I'm finding the food isn't consistently good at most of the Mexican restaurants in this area anymore. I'm not sure why that is, but it's become a real disappointment. On a whim I decided to try Los Cabos for lunch, forgetting fish and seafood is their specialty. They have a very big menu to choose from, but I kept it simple and ordered the enchiladas cabos. The interior is very open and pleasantly decorated, but as soon someone else mentioned in their review, the music is Very loud. As I waited for my dish, chips and some sort of creamy dip arrived, rather than the typical salsa. It really didnt have much flavor, but definitely had a bite. One thing that was difficult is the language barrier, which was frustrating much of the time. When I asked if the mole sauce was dark or red, even saying negro or rojos I got a confused look. Getting a response was next to impossible. Just asking for a take out cup for the rest of my drink was an ordeal. I really wish I spoke Spanish, but I'm not even fluent in two of the languages my own father spoke, who was from central Europe. When the enchiladas arrived they were covered in the creamy jalapeño sauce which was very thick. The rice looked good, but the beans were over microwaved. The shrimp inside them was Very tiny, about the size of a very small button. It was good, but not a wow dish. All things considered I think I'll pass on returning. read more

I went there for Mother's day and the service was terrible even though the restaurant was practically empty. They definitely over charge compared to other seafood restaurants and they also hand out different menus with different pricing which is super confusing. When I ordered I told the waiter that I would like double beans instead of rice and even asked again to confirm that she got my order right. When the food came out they gave me rice and I mentioned to the server that I had asked for double beans so he said he'd fix it. Next thing you know he comes back a second later and LIES that there was no longer any more beans. One of the other workers noticed we weren't satisfied so they went back to the kitchen and made sure to add the beans and other condiments the plate was missing. Took my mom for Mother's Day and was a bad decision, First they took the order and took over an hour to bring out the food , second they were known for great place to have fun and have a couple drinks and they were Not serving any alcoholic beverages and also the server was delivering someone else order to our table, was a big disaster at the end they took 15 minutes to get my payment. Very good restaurant. Very seafood heavy menu, but there are some other options for folks not in the mood for seafood. The fresh guac was delicious! I had fish and my friend had ceviche. Both meals were very well prepared and generous portions. Things are a bit pricy, but you get a large portion. Inside is a large dining room with good sized bar to one side. Service was prompt and friendly and kept our drinks re-filled. We were there on a Tuesday and it was not busy, so we lingered over supper for a couple hours chatting and they never tried to rush us out. The restaurant is easy to get to, and there is ample free parking available. This was my first visit, but will not be my last. read more

Gave 2 stars for the food but the fact that the menu the waitress gave us at first said the plates were $21.99 each but when we were paying my husband realized they overcharged us by $14 ( the plates are now $28 each ) so he went and asked the waitress for the menu just "to order more food" to make sure they don't swap out menu and exactly what we saw $21.99!!! when we brought it to the waitress' attention, she wanted to lie and said this was not the menu i gave you implying that we are liars? like? we didn't have an issue paying but it was the fact that she didn't take accountability and tried to say that we were tripping. cool! never coming back here, and honestly you guys should get your staffs more educated on consumers laws, it's just irritating how we were being treated like some kids. read more

