Been craving Portuguese chicken and Mario's BBQ did not disappoint. I ordered the half grilled chicken dinner with spicy sauce and it came with 2 sides. I chose rice and roasted vegetables, however they also had options for potatoes, steamed vegetables, greek/garden/macaroni salad and fava beans. The chicken was very tender and had a very aromatic barbeque flavour; expected nothing less as they use a rotating grill for their chicken. I asked for spicy sauce and although it was somewhat spicy, it had a more sour taste to it. Nice neighborhood portuguese chicken spot. I am unsure what has happened but the price increase does not match the quality of food nowadays. The rice felt hard and chicken a bit dry. The peri peri sauce and potato balls helped carry the meal and gave it good flavor. It feels expensive nowadays for a takeout option. read more

Went back and the chicken is now $15.95. They have the hot sauce in a bottle for about $6.75 plus tax. I come here fir the hot sauce. Great fir wings. It tastes like butter hot sauce. The chicken itself is quite dry and hard. Ordered the grill chicken and it was not tender. read more

Mario's Bbq Oakville location, very bad customer service. I ordered and paid online at 11:30 am for pickup at 12 noon. At 12:10pm, order is not prepared , store is not busy, I have to wait for 5 minutes to receive my order. Guy who prepared when I came in was rude. The grilled vegetables were even burnt. I haven't been to the 5/10 location since the outbreak, but I remember that location's food being much, MUCH better. 1. I think they took the phone off the hook on a Friday night. I called about 5Xs to pre-order but I couldn't get through, phone line was busy. And while I was there, I heard the phone ring maybe once. 2. Restaurant sign wasn't lit, so being my first time at this plaza, I had to do a double-take. 3. Lady behind the counter could've been friendlier. "What do you want" type attitude which I can overlook, but... 4. Food wasn't great. Usually, I have no complaints about tasty Portuguese chicken! Rice was dry and bland. Chicken could've used more seasoning, on the dry side. Potatoes ok, but again, needed more oomph. Grilled veg was the best thing and if I say that, at a chicken place, there is something wrong. Overall, this location pales in comparison to the 5/10 where is it just absolutely bustling on a Friday night. Here, a coupla other takeouts while I waited for my food. My sister requested take out Portuguese food for our fathers birthday (today!) called ahead and placed a phone order an hour before I picked up (glad I did) When I arrived - there was barely any food left (it was past 6pm) Ordered 2 whole rotisserie chicken, large potatoes, medium rice and small steamed vegetables- + the bottle of their hot sauce (surprisingly for this amount of food they only gave me 2 small sauces - I asked for more and if they had a bigger container of hot sauce -- but they referred the bottle and ended up buying one. ) Food was still great. The oil and sauces from the chicken and potatoes (each packaged In styrofoam container leaked) so when I took it out of the bag it was dripping and wet. But Definitely will drop by again - a few weeks ago my sister bought the 1/2 chicken combo with 2 sides and small hot sauce for $10.50+tax - portion was a lot for one person it worth the price read more

We went to visit family and decided instead of going out to eat we'd just order take out and bring it back. I had asked my uncle what we should get since we were in his hood and he had mentioned a Portuguese chicken place called Mario's at Bristol and Creditview that would be good for all of us. My uncle also said that this place used to be Sita's but Mario who has another location near Dundas and Hurontario took over this place. This Mario's location however is basically take out only. I had looked online for their menu and even noticed that they had online ordering as well. The ordering had to be done by credit card if you wanted to do it online and since we just wanted to pay cash I ended up calling them and putting in our order over the phone. Basically what my uncle said was true. He was saying that we could just go there and pick it all up. I didn't understand that this place wasn't really a made to order place. They are so busy that they are constantly cooking birds and that they already have most of everything ready to go cafeteria style. When I made the call for the order and asked them when it would be ready the person on the other end said it was ready now... OK I get it now. We drive other and yes there's a lot of traffic in Mississauga around 530pm on a weekday. We get there and we're third in line to place an order. I had mentioned that we called in and while they had the order on a piece of paper they were pretty much busy helping others ahead of us and after us, others behind us. One worker behind the counter looked at our order and on the spot basically just put everything together. We went with the family meal #3 which includes 2 whole chickens, a medium salad, a medium rice and a medium potatoes. After looking at the size of the sides containers I thought we needed to add another rice. Little did I know the guy who packed the containers packed them tight and to the very top of what they could possibly hold. Sure these containers are domed lids and rectangular in shape but if there was a contest on who could put the most into these containers I swear this guy was world class. The rice was so full I had to chip away at it carefully so it wouldn't tumble off because it was a mold of the top portion of the lid, seriously. Because I also wanted some fish I had ordered another half dozen fried mackerels which were oh so good. The chicken however was great. I mean as far as Portuguese BBQ chicken goes there are many places out there but I think this place is the best I've had to date. The chicken is tasty, not dry and their sauce, they make themselves and that too is good. Their piri piri is not so runny and smooth and consistent in color. It almost looks like French dressing as it has that color but nope, it's hot sauce. As far as quality goes it's very good. Mario's put together some good options and they're not afraid to put their food on display so you can pick and choose what you like. The portions are generous. We were six and we still had left overs and the 2nd rice I thought we may have needed was barely dented. With some drinks and all it basically came out to under 80 bucks after tax. read more

