    Açaí Bowl

    This place is convenient located. We enjoyed the outside seating with views of the square. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. But most of all, the food is amazing! I highly recommend the açaí bowl

    A solid restaurant find in the heart of the gothic quarter. You don't have to go down to the beach to get some good paella. This restaurant is located in Placa Reial, so grab a seat outside if you can. The waiters were able/willing to speak in English with us which we appreciated! The restaurant has bottled water you can pay for, but won't serve tap. We started with the truffle balsamic asparagus and this was a delicious yet light start before our paella. The paella normally comes in servings of two but the kitchen was willing to work with us since I have a seafood allergy. The vegetable paella hit the spot! It was seasoned amazingly. My friend ordered the black rice seafood paella and also enjoyed that. Order a pitcher of sangria to go with your meal and you'll be set for the night!

    Lovely location especially to eat al fresco in the evening under heat lamps. The food was delicious, especially the pulpo Valencia, which was cooked perfectly; that is a must. The pan y tomatoes seem to be a staple at most restaurants and after trying it here I understand why; it has a burst of flavor. The papas are fried perfectly with hot sauce and the salad was fresh. A pitcher of sangria to wash it down. The arroz negro was a good size with seafood cooked perfectly. Just wish the rice want over cooked. Beautiful venue indoors as well!

    We had the lobster paella. Watery and full of chicken. Not recommended. Best part of the meal was the appetizer potatoes and tomato bread.

    Really really amazing food! They cook the lobster fresh right in front of you! Really great pesto sauce it has on it as well! I was impressed ! We came with a group of like 10 Of us and i called to make sure they were able to accommodate us and they were. Lovely restaurant with a cute fish tank as well! They have lobster & stuff up in front tank so you can see they cook it fresh! Amazing place can't wait to come back!

    Here is their paella, don't order

    Take a pass on this one. On the plus side, the space is beautiful. Perfect location, great design. But it is down hill from there. Service was tough. We had two servers, one was really frustrated we existed. Walked by us a dozen times while we waited over 10 mins to order drinks, and as soon as one person ordered a drink, he walked away. The other server was great, but not around as much. Most of all the food was disaapointing. The octopus tasted microwaved, with cheap smoked paprika on top. For sure the worst paella we've had in Spain, or any where else for that matter. It more resembled an under seasoned gumbo. This place looks great, but doesn't deliver.

    Monkfish ravioli great!

    After deciding not to eat at our original placa Reial choice, a waiter at a different restaurant suggested Marisc Co. We enjoyed everything from the olives to dessert!

    "Tapas": Clam and Seafood Soup

    Fantastic location and surprisingly reasonably-priced and tasty seafood!! This place is located inside Plaça Reial, where all the restaurants within the square are bustling with tourists sitting in the sun and the hosts are waving you in with their menus. This place looked like one of the better ones so we sat down in this corner with no sunlight as the place is busy and ordered. Service-wise, the place was no good. But food-wise, I was more than satisfied. Even though this place is a seafood restaurant, they claim to serve Tapas, because if you order off of the tapas menu, the portions are smaller, which is better suited for us tourists because we wanted to try everything. The tapas are really cheap actually. We ordered: - Jamon Bellota 5.90: your typical spanish cured ham - very good! - patatos bravas 3.50: roasted potato chunks with spicy dressing - great!! - chipiron 3.50: deep fried baby squid - a little too greasy for my liking. - gambas plancha 4.50: grilled prawns with shell on - fantastically dressed! - almejas 3.50: steamed/grilled clams - sooo fresh and awesome with lemon!! - crema marisco 3.90: seafood soup - small portion, no actual seafood. It was decent. - olivas 2.50: olives - as they should taste - coke 2.00 - cafe americano 1.60 Our total was 33.37 euros after tax. I need to go back to this place.

    Nope. We walked in because we didn't know where else to go. I wish we had just gone home. Mean waitress- lots of attitude, slow service- practically threw our coffees at us :( Food was ok. Same taste can be found with better service on the other side of Las Ramblas. Gosh..

