My partner and I lived here for three years, and would have stayed if we hadn't decided to move to the city. It was the best apartment experience we had in Redwood City. The facilities are impeccably maintained for a building that was opened in 2016. Having the property manager (yay Julie!) and facilities manager (yay Osvaldo!) live onsite makes a massive difference and it is very apparent in the quality and cleanliness of the common areas. Parking is included in the rent for a 1br, and there is secure package and bike storage. The appliances are nice; we only seldom needed to submit maintenance requests, and Osvaldo responded, and often resolved, the issues within 24 hours. Bing bang boom. There was an incident involving false fire alarms being activated multiple times across multiple weeks that has since been resolved. It was a stressful time for everyone involved but Julie did her best and at the end of the day the repairs appeared to be outside of her control. Rates for security deposit and other fees are reasonable for what they provide. I could go on and on (their tenant events, their small but mighty 24/7 gym) but that might make me miss it too much. Take an in-person tour here but keep in mind units go fast, and for good reason. Their rating is well-deserved and if I ever relocate back to the Peninsula it'd be hard to stay away. I lived here for almost 2 years, although it was the most expensive apartment I've ever had it was worth it due to the staff alone. Julie and Osvaldo are an amazing pair - any time I needed a fix in my unit I would schedule a time for Osvaldo to come by and he would come and fix whatever needed fixing. He's super nice and I'm thankful he was constantly around! My unit rarely needed much fixing in the first place. He always said hi to me and my dog lol They do a great job keeping this complex clean, I always see the custodian cleaning 1-2 times a week at least. They have a small hot tub where the outdoor dining bbq pit is, although I've never gone in I have used the grill a couple times. They also have a community room on the first floor where you can entertain guests and in that room there's a complementary printer which I really appreciated because who has their own printer nowadays? They probably hosted 1-2 community events with food since I've lived there, and it was nice to get to know your neighbors. I really liked the people in this community it's mostly young working professionals and most people are really nice and respectful of others, luckily I didn't have any annoying neighbors above me or anything. Mail is super safe, and packages get delivered in the package room where it's locked up with a code. I like that the community feels secure. You also can't beat the location as it's walking distance to cal train and downtown Redwood City! There garage parking was two levels and always felt secure to me, I've never had a break in or anything. If you have guests they can park on Brewster street there's usually parking or they can park in front or in the metered spots for free on Sundays! I would 10/10 recommend Locale, I called this place home and I do miss it here! read more

My wife and I have lived at Locale for the last ~2 years and it has been the best rental experience we have ever had by far. The building is impeccably maintained with an awesome security system for guests / deliveries, the staff are all super friendly and helpful, the location is so convenient with easy access to downtown Redwood City and 101 and the unit itself (530) was incredible - really high vaulted ceilings, tons of natural light, modern appliances (e.g. bathroom mirrors have Bluetooth speakers!), and we had zero issues with anything in the unit. As an added plus, if anything does go awry, the maintenance manager lives in the building and is very responsive. We will miss living here a lot and would have absolutely stayed we weren't moving to another city. Save your money and look elsewhere. Noisy - The walls are thin, and the ceiling even more. Living here feels like sharing a house with an entire family of 4-5 or even 7 people. You hear TV, music, chatting, etc. We would accommodate some noise at day time, that's understandable. But some neighbors don't respect quite hours. TV has to be loud late at night, they don't care and there's little to no respect of community rules. Management doesn't enforce these rules either: they'd rather let tenants suffer than give noisy people a notice that they have to respect the rules. To make matters worse, the fire alarms that they have installed throughout are extremely sensitive and are mistakenly triggered at least a few times every quarter. There have been numerous instances where the fire alarm has rang incessantly for HOURS. If you find that hard to believe, do yourself a favor and peruse the Redwood City FD log (https://beta.firedispatch.com/log#) -- it's all there. Not being able to get a good night's sleep started affecting our work, etc, and in the end it was untenable. Dirty - Looks can be deceiving. Although the aesthetics look appealing, beneath that thin veneer lies a rotting core. I've lost count of the number of times the elevator door would open and there would be a pool of dog piss (occasionally poop). Who are these people that leave that in the elevator? Also the supposedly lovely roof top deck that's supposed to be a nice amenity constantly has dog poop. EVERYWHERE. It's truly repulsing. read more

I've lived at Locale for almost 3 years after previously living for a couple of years at a different high amenity apartment complex in Redwood City. I have nothing but good to say about the Locale property and management of same. Locale is owned by a local company and the property manager lives on site, to the benefit of residents. Locale is clean, safe and well maintained. The courtyard, rooftop patio, club room and fitness center are all super nice. I am fortunate to have a ground floor unit with a private patio adjacent to the courtyard, which is pleasant and quiet. The cost of utilities has been much fairer at Locale than at the other apartment complex I lived at. The way mail and packages are delivered/securely stored at Locale is well done. 5 stars! read more

