The play structure was boarded up for a while, there are a lot of homeless people here and it's just old and outdated. We have been to the new pickleball courts lately and if we're lucky, there are open spots, but sometimes people bring their whole crew there and are there for hours. Also, beware of dog poop -- a lot of irresponsible dog owners don't pick up after their dogs so watch where you are walking. This park has potential, it's just people don't respect it enough. There are a lot of options such as: soccer, basketball, picnic areas, tennis, pickleball, a play structure, walking path, etc, but it is not the cleanest park.

Dogs ok on a leash. I think different activities and classes are offered here although I never went to those. The park is open and has some street frontage which I like. More hidden parks that go deep with no public visibility I tend to enjoy less. Long ago there were some homeless that lived under the overhang of the library next door. They put up a very tall metal fence to keep them out. Again, its a great park but there are some problems with it. A good place to go if you live nearby. Although it has lots of offerings I don't think they would get somebody to drive miles to get to them.

Stepping into the house from the front door, the energy felt warm and welcoming. It almost felt as though the family was still there. Maybe the past is the present. I was lucky to have the house to myself- I was told the house docent would arrive shortly . Natural light pouring through the old windows was lovely. As I wandered about, I could hear agitated footsteps from upstairs, so I did not go to the second floor, but instead entertained myself with exploring all the downstairs. I was drawn to a beautiful painting on the wall of a woman with her horse in the front room. As I was looking at the painting my sweater pocket was gently tugged not once but twice. Inside the pocket was my lemon honey cough drops. ‍ If you want to experience a quieter peaceful time before "progress" changed Hayward you will enjoy the tour. Any funds that they make on these tours or events goes to the care of the two historic mansions. The house docents are lovely and share the family history in such a way they come alive. If you have wondered what the inside of this grand old dame looks like you will enjoy seeing for yourself on the second Saturday of the month 10am to 2 pm. Enjoy.

This museum tells the history of San Leandro, with murals, exhibits, and photographs!! With my introduction to the SL Player's performance of Agatha Christie's Mousetrap, I cannot wait to return to see what mystery they have in store for us next season. Since this is a community theater with a limited budget, chairs are just stackable chairs put out for the performance but once you are immersed in the storyline unfolding before you, you won't even care.

The Senior clients were in Awe and were grateful to the school and myself for arranging such a wonderful celebration to cheer them up. I love that!! The whole year I was there, we did the same Tahitian dance the whole time which was the same routine they had been doing for quite some time. They made us stand in lines and the better dancers were in the front line by the mirrors. We never rotated the lines so if you were new, you never saw yourself in the mirror to know if you were doing the moves right or wrong and no one ever told you. I don't think my Tahitian dancing got much better in a year. You also had to memorize Island facts and would get tested on them. This could be interesting but since I had such a busy schedule with work, I did not have time to memorize them. I was more interested in learning how to dance than what mountians were on what islands. There are some really nice adults at this halau though. They would teach you how to make your own costumes for performances. It has been a few years since I danced at this halau so maybe things have changed.