    My friend and I had pretty high hopes for MariscCo, after all everywhere else we've eaten at was at worst mediocre. I am compelled to give MariscCo only 1 star, but I want to be fair. It could have been worse, much worse. The decor and the atmosphere of the restaurant itself was quite nice. The outside seating area was almost completely full. There was a nice array of big, fresh caught seafood at the counter. The service was also pretty good and the food came extremely quickly - probably about 5-8 minutes after ordering. Food (from bad to worse): Mussels - pretty good, but nothing memorable. Potatoes - just OK, needed more mayo and more time in the cooker. Garlic Shrimp - good, overcooked slightly, but nice sauce. Grilled King Prawns - not really king prawns, quite small, overcooked. Grilled Sea Bass - well cooked, but WAS NOT SCALED?! Maybe it's a thing that I'm not aware of, but it rendered 50% of the fish inedible. What was worse was that all the scales got all over the rest of my food. I spent most of my time at that restaurant spitting out scales. AWFUL. The fish was also not properly de-boned. Never again. The only thing that could have been this experience worse was if we had gotten food poisoning - thankfully, that did not happen, but I was seriously expecting it.

    Poor service. Food was disgusting. Definitely don't recommend especially when you get haggled by peddlers when you are sitting outside.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. We arrived just after lunch opening and were the first customers. The guy at the counter was... efficient. He simply told us to pick what we wanted, tossed it in a bin, and that was that. No explanation of pricing or preparation methods. When we asked how they'd cook it, he casually offered "fried or grilled." Obviously, we chose grilled--why fry fresh seafood? We picked two giant prawns, two octopus tentacles, and two fish (since hubby can't have shellfish). He asked if we wanted salad or soup--reviews hyped the soup, so we went with that. Then he handed us a receipt, told us we were order #3, and sent us to the bar. At the bar, we ordered two sangrias and a water. The bartender asked if we wanted bread and sauce. Sure, why not? We assumed they were included. Surprise! The tiny baguettes cost €0.50 each, and the mystery "house sauce" (a questionable mix of thousand island and horseradish) was an extra €1. We only realized the charge when we saw the total: €73. Oh well, too late now. Then came the food pickup experience--chaotic, to say the least. The server practically barked at us to bring our receipt, aggressively crossed off items, and handed over soups and octopus, crammed onto a greasy tray. No effort at plating, just food haphazardly dumped onto plates. The second round--grilled fish and prawns--was more of the same. Now, the verdict: Soup (5/5) - Delicious and reasonably priced at €6. Would order again. Bread & Sauce (0/5) - Not free, not worth it. Hard pass. Octopus (€31.80 for two tentacles, 1/5) - Overpriced, greasy, and drowning in molten salt. Basically, eating a sodium bomb. Grilled Fish (€10.50 & €8.50, 3/5) - Decent, but unnecessarily oily. Grilled Prawns (€5.59, 0/5) - Mushy, not fresh, and borderline inedible. Final thoughts? Not worth it. With so many incredible food spots in Barcelona, why waste your meal quota here? If you want quality seafood, go to Cervecería Catalana--we spent €5 more, but a meal a thousand times better. Spend wisely and eat like a king.

I've had fried anchovies before but this was too heavy for us - Octopus: This was a bit oily but but not as much as the anchovies. [Service] - Line up, order what you want, some seafood have various cook styles so they will ask you which you'd prefer, pay, find a table, and pick up at the pick up window once your buzzer goes off. Two of us picked 5 types of seafood, a salad and a fish soup. We tried the sangria as our drinks. Everything is beyond fantastic! We would highly recommend this seafood gem to all our friends. Here are a few tips for the first timers: 1) The workers at the order area don't understand English well. We pointed at the seafood for ordering. 2) Recommended to have the fish soup over mixed salad as an appetizer. The fish soup is made with lots of fish and ginger; and it carries so much flavor. 3) The mussels are a must-have and are so cheap (Under 10 Euros for huge portions). It's recommended to prepare in two ways: white wine and tomato sauce 4) The La Paradeta sauce (I e. A green basil sauce) goes very well with shrimps and razor clams. 5) The fried calamari was so delicious and perfectly paired with drizzles of lemon juice. Yet, it's so expensive (24 Euros for a very small portion). It doesn't feel as worth it as compared to something like lobsters (29 Euros/single lobster). 6) I noticed many people ordered a bottle of wine instead of Sangria. Will need to try next time!
