Meh... I know it's a Dayton "institution," but it's TOOOOOO busy/crowded, and on a Saturday night (I do understand that's a BUSY time...) it almost gave me AGITA as I waited for my mediocre order to come through. Stand ON line (yep, I'm a pesky New Yorker...) and appreciate the semi "well-oiled machine" which is the ordering process here. Unless you're a regular and know exactly what you want, you'd better get a menu, because once it's your turn, you've got a split millisecond to place your order and move aside for the next hungry patron. Service is good/efficient, and you take a step back to wait for your pizza, or attempt to find a table in the HUGE dining area that's AWASH in a SEA of people who seem to appreciate this place a lot more than I did... Go wait on a second line to get your drink and then HOPE you hear you number called for your order. I did NOT hear my number, even though I was standing practically in front of the counter... NOT directly in front, as the harried, overworked cashier (manager?) who begged us not to stand in the most obvious (only available) waiting area. My 9" cheese pizza and "deluxe" dinner salad (no extra veggies that I could see under the MOUND of cheeeese) were "fine," but truly nothing "special." Yep, I'm a NY pizza snob, but I'm willing to try almost anything once, and while the TON of people working here get an A for effort, the HUGE crowd STUFFED into the large, airless dining hall, so-so food and assembly line production are not something I see myself rushing back to experience again. I'm glad the group that I came with gave me the opportunity to see what I'm NOT really missing....

Wow. Talk about a blast from the past! I'm going to guess that this restaurant looks pretty much identical to what it looked like when it originally opened, inside and out. Signage, layout, vast dining room with like forty 4-seat tables, and brick arches galore. Kinda felt like going up to the snack bar at a bowling alley to order. Of course this can be bad or good as a throwback kind of vibe. One of those, I know exactly what I'm getting every time vibes. That said, the Dayton Style pizza is pretty on point. Thin, crispy, square cut, bite sized pieces. Another thing that looks dated is the style of sausage they use. It looks like it was extruded through a spaghetti machine. Not necessarily good or bad, just different, but honestly kinda weird. I'm d go back if I was ever back around one, I just usually am driving through (not stopping) when in the Dayton area though.

I stopped in for lunch today with some coworkers and the pizza and atmosphere was great. I opted for a 9" (small) pizza with pepperoni and black olives and it so delicious I ate the whole thing. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back.

    A "DELUXE" pizza

Ordered a large deluxe. See photo below. For over $22 they maybe used 1/16 of a bell pepper and 1/16 of an onion. Ordered salads with cheese. No cheese. Drove 30 mins to pickup and when I got home, this is what I had. Customer service is terrible when I called back. They told me to call their main office for a refund. I'll never order from their establishment ever again.

I have eaten Marion's Piazza since I was young child. I lived two blocks from the Dixie Road Restaurant until my family moved to Florida. Every time I visit Dayton to see family, I go to Marion's Piazza. It's an institution, I must eat a Marion's Supreme Piazza. There's nothing like it. Thin and crispy, most of all delicious.

I love getting this pizza when we are in Dayton. It's always a super quick turn around from ordering to pickup, regardless of how busy it is. The Supreme pizza is the one to go for. Personally, I opt for no black olives and think it's much better. The star of the topping is the shredded sausage that they put on. Its melt in your mouth crumbly. They slice this pizza into squares and it makes the undesirable middle pieces perfect little bites.

    Sausage Pizza

The unique thing about Marion's is the sausage. Ever had a Totino's Party pizza? The sausage on those things is a finely crumbled, almost hamburger-like texture. Well, Marion's has a nicer version of that same sort of thing. I emphasize nicer, because this is much better than a $2 frozen pizza. What I just wrote is either going to intrigue or repulse you. I very much liked it, and encourage you to keep and open mind.

Not sure why I thought they would get my order right this time. I ordered an Italian sub with extra sauce. When I picked up the order I asked the guy who checked me out if it had extra sauce and his reply was it should but I don't know if they put it in it not. Needless to say they put less sauce on than usual. if you can get a simple request correct I give up.

Delicious pizza and cold beer !

I haven't been here in about 12 years. I didn't remember how the ordering went with drinks and food. My husband and I walked over to the drink counter first and told the guy working that counter, we wanted to place an order. His response was so rude and arrogant with him telling us we order food "over there" and drinks with him. He went to turn around expecting us to go to the food counter first. We need food and drink. So I told him we would go ahead and order drinks first. He was so annoyed and initially made my memory of this place a bad one. We then ordered the pizza. When it came out and ate it, it was just as I remembered. The young man working that counter was FAR more friendly too! If you want good pizza and don't care about the rude, bothered drink man, then come here.

But, while you're in the area, you need to eat. We were looking for Italian, and the Yelp reviews led us here. It's a small not-a-chain Italian restaurant. The ambiance isn't why you go, it's the great food! I say that because there are only 3 tables inside that can seat 4 or 5 people maximum. And it's not fancy looking. But the pizza was excellent. My adult daughter declared it was the best pizza she'd had in a couple of decades. And she's a picky eater. We all enjoyed the pizza. A especially nice touch is that they have a bulletin board where people have pre-paid for meals for people who can't afford to eat. If you are in that situation, you walk in, choose a receipt, and take it to the counter to get your free meal. It obviously hadn't been abused, as there were at least a dozen pre-paid receipts there. We really liked that community service aspect. But the only reason I'm writing this review (after the fact; sorry I didn't get photos) is that the pizza was great and the cost was also great. We highly recommend them!

Garlic gnotd were fluffy moist on the inside and nicely baked on the outside. The staff was all so nice! We definitely will be adding them to our regular choice board for our family!

Having never been there we just relied on the small amount of yelp reviews and our phone call to the business - which the business owner leaving us feeling very confident in our order and in our decision to go with this place without having tried their food. We were not disappointed. I am unsure why there aren't more yelp reviews here, this place is great. I want everyone to try them. Service is simply impeccable and the family owned business and passion is demonstrated in everything from the ordering process to the actual quality of the food. Now, getting to the food, the portions are quite hearty, food is priced incredibly well. We ordered two types of pasta - the baked ziti and the chicken Alfredo. Both were incredibly fresh and delicious. We ate our leftovers for days and the quality was still great, food still tasted fresh. We got salad and that was just filled with fresh ingredients, it's very rare for a salad to pull you in, but this one just looked so good you had to have some. They gave plenty of dressing too. My last comment is just for the garlic knots. Left us completely speechless.....they were the star of the show. Just absolutely so good, you know they can't be that good if you're trying to keep a diet, but you can't help but want more. This place is not far out of Dayton, I want everyone to know about it! We had a great experience and I wish we lived closer so we could have some more garlic knots more often!!