Is it food? Is it artwork?? OMG, you really can't give an adequate rating of this restaurant with just words. The food is so beautifully and artfully prepared, it's like a feast for your eyes. But it's also amazingly tasty. There are pricier items on the menu, but there are also many budget-conscious choices, so there is something for everyone. We also loved the decor - bamboo walls, thatched facades, colorful fish on the walls, and a giant commissioned mermaid in the entry. The servers are also very helpful. Actually this is like my third time visiting this place I requested 3 limonares. When the lady came with them I was surprise of the size and the look of them. Very fancy to be honest. I question her in why they were so big and she replied that's there size. She never mentioned the size or price. When you ask for a regular lemonade we'll you expect a regular lemonade. So at the end of the check we realized that for 3 lemonades was over 50.00 dls. What that tells you ? They push those for you to be liable for paying them. I never requested no 17 dls lemonades for kids under 10 years old. I refused to pay for those and they wanted to still charge me 10 for each don't mind paying like 5 dls to be feared and have to treat to report them for price gauging and to write a consumer's report to the Better Business Bureau. I was not going to play about. Is unfair business try to take advantage of hard working people. And management if you don't know what your personal is doing. Check them out give them the right training. I'm not to try to do this kind of thing that leaves a bad experience on your businesses End of the history they took 5 dollars for each drink. So a coworker and I went here for lunch yesterday and I had no idea it even existed! The decor was great and so was the service. They had diverse menu options. I was pleasantly surprised they didn't bring out the usual chips and salsa, but instead individual. See the picture below of the flavorful master piece they serviced me. I order from the lunch menu which was a little pricier than I had hope but the quality of the meal made up for it. I ordered some sort of shrimp enchiladas and they were delish! My husband and i originally were gonna hit the irish pub in downtown Durham.... they had TERRIBLE service so we decided on los mariscos. The servers were so welcoming so nurturing it was breath taking. Without asking they graced us with shrimp ceviche and it was THE TOUCH! no other restaurant I've been to has done. Like "this is who we are" classy. We ordered drinks...very strong drinks lol. Next we ordered pulp a las brasas and chicken enchiladas....OMG!! the mole sauce was made from scratch with a rich depth in the sauce, that octopus was cooked to PERFECTION....adobo was on point! I've came here before on several occasions and enjoyed myself. Today I was extremely disappointed to say the least. I came in during lunch (they weren't super busy) and was ignored by the two waitresses on the floor. They were super rude, didn't greet us, didn't at least have the courtesy to say 'I'll be right with you' maybe they assumed we didn't speak Spanish or wouldn't tip so they didn't bother? We waited for a few minutes to be seated but both of them walked by multiple times and just acted like they didn't see it. No apology nothing. They have no manners I guess they were raised in a barn where manners aren't taught. Terrible service, extremely disappointed. Please train your employees to have some manners, I was actually looking forward to a meal here. Left and went to Red Crab where I was greeted, seated and treated courteously by staff! The food here was delicious. I ate with a large group and the staff was very accommodating. I ordered the paella marina. It was huge - I finished the leftovers the next day. They serve ceviche as a complimentary appetizer. It's a bit of a pricier restaurant, but it's also some of the best seafood I've had this far inland. Definitely recommend! Fun story - My wife, who does not drink much at all, asked the waitress for the sweetest drink on the menu. I was trying to decide on a drink when they brought out the one my wife ordered, which was a lemonade with vodka. In a FISHBOWL. With a side bottle of moscato. An entire. Side. BOTTLE. She took three sips and was done so I'm glad I didn't order my own drink. My only disappointment with this experience was that the waitress didn't tell us she was bringing a fishbowl (with a side bottle of wine) nor did the menu make it clear that's how this particular drink would come. This is Mexican seafood at its best! I lived in San Diego and Tijuana, where I became both familiar with and spoiled by Mexican and Baja style cuisine. First off, they brought out tuna ceviche with a side of habanero sauce and tostadas, at no charge! The habanero sauce has a kick to it, but is perfect as a salsa for the tuna ceviche. I looked over the menu and saw all the classic Mexican seafood dishes. The fish here is incredibly fresh, and prepared in an authentic style that you won't find in a lot of Mexican restaurants in this area. It's not Tex-Mex, so don't expect that. It's lighter. But if you're in the mood for freshly prepared seafood (not for vegetarians), and you want to try something amazing and new, then this is your place. If you want vegetarian, I recommend you go to the vegetarian restaurant Souly Cafe across the street and down a little ways along the 15-501. They will take care of you. Ordering Mexican food can be a little daunting, so if you're not sure what to get, or what things are, feel free to ask the waitresses, the ones we had were bilingual. I was craving Baja fish tacos, which are super popular in Southern California, and I was not disappointed. I ordered a la carte, just two fish tacos, which were grilled, not fried, with cabbage, tomato, onion, cilantro and a delicious light creamy, lemony sauce drizzled over the whole thing. My son ordered the fish enchiladas verdes, which came with grilled fish in a light verde (green) sauce rolled up in two warm tortillas and cheese lightly sprinkled on top, with a side of refried beans. It was supposed to come with a side salad, but they were very nice about substituting the beans instead. The food is not too spicy. If you want extra heat, there are bottles of hot sauce you can choose to add a little zest. Other seafood dishes I highly recommend trying are the classics: seafood soup, known as 'siete mares' or 'seven seas', which I observed them bringing to another table in a large steaming bowl, and 'coktel', or seafood cocktail, prepared the Mexican way, in a spicy tomato sauce, and served with limes, saltines or tostadas in a large cocktail glass, and ceviche, which is fish and/or seafood 'cooked' in seasoned lemon juice and eaten with tostadas or saltines. My husband ordered the los Cabos Ceviche (18.99) but the price is absolutely worth it he couldn't finish it. We also ordered oysters 6 of them for about $12 they're brought to you on ice and you can really taste that they're fresh. I ordered the Como México no hay 2 which was $12.99 it had one chicken flauta and 2 chorizo Sopes and a steak taco it didn't look like a lot of food at first but it really filled me up I couldn't finish it. Food is semi expensive but the portions are huge. They have kids menu as well that include chicken tenders and fries. The interior design is mostly ocean based. It is loud due to the live music. Two different groups but they charge per song ranging from 20-30 dollars. The bathrooms are not very clean and the towel dispenser does not work. Overall satisfied with the food. read more

For the past 15+ years my gold standard for good Mexican was Bandidos in Woodcroft. They had a fire so I had to go to Chapel Hill. Last year Uncle Julios came on the scene and yes they are good. I had a michelada with shrimp peanuts and cucumbers and a cantarina and they were so delicious. Loved it and the owners/managers were so friendly and welcoming. Definitely can't wait to come again. Food was excellent, although the menus did not do a good job describing the food, and what came with the meal. Portions were also inconsistent. My wife's meal was small, mine and my neighbor's were huge! However, out of four meals, three of them were completely wrong. When we complained, one was replaced, one wrong one was kept, and the third one took 45 minutes to correct. We were charged full price for everything, including two drinks that just showed up that we thought were comped. Manager was nice and friendly, but did not comp the meals (he did comp drinks that we did not order). I understand this is a new restaurant, with startup pains, but never in my life have I been at a table where 3 of 4 orders were wrong, where one meal was delayed over 45 minutes compared to the others, and where we were then asked to pay full price for everything. Manager should have realized that one's first experience at what for us was a local restaurant is very important, especially for one that has a premium price compared to other Mexican restaurants just a stones throw away.