But let's go back to the beginning - My fiancé and I learned that we were going to be relocating to the Bay Area from sunny South Florida & I was all about this move - I always knew that I was meant to be a California Girl! We have moved from state to state several times now and knew we would only have two {maybe three} days to fly to our new destination and go apartment hunting. We had done our research and knew that we wanted to be in the Redwood City, San Mateo, Palo Alto area as it was going to be close to his new office. After seeing the cute downtown area in RWC {Redwood City}, we knew it was where we wanted to be - We like convenience and all of the communities in RWC are walk-able to everything - downtown, local boutiques and grocery stores {Whole Foods & Safeway} and fantastic restaurants. Plus, 101 is a hop, skip and jump away. Upon arriving in CA for of weekend trip of apartment hunting, we had a list of the communities that we wanted to see. We had toured and toured and toured - and even though we saw absolutely beautiful communities in the area, there wasn't a place that wow'ed us enough to want to call it home - Then we found Locale. As soon as we walked in, Audra greeted us with a warm welcome and a friendly smile. She took the time to show us several apartments (and even circled back so that we were able to see some of the same ones for a second time) - Her patience and welcoming personality immediately made me feel comfortable and knew we would be well taken care of if we ended up choosing Locale. As soon as we finished with Audra, my fiancé and I just looked at each other and said "this is it"! It felt like home. From the tour to the move in process to the actual day of move in, Audra and Julie {the fantastic Community Manager} were right on point and made sure the move was as seamless as possible. And after meeting Ileana {their amazing Leasing Specialist}, Osvaldo {the phenomenal Maintenance Supervisor} and the rest of the Maintenance team - I knew we picked the right spot. Each and everyone of the team members makes you feel right at home, is very communicative with anything happening with the community, keeps the building spotless at all times, gets to know you on a personal level {you're not just another apartment number} and goes above and beyond to be sure the residents are nothing but happy in their home. They truly have The A Team! The apartments are absolutely beautiful - Light wood cabinetry, soft grey wood flooring, grey granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and large walk-in closets. They have several different floor plans to choose from - Studios, one and two bedrooms - Each one has it's own special feature of what makes it unique {personally..the built in wine storage was a huge seller}. We chose a 1 bedroom {The Hamilton}, on the second floor with an exterior facing view and we could not have been more pleased with our choice. We loved that the space was so peaceful - Aside from running into a neighbor or two from time to time in the elevator, it was so quiet and serene - The perfect place to come home after a long day at work. If amenities are your thing, Locale has that covered as well - Fantastic gym, beautiful Clubroom, an outdoor courtyard decked out with corn hole & a gorgeous Rooftop Deck {w/ a hot tub, two TV's, a grill, plenty of comfy lounge chairs and a shuffle board table} - We spend tons of time soaking up the sun on the Rooftop Deck. Common areas are beautifully decorated for each season {think.. Christmas tree's, Scarecrows, Pumpkins} and the Locale team hosts a number of events {Brunch, Fight Night, Holiday Parties & Breakfast on the Go.. just to name a few} for the opportunity to get to know your neighbors - Such a wonderful idea! Sadly, we recently had to leave Locale and relocate a bit closer to our new offices {the Bay Area commute from RWC to San Jose was killing us}. Otherwise, we would have stayed at Locale for the duration of our time in Cali. Lived here for about a year and I absolutely loved it! The whole Locale team, especially Julie and Osvaldo, are very helpful and made my time there very pleasant. The community has the perfect amount of amenities (small gym, lounge with printer, rooftop deck, to name a few) and the units themselves are great. The appliances are pretty new, storage is plentiful, and each unit comes with a Nest thermostat. My favorite part was the smart mirror in the bathroom! When I was searching for apartments in the area, I found that Locale was one of the only communities that included a parking spot with the unit, which was a huge plus. I rarely heard noise from adjacent units and the only complaint I had was that construction was sometimes noisy across the street, but there isn't much that can be done about that anyways. read more

Very close to 101 freeway, Costco, and Kaiser hospital. Metered street parking's enforced Mon-Sat from 10am to 6pm but there's free non-metered parking as well. The 1-bedroom is amazing and spacious while the 2-bedroom's on the small side especially if you don't live in the master. The property's so new and clean. Each apartment has washer/dryer and dishwasher. There's a BBQ area and a small jacuzzi on the roof. The courtyard has cornhole boards. The fitness center could've been larger and I wish there were a swimming pool. Pet-friendly but only if you paid a pet deposit. read more

