So we searched for a while until we came across a post that reminded me of the way mariscos are prepared in Mazatlán, México. We drove for about an hour to San Bernardino, through Residential streets in a humble neighbor in the city of Muscoy until we came across the food trailer "Cocos con Camarón." Inside, Samuel Avendaño was preparing our Botana Mixta, I asked him "what style of mariscos are these?" He said, "I'm from Novolato Sinaloa, and I've been preparing mariscos since I was 14 years old" and that's all I needed to hear to know the food would be great. What I didn't know, was how AMAZING the mariscos would be. It was a rainy and cold day, we sat in our car and opened the containers to find a generous and great looking seafood botana. As soon as we dug in, we were transported to the Malecón in Mazatlán, the pulpo, camarón cocido, camarón crudo, callo de hacha and ostión swimming in the most delicious sauces, the authentic and unique flavors from the coast of Sinaloa...right here on the streets of San Bernardino, we were blown away. Fancy and well-established restaurants would WISH to be able to capture the magic that Samuel dishes out through a small window from inside his small food trailer. The concept is perfect, the food is delicious, the service fast and friendly. Stop by and sample their awesome menu, or pre-order large family and party trays to go. We will have to come back soon. The chorizo had that bold, authentic flavor that elevates any carne asada. What really stood out though was the management that weekend. They were handing out flowers, chocolates, and even giving away their hats to customers. That level of generosity and appreciation during such a busy time says a lot about how they treat their community.