This is by far the worst take out I have ever had. The service was very poor as most of the items that I wanted were not available/sold out. This is at 5 pm, so what does this place do for the rest of the night? I had to settle for the picked over fried cod , which was so bad I couldn't eat it. It was dry and hard and cold. I had to wait for 20 minutes for half a roast chicken, which when it came out, was also burned and hard and very small. They also got my order wrong and I had to go back. What a disaster. Stay away from this location! BTW this is consistent bad as this is the third time I have given this place a try. Never again. read more

This Portuguese barbecue place is great for those times when you don't feel like making meals at home. Upon walking in, you already smell delicious food being grilled or fried. The only problem here is actually deciding what to get. There are many offerings daily such as different types of fried or grilled fish (sea bass, mackarel, cod etc.), grilled squid, bbq chicken of course, cod mix, fried battered shrimp or cod balls. There are also sides such as grilled vegetables (zucchini, peppers, mushrooms), steamed vegetables (cauliflower, carrots), potatoes to name a few that you can include as part of a combo or buy it separately. There are plenty of options for everyone - even my family members who have several allergies and dietary restrictions can easily find something here. Prices are reasonable for the large portions that you get. Staff are polite and efficient as well with filling orders and getting orders checked out despite how busy they are all the time. They accept cash, debit and credit. There are also plenty of spots in the parking lot but it just may not be directly in front of this place since it is a busy one. The half chicken was packed in a nice hefty bag and was moist and delicious. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and the rice was great as well. The hot foot was piled up on top of the salad which made the salad warm and the hot food luke warm instead of hot. This also covered the salad in sauce from potatoes. It was not possible to eat, we needed up discarding the food. read more

Cutting chicken into pieces is an art and you have to know it Taking shears and chopping a chicken into six pieces is not how you serve it Mario's chicken had a great reputation and it is going down the drain Management needs to look into the delivery of the product before it impacts the productivity ! I used to buy at least once a week for myself and my colleagues at the office ( average of 3-4 meals ) each time. The food is so fresh and the quantity is more than enough for heavy lunch that sometimes we used to share the meal. Since 2 weeks ago, the staff has been changed and everything is changed with them. Potatoes are so little and kind of raw, rice is more than little as well. and last even the size of the chicken is changed :( I am afraid next time we buy, they will make it one side instead of 2 as well. anytime im in the mississauga area i always buy food from marios. i bought a family meal today and a side greek salad. started to eat the greek salad only to find a dime in it! i called to report this and spoke with a female who had a thick accent around 7:30pm today and she goes "oh yeah, what would you like?" i replied my money back!) she said i will have to call back tomorrow and speak with the owner, which i will do. i feel absolutely disgusted. an apology would of been the first step. i was going to take left overs for lunch tmm and now we have to disgard all this food! i defintely wont be returning. update : spoke with the owner over the phone who advised to come in for the refund. when i got there and showed him all the food that we did not eat he accused me of planting 10cents into the salad and only me back $3.00 out of the $36.00 that was spent on top of all that, the food was brought back. absolutely disgusting. if this is how i handle customers, you wont last long in business. little porkchop. i defintely DONT recommend ! read more

SUUUUUUPER RUUUUDE! The chicken is good, the rice is bland, the potatoes are too....the sauce is mediocre at best....I would stomach that, but the rudeness is beyond disgusting. And the sad thing is that if you read other reviews from other locations, seems the rudeness is pretty consistent. So if you don't mind good chicken with a generous side of salty attitude, like you owe them more than their charging, help yourself....not this girl! read more

For 20 dollars a plate of bass and rice n veggies, (that are at best a 7/10 in quality) the customer service was so poor that I would not recommend this unless you are of portuguese descent and speak it (wink wink, if you catch my drift ). Im talking no eye contact, no listening skills, not even the accurate packaging of my order.... I went it to give feedback to the female owner that served me, which was met with stonewalling and excuses that she ' doesnt have the time'- there were 2 ppl in line...yikes! I should also note that upon initial purchasing, the two men ( father and son?) that were present were also discriminating against me through ridicule in their spoken language, not knowing I understood.