I moved to California from the east coast last summer, and took a chance on Locale without ever seeing the place, based on its glowing yelp reviews. And my experience here has been dope, so I thought I'd carry forward the helpfulness of others. Convenient! the building is located a 5 minute walk from the Redwood City Caltrain station, which is a hub for the Caltrain. If you work at Stanford, you can take a 6 minute bullet train, and step off the platform and hop onto one of Stanford's many shuttle buses. Excellent option to avoid traffic. Importantly, the building is far enough away that I have never been bothered or awakened by the train. It's also a 5 minute walk to a small shopping center behind the train station, that has a Safeway, CVS, Whole Foods, and Starbucks. Finally, about the same distance away is RWC downtown, with a movie theater, city center where there are concerts and movies, and a bunch of cute restaurants. Lots of workout places nearby. Also easy to get on the highway Well constructed! Nothing flimsy about the way this building was made. Excellent interior, including dishwasher and washer/dryer. Can only occasionally hear a neighbor. It feels really spacious and well designed. Management Julie, the building manager, is super responsive, helpful, and professional. From the time that I was freaking about getting a place to live from across the country, I have been impressed by her diligence and obvious mastery of her job. Since then, she's helped me out without question when I've been out of town or at work and needed people let into my apartment. Once, she went above and beyond by bringing flowers that had been delivered to me into my apartment, so they wouldn't die while I was out of town. I came home to find them in a vase with water in it! There are also nice, thoughtful little touches like holiday and seasonal decorations and treats in the building. 3. Parking is included! 4. Neighbors seem like mostly young professionals who are quiet and respectful. 5. There is a gym that has everything you need for a workout. It's very clean! A little small but does the job 6. There's a nice package center for both incoming and outgoing packages. There's also a big fridge, which is nice if you belong to a monthly food delivery service. I was looking for an apartment in Redwood City and contacted them to get on their waiting list. Each time they had something available, Audra faithfully contacted me by phone and email to see if the apartment was something I was interested in. I was very picky on the floorplan layout, if the apartment was facing inside/outside, what floor it was on, etc. and Audra was so patient and stayed in contact with me for months trying to find the right fit for me. Everything is nice and new and produced with tasteful detail. The staff is friendly and accommodating and I'm really enjoying my place. Additionally, the place provides a skilled handyman, Osvaldo, who I found to be gracious, professional, timely, and extremely helpful. He mounted my TV for me at no cost, and has been back several times to help me hang paintings and mirrors. He genuinely wants to help make you comfortable in your home and is always there to help out with anything within the apartment. My Husband and I recently moved from Seattle to Redwood City and when we were apartment shopping while we were living in Seattle we had phoned many apartments in San Francisco and surrounding suburbs. When we called Locale we spoke with Julie and she was nothing short of amazing. She answered all of our questions and concerns. As we were driving to Redwood City we were in contact with Ileana numerous times. She was awesome helping us set up times to come view the apartments and updating us on which units were available. When we finally arrived Ileana took us on a tour of the building and the units open for lease. We already had decided that we were going to lease at Locale strictly based on the incredible customer service that we received from Julie and Ileana. The beautiful building and modern units were just a bonus. As we were signing our lease Audra was there answering questions that we had, she is also so fantastic! Osvaldo is the maintenance supervisor and although we haven't had to call maintenance because the apartment is perfect he is always so friendly and welcoming, telling us about new and exciting things happening with the apartment. I moved in as the building opened up, earlier this year. I waited to give any review the benefit of experience as to both the leasing process thru the office as well as three months in residence. So, here we go... The two agents in the office: Julie and Audra have been wonderful to work with, from day one. It's great to have the continuity of dealing with the rental and sign up procedure and have those same persons living here on site taking care of business. Very reassuring! I have a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor with one of the outdoor patios, which is a real plus. Pricing of the apartment is in line with a lot of the other buildings in Redwood City. They made it worth my while to move in here, rather than any of the other 5 places I looked at. I'm very glad that they did. BTW move in was a snap. There were no endless delays waiting on the elevator on move in day, as occurred in my last place. There have been a couple of events hosted here and while I am not a big party animal, it was very useful to meet my neighbors in a fun comfortable manner. Kudos to the duo of Julie and Audra! I have only been living in Locale for a weeks but so far I have nothing but good things to say. I moved from Florida and had to find a place over the internet without visiting; however, since I found Locale and touched base with the property manager Julie, it has been nothing but a great and stress free experience. The units and common spaces are beautiful with bike storage and parking provided along with a 24 hour gym. The building is two blocks away from the Redwood City downtown area making Locale walking distance from all the restaurants and cafes. I called them to inquire about the availability of both 1bed and 2 bed apartments today. A 'Ileana' (hope I am spelling the name right) picked up my call. She was sighing so heavily on the phone that I actually thought she was super bored/tired to even pick up the phone! I said 'Hey, I am interested in knowing more about your 1bed and 2 bed apartments'. Her immediate reaction was 'oh, we have no availability'!! ??!!!! She didn't even ask me what time frame I was looking at and that was the reaction!! First ding. Locale apparently has no 1or 2 bed apartments available between now and March!! Really weird. Second ding. Ileana wanted to follow up by March first week even when I specified that the timeline we were looking at was between now and Feb first week. She was clearly not paying any attention whatsoever. Third ding. With that, I'll take my business elsewhere. Thank you for warning me ahead of time, Locale! read more
