is always around and works late hours. Good storage free in the underground carport. I have no complains but perhaps a couple of suggestions: Add laundry inside the units and accept credit cards, without adding a fee! read more

Brian is very nice and friendly, I was very happy to live here for almost 2 years and since Brian took over management, well things got even better. Mariners is an idea location for many reasons - close to major freeways for easy commute options, yet tucked away in a quiet location close to the water and across from a park. Overall the grounds and building are well kept and clean. The manager on site is very helpful and responsive to any issues that arise. He also listens to concerns and recommendations for improvements. The apartments have all been recently renovated with granite countertops, pergo floors and nice fixtures. Just rented a newly renovated unit at Mariners West. I looked around a lot before leasing here. Having seen what else is out there, these are by far the nicest apartments in the Foster City neighborhood that the property is located in. I read some of the lesser reviews, but frankly, my guess is these were just disgruntled previous tenants who were paying ridiculously low rents in the past and are simply out of touch with reality. My experience has been very positive so far and I'm so happy to have a completely new apartment with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors. My wife and I found this place online while we were looking to relocate from the east coast to the bay area. We had originally planned to look for apartments in several different locations around foster city/redwood coast but we settled on Mariners West almost immediately after finding it due to the niceness of the location as well as the helpfulness of our realtor. Andrea was very informative and stayed late last night to send us videos showcasing the entire apartment in the evening due to us having no time to tour onsite. At 5:30 in the morning, she promptly got back to us when we had further questions and helped us sort everything out throughout the morning. We are planning to move in a week but so far, we are extremely impressed with the dedication and work ethic of our realtor and the entire process was very convenient. This is not to say that we have experience living here but our impression of the staff has been very positive. read more

Brian, the resident manager is not exactly truthful. In our email correspondence he led me to believe that the 680 sq ft 1 bedroom apt is $2,500. Not true, $50 utilities are added to the base rent of every apt. and the 1 bdrm for $2,500 is actually a 540 sq ft junior 1 bdrm! The remodeled interior and current work on the exterior can't hide the very old, rotting exterior. Narrow hallways and small carport with a joke of a storage area that's above, not ground level. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time, I found out too late but you don't have to. Also, look at Google & other reviews because they tell the truth, looks to me like Brian pays Yelpers to write these positive, untruthful reviews! read more

This building was recently purchased by a company called FPI (Folsom, CA). The new owners evicted most of the tenants that live in the corner units on November 1. Does this give you a big hint of what these people are like --evicting tenants just before the holidays? 30 days later, they raised everyone's rent by 10%. The landlord who they are trying to "polish up" by referring to him as the "Community Manager" told the tenants that the goal is to raise the rent $800-$900 dollars per month. The first "improvement" they made was to change all the lighting in the hallways and garage to the brightest flourescent lights you can imagine. They cause headaches and really make the filthy rug and all the chips on the wall and the filthy hallways even more obvious in their disrepair. "Lipstick on a Pig" comes to mind. For those tenants that were unfortunate enough to not be evicted yet; the new owners continue with the audacity to raise the rent while entering the apartments, regularly, to work on minor upgrades. Slowly marching to that "Eyeshadow on a Pig?" Tenants pay rent to have a peaceful space to inhabit, not to live with the constant intrusion upon their living space.
